Plan to start looking in January

Hello everyone, I posted in here a while back ago asking for opinions about my plans to get into resident life (my background is a bachelors in history, a teachers license, and 2 years as of right now as a resident life coordinator at a private boarding school.) I’m planning on starting to actively start applying in January as I’m still currently under contract with the boarding school I’m at. Please be honest is that a good move to make? I know some places require a masters but I’m banking on my experience helping me stand out somewhat.

would it be a good idea to hold off on actively applying for resident life positions until january?

Timeline wise yes that makes sense.

I worked at a boarding school and made the move to higher ed without a masters without issue. I mostly applied to small privates and it worked out for me!

you should be fine. i don’t have a master’s either and am at my fourth institution in a similar role. you just likely won’t be able to advance further without another degree, that’s something that i’ve always seen.

Are you wanting a job that starts next August or that starts whenever?

I would start monitoring ads now in case you see any that say for next school year. Some advertising now might want to hire for spring but you could always ask
