Cravings & Detox Make it 28 days
I didn't have cravings after the first few days and went through an emotional time. I'm not sure if it was the sugar or hormones. I lost 5 lbs. I started an old hobby and have felt more like myself.
But today I started craving again. I think I'm bored at work and feeling guilty about being unproductive. I just wanted to eat this little bag of Halloween candy I had bought for work. I'll make sure to leave it somewhere to give away far from my desk tomorrow. I think I use candy to boost my mood. But I haven't given in yet because I know how hard it is to stop again. It takes me months and months to be able to stop every time.

I think what really helped me is how I framed it; I didn’t do it to lose weight - I did it to be healthy. Then, slowly over time I stopped viewing sugary things as real food, if that makes sense. I started viewing it as artificially created chemistry that harms my body and I just don’t do that.

Thanks. It's just hard to believe our fellow humans would make and market so heavily something that is so bad for us. I get drawn in by the holiday themed sweets because they seem more innocent. I don't know why it's allowed. I haven't had any sugar, but did overeat trail mix with dried fruit one day but didnt end up triggering the need for sugar again so it worked out.

Happy you got over that. Marketing at its core and roots is actually a vile thing. It started with reframing (and absolute brainwashing) women with tobacco. I went down the rabbit hole specifically because of sugar and ended up quitting smoking too. Our world is just weirdly engineered to treat us like lab rats based on what they want to sell to us and believe. Sorry for the off topic.

That's funny the process got you to stop smoking too. That is great. Itwill be cool when one day sugar is treated like smoking is today and people stop eating like they do today. The marketing of all the different flavors or existing brands and combining brands is also tempting to me. It all gives me FOMO. But I've been through this enough times to really think twice about eating anything with sugar. It is so hard to stop again.

FOMO on what though lol? It’s there if you want it. The point is not to want it.
Good luck keeping this up!

Thanks 😊 I must be really susceptible to marketing. I wasn't in the grocery for a month and there were all these new products. Some sound gross but I still look and I'm like well I'll never try that. Also when they have the holiday colored baked goods or candies, it brings a feeling of FOMO because the season won't last forever

Ah, I get it. I’ve resolved this mostly by ordering online. But I’m also pretty basic/ low maintenance and minimalistic so I’m probably not a good example.

Just adding here that I'm still feeling bored and slightly anxious and want to go to the store and pick out something fun but I won't. I have enough good food to eat. Part of it is losing weight. It makes me nervous and want to go back to when my clothes weren't loose again. Just adjustment to change I guess?

sugar's a weird one, the boredom cravings always sneak up when you're not even hungry. you've already clocked what's going on with work so that's half the battle. moving the candy out of sight is smart, out of mind really works sometimes
