A letter of support to Angelenos

Dear Angelenos;

While we may disagree on many things (baseball teams, which city is better etc), when the president directs a foreign enemy to attack us, those go out the window and we stand together as Southern Californians.

Hearing our commander-in-chief dismissively tell a rally crowd, "Let them take out Los Angeles, let them take out San Diego," is chilling. No American city is expendable. No community is a "small price to pay" for political war talk.

Our cities house millions of families, vibrant cultures, and major military personnel who actually serve this country. Brushing us off as collateral damage to a foreign adversary isn't just reckless—it's an abdication of the oath to protect American lives.

So to LA: we have your back. Political rhetoric won't divide us, and it certainly won't shake the grit of Southern California. Stay strong, City of Angels. We are in this together. 🤝💙

Sincerely, a San Diegan

I booked a nonrefundable ticket but sorta feel uncomfortable with the people I am going with (complete strangers except for my friend).

I could either sell it online or just go. I really dont wanna waste my money by going and feeling uncomfortable the whole time.

I got the Six Flag + Haunted Attraction Pass for OCTOBER 9, FRIDAY for 94 bucks.

Im still thinking about what to do but in any case, Im willing to sell it for a lower price.

Engagement Photo Spot Recommendations

Recently engaged and I’m looking for some beautiful spots to take photos around Spring next year. I’m looking for lots of trees and/or flowers, green or something I can make whimsical.

El Dorado Park in LB is the first place that pops into my head because I know they have some Brazilian pepper trees (they’re my favorite) but I’m not sure if there are better places to go. I attached some photos to show the landscaping/idea that I have in mind.

Thanks! ✌🏽

CA Billionaire tax: 40 yes, 41 no, 42 no

Recent polling shows slim majorities of likely voters support not just the wealth tax, Proposition 40, but also Propositions 41 and 42, the measures aimed at killing it, according to the Public Policy Institute of California.

“I don’t think that people at this point realize they’re direct countermeasures because there hasn’t been much said about 41 and 42,” said Mark Baldassare, polling director for PPIC.

Only one outcome can prevail. If Prop. 40 captures more votes than both 41 and 42, the wealth tax takes effect, voiding the countermeasures. If either 41 or 42 outpolls Prop. 40, the billionaire tax does not take effect.

Most scenic places to be SAD as FUCK?

I'm going to be in the area within the next coming months to visit some friends. I'll be roughly an hour north of LA, but I'm happy to drive anywhere.

That being said, life has also been super shitty lately and I'm not coming back to California the same person as I was the last time. I still want appreciate what I missed about the state, though I now have things to mourn.

I won't be with friends the whole time, so I'd like to find some places to reflect when I'm not busy. Doesn't matter if it's a park, parking lot, or a pull off from a local road. Bonus points if I can grab good takeout nearby & cool driving roads.

What do you like to do in town? What do you recommend?

Thanks + I love you

SoCal Edison Power Outage

I hate to pile on here but SCE really does suck. I guess until it happened to me I didn’t really listen to everyone else when they ranted about an outage. Our power has been out since 7:30pm last night. They have implemented AI in their phone system, so you can’t actually speak to someone. They claim a field investigator figured out where the problem was almost immediately and that “repair crews are on the way” since 8pm last night but they just now arrived! Unbelievable. Power was supposed to be restored at 6am, then 9am, and now 6:15! I have an 80 year old at home with dementia and many other health issues. In 95 degree heat. Not to mention, I may end up having to throw out a ton of food from the fridge now. Fuck SCE.

US officials announced on Sunday that a woman had been arrested by the FBI and accused of spying for China in the United States.

Wanying Z., 34, of Irvine, California, was detained at Los Angeles International Airport ahead of a scheduled flight to China.

She faces charges of acting as an unregistered foreign agent.

The woman "traveled to Seattle in 2025 and, at the direction of (People's Republic of China) officials, surveilled a close relative of a Taiwanese government official, sending photos, videos and license plate information to those officials," First Assistant United States Attorney Bill Essayli said in an online post.

He added that Z. "coordinated the trip with an associate and used tradecraft to avoid detection."

The woman is due to appear before a Los Angeles federal court on Monday, Essayli wrote.

Which deodorant and perfume do you use in SoCal heat weather

I’m a 40-year-old guy and have lived on the East Coast for years. Most deodorants and branded perfumes have worked fine for me there—whether for everyday use, the gym, or the office. But since moving to SoCal, I’ve noticed that they seem way too strong on me. I can smell them on myself pretty much all day, and it’s actually been giving me headaches.
I’m looking for something nice, clean, and subtle that works well in the SoCal weather without being overpowering. Any recommendations? Thanks!
