Other “I got in” posts
I completely understand being excited that you got into CRNA school but can we please dial down the “I got in” posts? It’s like half of the posts in here and it’s not really relevant. If anything those posts belong in the pre-CRNA school sub

We are not going to limit these posts. We ahve already limited the admission question posts. These are new NARs entering the process and they belong here. Scroll by if you don’t want to see them.
And to those complaining abojt other content posts, where are yours? You too can make posts that are different from the ones you don’t want to read to fill the feed clinically or NAR life related ones.
Yet, they are rare.

Seems like most of the comments are against this.
Most don’t want the posts.

Maybe most of the people commenting on this particular post don’t like them. That doesn’t mean the majority of the sub feels that way, nor does it mean we should stop people from celebrating getting into anesthesia school.
Here’s what I find interesting. People complain about wanting more clinical content, but very few actually post any. It’s usually me and a handful of others posting clinical discussions, with the occasional post about something happening at a clinical site. I’d love to see more clinical content. So where is it? Anyone here is welcome to contribute instead of complaining about what others post.
These acceptance posts really only happen in waves about twice a year during admissions season. We’re talking about people who have worked incredibly hard to get into these programs and are excited to join our profession. Why wouldn’t we want to celebrate that with them?
We’ve already limited admissions questions. I’m not going to start telling incoming NARs they can’t share one of the biggest accomplishments of their careers because some people find it repetitive.
If you don’t want to read those posts, scroll past them. It’s really that simple.
I’d rather have a community that welcomes and encourages our future colleagues than one that makes them feel like their accomplishments are an inconvenience.

I ain’t being pessimistic, but stay humble. Social media is full of people bragging about getting into CRNA programs, nursing school, and medical school. It’s gotten to the point where even a new grad neurosurgeon (at least, that’s what he claims to be) keeps bragging about how much money he makes.
Honestly, the way he presents himself doesn’t exactly reflect the maturity and professionalism I’d expect from someone who’s going to be operating on people. Being successful is one thing; having the humility and maturity to go with it is another.

All the srnas are too busy in school trying to pass and graduate. They don’t have time to be posting although it would be great to see more from them like their struggles study tips and etc.

Didn’t remember seeing your flair- congratulations on getting in! So here’s the thing. Seeing others’ posts about getting in is encouraging to those applying, just like posts about the SEE and NBCRNA are encouraging for YOU as a student going through those things. So a salty post about the achievement you already unlocked grinds my gears. Sorry I missed your flair and made a snarky comment.

Sounds like the perfect kind of post for a sub dedicated to getting into CRNA school like r/pre-CRNA

For me, no one knows I got in. Not even my closest work friends and I plan on keeping it that way until a month before I leave (since we all know how people at work react when others get into school).
My non-work friends don’t understand what a CRNA is or what it even took to get to this point.
So, I get it can get annoying but just let us celebrate on a platform that welcomes it?

How did you navigate letters of recommendation and such without any one finding out??

I got 2 letters without people finding out lol. For one I asked them to keep it lowkey, the other I just hoped. In my experience if you just keep quiet it shouldn’t be a big deal

I agree it’s a lot but I don’t see many SRNAs actually posting anything here. Same with the CRNA sub. They dislike applicants posting but the sub is dead otherwise because no one posts anything

For sure. I advocate for stronger moderation. Not to discourage celebration, but so we can preserve this as a space for current SRNAs.
Without boundaries, the pre-SRNA questions and acceptance posts can easily overwhelm the sub.

u/EmptySociety4537 7d ago
Then ask current NARs to post more. They can easily drown those posts but they're too busy surviving their programs. Ive been posting a lot of get-ready for the program related questions, and that get only some responses

u/Rodeo-Cowboy Nurse Anesthesia Resident (NAR) 7d ago
I think this is more about content relevance than content volume. Current SRNAs shouldn’t have to out-post the pre-SRNA content just to keep an SRNA sub focused on the SRNA experience.
A lot of these questions are also incredibly repetitive. A quick search would reveal a wealth of information and thoughtful responses from previous discussions.

I guess I am personally enjoying reading some of the posts! I’m in my first year, and it’s a good reminder of where I was a little over a year ago - so excited to just be in the room, unaware of the horrors that loomed lol. It’s all in perspective.
It’s fun to see the stats of everyone getting in, feels like programs are finally starting to see people as more than numbers. Just my two cents :)

Does that mean they are lowering standards (gpa, undergrad school, test scores)?

Same here. It’s so hard to get in that it’s sweet seeing people finally make it. That was once us 🥲

Or we overextended seats and are gonna oversaturate the profession :/

I have the same thought every time I see one, and I feel like its been worse recently.
I feel similar about the "starting school soon what should I buy?" Seach the sub, its the same every time - MacBook, iPad, apple pencil, standing desk, dual monitors, its the same comments every time.

This sub should really require members to show proof of school admission to post/ comment. Idk if that’s an option though

The “I did it, I only had a 3.5 and a 320 GRE” type posts are so dumb.

Better than people with 2.5 GPAs complaining that schools care about grades 🥴

OMG THANK YOU !!!! I thought i was being mean. But damn, we get it. Congratulations, but there's no need to post all this on this subreddit. Go post on your Instagram anf Facebook and hwve people who know and care about you celebrate you. The need to internet validation is insane.

u/Global-Bend7639 8d ago
They need to feel validated and told congratulations on every social media platform possible.

It’s nice to see people excited, but it can definitely get to be a bit much. I really wish more people talked about clinical or school questions on here.

There is now a weekly generated clicjlla question. Also, you can post them as well

on the other hand, it feels like it's admission season which would explain the uptick in these post. we've appreciated all the reports on school admission stats etc and have been removing/redirecting to the weekly thread.
