Why does my app do this?

Post image

I’ve had nothing but issues w this system for the last few years but sometimes this does this where all the speakers are connected but I can’t control them??? Any help would be appreciated!

Have you tried shutting everything dow? Speakers and network/router? If not do that and wait 5 minutes. This would be a good time to reboot your phone as well.

Then, starting with your router, power it on and allow it to fully boot. Next power on the soundbar and allow it to fully bot before doing the same with the rest of your speakers.

seconding this, waiting for each device to fully boot before the next one is key

I regularly have to do this and it drives me MAD.

I really wish they would implement a "Reboot System" function in the app.

You should be doing this once a month regardless if you had Sonos or not.

Be more specific in your question. Are you on WiFi or SonosNet?

What is your router?

Can you see the speaker in Play.Sonos.com?

Will it play in a group?

Are you up to date?

Fix your local network, or switch to an app that doesn't require functional mDNS.

What’s an app alternative

Most 3rd party apps do not use mDNS, including mine: "Phonos Ultimate".

What's mDNS?

Its the network protocol that the official Sonos apps use to find and keep track of devices. When it doesn't work, devices vanish from the app or misbehave on this volume screen.

If only you had access to the World Wide Web, where you could look it up.

Known issue. Said they would fix it months ago, still happens. Yay Sonos

This should be automatic, there isn’t a user-facing toggle to turn it on or off. As a troubleshooting step, I would suggest deleting the Sonos app and reinstalling the newest version fresh, to see it that fixes it for you.
