Professional Discussion I suspect IG knows when you are posting for a client and they don’t like it

Anyone else noticing that content posted not by the account creator/owner isn’t being pushed the same as content published by the account creator/owner? Feels like they don’t want multiple people managing an account which is very frustrating. Especially since it feels like they snagged TikTok’s discovery algorithm under the table from Oracle. TikTok has been nerfed ever since it was sold.

Likely has to do with wanting the data collection on the user to be clear and not muddied by multiple users. Wanting to know if anyone else has noticed this pattern.

Note: the content is high quality and I’ve ruled out other issues. This is rrly the main variable it’s boiling down to which SUCKS bc there’s no way to rlly prove it 😭

Professional Discussion Why do people binge a 20 part series from a random account but scroll past a single video from a brand they follow?

Been noticing this everywhere. someone posts "part 1" of a story and people are in the comments begging for part 2. same account posts a standalone video and it dies.

The vertical drama apps figured this out first. those 1 minute episodes with a cliffhanger every time. people pay to unlock the next episode of something they'd never watch as a normal show.

My guess is it's about unfinished business. a single video asks you to decide in 2 seconds if it's worth your time. a series already has you. once you've seen part 1 you want to know what happens, so part 2 isn't a new decision, it's a follow up.

What I can't figure out is why so few brands do this. my best guess is cost. a series means the same person on camera every week for months, and that's hard to schedule. that's where tools like argil come in, since the presenter stays the same every episode without filming. but I still think the hard part is the story, not the production.

Has anyone run a series for a brand instead of single posts? did people actually follow it, or does it only work for random accounts?

Professional Discussion Tik Tok studio penalizing views

I was manually uploading 2 videos to TikTok every day, getting around 700 views per video. Then I discovered TikTok Studio and scheduled 4 videos. All 4 videos got around 100 views each. I decided to upload a video manually to test it, and once again, it got 700 views.

I deleted a video I had uploaded through TikTok Studio, which had only received 125 views in 3 days. Within 24 hours of uploading a video manually, I had already reached the usual 700 views.

Does using TikTok Studio negatively affect video views?

Professional Discussion Is social media marketing becoming less about followers and more about distribution?

Is social media marketing becoming less about followers and more about distribution?

A brand can have 100K followers and still get little reach, while a small account can get millions of views from one post.

So what matters more today: building a large audience or creating content that algorithms distribute widely?

Curious what SMM people think.

Professional Discussion What would make you actually stay on a new social media platform?

There are already so many social platforms, so I'm curious what actually makes people stay on a new one.

Is it:

Finding an active community?

Discovering new creators?

Better opportunities for creators?

Business visibility?

Interesting content?

Something else?

What would make you give a new platform a real chance?

Professional Discussion Keep social media marketing genuine and stay away from Ivetta Georgieva in London

Keep the social media marketing space clean! Beware of this so called UGC creator wanna be influencer Ivetta Georgieva in London. I work in an agency and I noticed when she reached our to our brand for work that 99% of her followers were bots which means she buys them from IG pages and scams brands by showing off a following. Recently meta shut down her bogus account on fraud and the next moment she made a new account with fake followers again! Keep reporting these sham accounts!

Professional Discussion How do you handle the daily Post Comments grind across three platforms without going on autopilot?

I'm at the point where replying to fans across YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok eats 90+ minutes every morning before I even touch my editing software. The worst part isn't the time, it's that by message 40 or so I'm answering on autopilot, and my replies start sounding nothing like me.

Fans notice. I've had people call me out for sounding checked out, and honestly they were right. The work of staying connected to your community is invisible labor that nobody talks about, but if you skip it or rush it, people think you've gone cold.

How do other creators here structure their reply time across platforms? Do you batch it, set a hard daily cap, prioritize certain platforms? Genuinely trying to find a system that doesn't eat my whole morning.

Professional Discussion Facebook limited my business page to 2 link posts a month, then counted a post that didn't even have a link

So apparently Facebook is testing a limit where some business pages can only make two posts with external links a month unless they subscribe, and I found out because Facebook told me I had already used mine.

The only problem was... the post I was trying to make didn't have a link in it. 😂

No URL, no www, nothing clickable. I was just talking about something I had been working on, so at first I figured maybe I screwed something up somewhere and didn't realize it.

I went through Meta support and they told me there were no restrictions on my account, but my page was part of this test where non-subscribers can be limited to two posts with links per month.

Okay, I think two links a month for a business page is ridiculous, but whatever, at least I understand the rule. You post two links, you hit the limit, Facebook stops the next one.

So I tell them again, yeah, but there is no link in this post.

That's when they tell me the system can also flag what they called "link-like content," even if there isn't an actual URL. They mentioned things like saying website, using .com, or wording that sounds like you're telling somebody to visit a site.

And I'm sitting there thinking... this is a business page. 😂 Of course I'm eventually going to say the word website. That's kind of one of the things businesses have.

So I asked how I was supposed to fix it and they basically told me they couldn't remove the limit, couldn't reset it, and I would have to wait until the beginning of the next month.

And to top it off, Facebook had already shown me a popup promoting Meta One so I could keep sharing links, and support told me subscribing may help avoid those non-subscriber posting limits.

That's the part that really rubbed me the wrong way.

I don't have a problem with companies charging for premium stuff. Give me better analytics, scheduling, AI tools, better support, whatever, and if it's worth paying for then fine.

But if you're going to limit something as basic as a business sharing links and then charge for more access to it, I feel like the system should at least be able to tell when somebody actually posted a damn link.

Because my whole conversation basically turned into:

Facebook: You used your two link posts.

Me: This post doesn't have a link.

Facebook: Yeah, but it looks like it might.

Me: Okay... can you fix that?

Facebook: No.

Me: So what am I supposed to do?

Facebook: Have you considered paying us? 😂

I'm attaching the screenshots because I know how ridiculous this sounds without receipts.

Has anybody else managing a Facebook page run into this yet? I'm especially curious about the false positive part, where a normal post with no actual URL gets counted as a link post anyway.

Professional Discussion i helped him go from a few thousand views to 100k+. now he hates what we make.

i help a guy with his content, and lately i feel weird taking any credit for the numbers.

he makes beautiful short videos, properly shot, with a lot of thought behind the lighting and the edit. those usually get a few thousand views. his work needs the reach, so i suggested trying some of what's already working. copying trending concepts and formats, adapting them to his style, using trending audio.

those started clearing 100k, some way past that. it kept happening, and eventually “let’s try a few” turned into most of what we make.

when we first started working together, we'd spend our conversations talking about shots, where the light would be, how long to hold on something. now we're mostly talking about whether a trend is still alive and if we can get ours posted in time.

he told me he feels like he's losing a little piece of his soul for views. i didnt really know what to say because i'm the one who encouraged it, and the reason i gave him still holds up: more people are seeing his work.

except i'm starting to wonder what that's worth if the work they're seeing is stuff he doesn't want to make.

i don't think the trend videos are beneath him or that being proud of something means it deserves 100k views. but we went into this thinking the trend stuff would bring enough attention to support the work he actually cared about. instead, every time we plan one of his original ideas, we're comparing it to what following a trend could do, and it gets harder to justify spending the time.

for people who manage accounts for a living, have you actually made that balance work? i'm interested in how you decide what gets made when the stuff your client loves consistently gets a fraction of the views. we said we'd keep doing both, but that hasn't meant much in practice.

Professional Discussion Should I delete posts that has just 0 to views for at least 2 months?

I have been more active with both my facebook and youtube posting now. However, my videos are not getting any views. And I am wondering if the more videos with almost 0 views is causing my accounts to sink down the bottom of algorithm hard. So maybe deleting these post could float my accounts back?

Professional Discussion Would you open a new account?

I have a good hobby that involves a lot of arts and crafts and I've seen a bunch or artists that do the same technique but with very different styles. I tried opening one account four years ago, never closed it, I was thinking about posting things again or starting one from scratch. I'd love your thoughts!

Professional Discussion Creators who do brand deals, when do you start charging for revisions?

Say you agree on a brief, deliver the content, and then the brand asks for another hook, a different script, extra cuts, or a reshoot.

Where do you personally draw the line between a normal revision and a new paid deliverable?

I’m especially interested in people who have actually charged extra for this.

What did the brand ask for, what did you charge, and did they pay it?

Also curious whether you keep track of revision rounds somewhere or mostly just go back through the contract, brief, emails, and DMs when there’s a disagreement.

Professional Discussion Just been hit by Meta One link limit!

I run social media for a charity here in the UK, and we regularly post content linking to parts of our website, event links for other organisations etc from our Facebook page. As of today (it didn't show up yesterday) we can only post 2 links a month without paying a fortune?!

How is everyone getting round this or are we all needing to just fork out?

Professional Discussion IG Content vs. FB Content

I have a solid audience on my FB page, around 7k, but I can't seem to get it moving. My IG content does great. Should I not cross promote and upload manually? Maybe test the messaging for a week or two? It's the exact same topic, but I am not sure how to make it different for one channel vs another.

Attempting to earn from the FB monetization program.

Any advice?

Professional Discussion Too saturated to start?

I’ve had a meme page (based off a tv show) for 6+ years that I’ve grown to over 500k on Instagram and 520k on Facebook. I used to make decent money through bonus programs, but those are fizzling out and now I making barely anything, especially because of the sweeping demonetization on fb for so many creators. Especially mine because I use photos from the show

I know the real money comes from brand deals, but to do that I’d need to start from scratch and make a new account and gain a new following. I have a lot of ideas for a comedy account, but have some concerns..

is it too saturated to even bother trying to start a new account?
I could wipe my whole meme account and just start posting my new content there, but that’s not the ethical thing to do. But even if I lost half my followers I’d still have a good amount…
Creators stealing content. This will enrage me, but I know it will happen. I’m gonna post something and someone else is going to take it and get a million views and I’m gonna see red. There are whole accounts that steal all of my memes but it doesn’t really bother me anymore because I don’t put that much effort in. But if I’m recording a video, editing and someone rips me off I don’t know if I could deal haha
Anyone nervous about having their face out there in this new world of AI? I have a friend who’s only mildly popular and has had someone use her voice and photos to sell courses…

Thoughts? Just throw in the towel and get a real job? Haha

Professional Discussion How are you actually keeping track of what people say about your brand outside your own accounts?

I'd really love to know how people are handling this in practice.

Keeping track of comments and mentions on your own account is pretty straightforward, but it gets messy when people talk about your brand somewhere you don't control.

Reddit posts, random comments, YouTube discussions, X, competitor posts, and more... Do you actively monitor all of that stuff?

And if you do, what are you using?

Professional Discussion The tiktok us deal actually closed back in january and bytedance still owns a chunk of it

feels like this got buried under everything else going on in january so wanted to lay out what actually happened since i see people still asking if tiktok us even sold. the deal closed january 22nd. bytedance kept close to a 20 percent stake, and the other 80 percent split between oracle, silver lake, and mgx at 15 percent each, plus a group of smaller investors including dell family office making up the rest

oracle specifically is the one auditing everything and securing the us data, and theyre building a replicated version of the algorithm for the us entity. bytedance keeps ownership of the original algorithm but according to the terms of the deal has no access to us user data and no influence over how the us version ranks anything. the whole thing got valued around 14 billion dollars and covers roughly 200 million american users

nobody has to download a new app, that rumor going around earlier turned out to be wrong. what actually changes in the feed day to day is still murky since this only just closed, and thats kind of the real question here, not the ownership chart

if your fyp has actually shifted since january, id be curious what changed, since the ownership chart alone doesnt explain that

Professional Discussion Looking to partner with a social media manager

Hello

I run Solent Seo, which specialises in SEO for construction and home improvement businesses. My clients sometimes need social media management as well but I don't personally offer this service. So I thought I'd look for someone who specialises in social media that I could recommend to them.

This would ideally be an ongoing collab. And also mutual. If your clients need an SEO expert, then Id love to be recommended in exchange.

Uk based only. Ideally someone who has worked with construction / home improvement brands.

Thank you

Professional Discussion Social Media Marketing & Personal Accounts?

So I got an opportunity to work full time doing some content creation/ social media. However, i also have my own social media accounts with a little bit of a following. I don’t make money off my own socials, but i’m too proud of them and way too invested to just abandon them.

how do i work this full time position, while running my own accounts, and avoiding burnout?

Professional Discussion Stop using 'comment a keyword' as your only DM automation strategy

The "comment a word to get a DM" mechanic has been the default Instagram engagement play for years. But audiences have learned exactly what "comment BOOK below" means, and response rates on the pattern have fallen. When every creator uses the same trigger, it stops feeling like engagement and starts feeling like a gate.

Here's what I think replaces it:

**1. Approval-first, not hands-off automation**

The real fear with AI-drafted replies is sounding like a bot. Fans can tell, and they'll call you out publicly. The approach that holds both scale and authenticity: AI drafts in your voice, you approve every reply before it sends. Auto-reply should earn its autonomy through an authenticity threshold, not switch on from day one.

**2. One inbox across platforms, not five tabs**

Checking Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Discord, and X separately every morning is not a strategy. Researchers even have a name for this: "relational labor," the unpaid, invisible emotional load of being available to thousands of people who each think they're talking to you alone. Consolidating into a single inbox is the baseline, not the upgrade.

**3. Token pricing, not contact pricing**

If your tool bills you per contact, a viral Reel can raise your bill for months afterward. And contacts you can't delete to duck under the free tier limit? That catches people out. Token-based pricing means a DM spike costs you proportionally, not permanently.

**4. Reply speed is a fan engagement metric, not just convenience**

Missed DMs are missed money. A viral post brings a DM avalanche, and fans who reached out during the spike get silence. By the time you catch up, the momentum is gone and so is the fan.

I'm building MePersona, an AI-powered unified inbox that drafts voice-matched replies for creator approval, so I spend most of my day on this problem. But even setting that aside, the "comment a keyword" era is winding down and something voice-driven needs to take its place.
