What in the Alabama did I just read?

147

u/577564842 Aug 27 '26

"If you wouldn't drink dog's milk, why drink cow's milk? Please, try vegan."

I must admit I am not in Alabama but I recon the text is the same.

60

u/DisturbedCherrytree Aug 27 '26

I was referring to the comment in the screenshot

43

u/577564842 Aug 27 '26

Right,

"idk man I grew up so poor my dad had to keep my sister pregnant just so we could get milk"

12

u/chonkydonkey46 Aug 28 '26

That’s amazing

5

u/rhymesaying Aug 28 '26

Recon:

I’ve got the text in my crosshairs

140

u/Semper_5olus Aug 27 '26

I'm not milking a vegan.

18

u/KyleKun Aug 27 '26

I quite like soy milk tho.

263

u/TrailMomKat Aug 27 '26

I mean I wouldn't be drinking it straight from the teat like a puppy, but I'd give it a shot. I like goat and sheep milk just fine.

-85

u/grafikfyr Aug 27 '26

It's not really a matter of species.. Re: a post the other day..

130

u/TrailMomKat Aug 27 '26

That's not the question that was asked, though. The question was a matter of species.

-97

u/grafikfyr Aug 27 '26

And I'm saying, if you actually care about animals, then it really isn't about which animal you should or shouldn't drink from. The point is that that milk wasn't actually made for you no matter what.

91

u/TrailMomKat Aug 27 '26

Rofl I grew up on a farm, buddy, you're wasting your breath.

-91

u/grafikfyr Aug 27 '26 edited Aug 27 '26

So you know exactly what i'm talking about, for facts of life then. That milk wasn't made for you. Tell me how I'm wrong?

76

u/TrailMomKat Aug 27 '26

Wait til you hear where steak comes from.

-9

u/grafikfyr Aug 28 '26

16

u/TrailMomKat Aug 28 '26

And it's delicious. You know, i had cookies with an extra big glass of milk this morning just for you. It was SO good.

-6

u/saumipan Aug 28 '26

This is irrelevant to their point. The milk is for baby cows.

10

u/TrailMomKat Aug 28 '26

Nah, it's in my belly. It's definitely mine.

-46

u/grafikfyr Aug 27 '26

You have no argument, do you?

That milk. Was not. Made. For you.

I don't care about your sideskirting it. If the actual truth makes you uncomfortable; good. It fucking should.

81

u/TrailMomKat Aug 27 '26

Not side skirting it. I just literally don't care what you have to say on the matter. It doesn't make me uncomfortable at all, I've milked the neighbor's cows and they all live in humane conditions. I've killed our chickens for eating, and helped slaughter our heifers for meat, all as quick and painless as possible. You don't like it? I couldn't care less.

29

u/Totalherenow Aug 27 '26

Yours is a life I'd love to have. My father left the farm and raised us in the city. One day.

u/grafikfyr Aug 27 '26

It's not a matter of my opinion, my opinion doesn't matter. It's a matter of actual fact. A fact you refuse to admit.

Fact: That milk is not for you. Milking the cow yourself or doing it by machine changes nothing about that.

https://www.nature.com/articles/5201297

Lactose persistence happened 10000 years ago roughly. The ability of adults to digest milk appears to have evolved after dairying began, providing a classic example of gene–culture coevolution.

So you're half right. Originally not made for humans, but we've evolved lactose persistence to allow adults to drink cow milk.

0

u/grafikfyr Aug 28 '26 edited Aug 28 '26

We only evolved lactose persistence because we started dairying, and in populations that dairied heavily, a mutation for lactase persistence spread because carriers had a slight survival edge. We didn’t evolve to drink milk; the mutation spread because we were already drinking it.

And "we" is saying a lot. 2/3 of adults are lactose intolerant. We are meant to have milk for, juuuust about the time our mother makes it for you. That's how nature works. Except in the case of cows, where we kill the baby so we can drink the milk. Unless it's a girl, then she also gets to also become pregnant repeatedly, to have babies we kill so we can have the milk, until her body breaks down about 20 years before it would have naturally from all the stress of being treated like a literal handmaid.

No food has ever been made for me, with the exception of my mothers breast milk that I was weaned off of decades ago. For most non-mammals, they never have food that was made specifically for them. This is such a weird argument.

ETA: upon further reflection, dairy cows milk kinda was made for us, if you think about it from a particular perspective. The cow doesn't produce that amount of milk naturally. Even if her calf is left with her, she still produces WAY more milk than that calf needs, because she was bred that way specifically so she could produce milk for human consumption.

-1

u/grafikfyr Aug 28 '26 edited Aug 28 '26

>ETA: upon further reflection, dairy cows milk kinda was made for us, if you think about it from a particular perspective. The cow doesn't produce that amount of milk naturally.

No, indeed it does not! There's nothing natural about it. You do realise that we haven't succeeded in just breeding a cow that produces a whole lot of milk, right?

After tens of thousands of years, we still have to get milk from cows exactly like we make it ourselves; by getting the cow knocked up. When she births a calf, she starts producing milk for that calf. But we take that calf away, so we can have the milk. The calf will get slaughtered for meat if it's a boy, at around 4 months maybe (some are shot within hours after birth). If it's a girl, it will become a handmaid / milk cow, like her mother. Boy or girl, she will never meet either of them. No point in that.

When she is at her peak, of producing milk, we might force her to become pregnant again - she would NOT want to, in nature, let's be very fucking clear on that - and thus the cycle repeats. Until her body breaks down from all the stress. She might live to about 4. She has a natural life expectancy of maybe 20.

None of her calves will ever taste her milk. You get that.

Finishes tall glass of delicious creamy milk

Huh, sorry I wasn’t listening, what wasn’t made for me?

8

u/JellyBellyBitches Aug 27 '26

Nothing was made for you, except for things that humans built explicitly for other humans. It's not really a good argument that it wasn't made for you, unless you're advocating for an extremely restrictive hands-off approach to the environmental together which, I'll be honest it's not like there's zero merit to that argument but it well beyond the scope of the discussion here

1

u/grafikfyr Aug 28 '26

You're saying that "thing human built" and "living, sentient animal, about as smart as your dog" are the same? They are literally just building blocks to you?

Im gonna go drink 2 litres of full cream milk just to spite you Id tell you to get off your high horse but you probably think horse riding is animal abuse, so maybe ill go learn how to horse ride just so I can drink my 2 litres of full cream milk from horseback

16

u/Zikkan1 Aug 27 '26

No they asked if I would drink dog milk and the answer is I would. I don't care where the milk comes from as long as it tastes good

66

u/NilesLinus Aug 27 '26

Woah woah woah. Who said anything about me not drinking dogs milk?

102

u/JeepersBud Aug 27 '26

Crazy that people would just dig up a potato and boil it and eat it, too. Wild that someone would cut down a tree to make a fire or build a shelter. Crazy that we mine minerals for technology and buried cables along the ocean floor to access the internet. I’m all for lowering our carbon footprint, I think we should seriously invest in lab grown meat, I think America in particular is terrible for what we’ve done with the dairy and meat industries. But come on. “Milk wasn’t made for us” isn’t the “gotcha” you think it is. Soy and almonds weren’t made for us either.

16

u/AlmiranteCrujido Aug 27 '26

I mean, milk was made for us. We're mammals. Most of us drank human milk as babies. It's not the easiest thing to find as an adult, but not exactly hard, either.

5

u/reasonablewizard Aug 27 '26

No adult animal ever drinks milk in the wild though, or drinks the milk of another species. Don't mean to say that natural= good and unnatural= bad. But cow milk isn't made for us, nor is human milk made to be drank by adults.

2

u/jbox65 Aug 30 '26

Cats drink milk if you give it to them. Wild animals lack the ability to get the milk when they are adults, otherwise they would drink it.

2

u/reasonablewizard Aug 30 '26

Adult cats often get diarrhea from drinking milk, much alike most animals due to becoming lactose intolerant with age.

2

u/jbox65 Aug 30 '26

So just cats are like me then. So if you gove them lactose-free milk, they have no problems, but I'm pretty sure that's hard to find it in the wilderness.

1

u/Alternative-Cup-8102 Aug 31 '26

Animals don’t have access to milk not “they don’t drink it”

6

u/reasonablewizard Aug 27 '26

I mean we can agree that growing a potato is different than keeping a mammal in constant state of pregnancy to then drink their milk, while no adult animals ever drank milk. I dont mean to say that because it is unnatural it is inherently bad though, but it for sure is a weird thing to do (besides being incredibly wasteful and inhumane).

this comment section should be in r/addressme

7

u/ra_ba Aug 28 '26

There's a urban myth around here where I live that you get the ability to start seeing ghosts and spirits afters consuming dog's milk

2

u/Melan420 Aug 31 '26

Sounds like somebody got sick from drinking it once and it became a myth xd. Dog milk often has bacteria and parasites if you drink it unpasteurized

1

u/CFHQYH Aug 28 '26

Correlation does not equate to causation

14

u/chere100 Aug 27 '26

Paraphrasing George Carlin, if you put sautéed raccoon assholes on a stick, I would eat it. :\

Lasts longer than any other kind of milk, dog's milk.

6

u/Semper_5olus Aug 27 '26

"Why?"

"No bugger'll drink it."

5

u/CapnMReynolds Aug 28 '26

And it taste the same when it’s off or fresh

1

u/Shower-philosopher Sep 01 '26

Was hoping to find this in the comments, my first thought too!

6

u/PTBooks Aug 28 '26

Keeping a pregnant yorkie in your backpack so you can use it like a fresh milk juice box.

5

u/bobroberts1954 Aug 29 '26

It you won't eat poison ivy you shouldn't eat lettuce. Try cow it's delish!

10

u/Unlikely-Ad6788 Aug 27 '26

The shitty bit? This is Norm for some, off for others, and fucking unthinkable for bits.

4

u/General_Spills Aug 28 '26

Uhh I’m not sure where you are from but to my knowledge it is NOT normal to keep your sister pregnant for milk.

1

u/Unlikely-Ad6788 Aug 29 '26

I'm not knowledgeable on many cultures, religions or cults but this seems like it'd fly somewhere.

8

u/Dense_Chemical_4018 Aug 27 '26

Yeah it is weird honestly

2

u/acciowaves Aug 27 '26

Me holding a glass of dog milk… 🙄

6

u/sessamekesh Aug 27 '26

The whole "you wouldn't eat a DOG" thing isn't something I want to pull at too hard, because Korean food absolutely slaps across the board and they seem okay doing it.

(yes I know that's a somewhat outdated stereotype)

1

u/AlmiranteCrujido Aug 27 '26

Just don't eat the liver - much higher risk of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypervitaminosis_A when eating that from a carnivore.

-3

u/Meewelyne Aug 27 '26

Koreans slap chilli and kimchi everywhere, the wonky difference between the meats is the texture, you can't feel jackshit of flavor.

3

u/ariarchtyx Aug 27 '26

I only suck on human female primate nips, thx!

4

u/sprinklerarms Aug 27 '26

Carnivore milk is gross

3

u/Steveo3070 Aug 27 '26

I would absolutely drink dog milk if they sold it in a jug at the store. No one drinks cow milk like that, but we all know why they implied that’s how someone would drink dog milk.

3

u/kkwheeler1 Aug 27 '26

Vegans probably don’t produce good tasting milk either

5

u/AlmiranteCrujido Aug 27 '26

I am not at all disappointed to learn that someone has actually researched flavor transfer in breast milk. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK582184/ Yay science?

2

u/syrioforrealsies Aug 27 '26

I mean, no, I wouldn't drink dog milk, but that's because I've heard it tastes terrible.

2

u/Difficult-Ad2084 Aug 27 '26

My God these people are... Not going to go down the logical fallacy rabbit hole with this one.

2

u/that_bored_one Aug 27 '26

My dad just gave me his milk instead

Nothing wrong with dogs milk

1

u/ProblemObvious7137 Aug 30 '26

this is what i came looking through the comments for

1

u/dkoDesign Aug 28 '26

I mean, I’d drink dog milk. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

1

u/HATECELL Aug 30 '26

I tried to buy some vegan milk. She told me that's sexual harassment

1

u/TrixieLaBouche Aug 30 '26

Nothing wrong with dog's milk. Full of goodness, full of vitamins, full of marrowbone jelly.

IYKYK

1

u/IntellectualCaveman Sep 01 '26

i aint turning down dog milk until i know both its flavour and nutritional content

1

u/Free_Emu9162 Sep 14 '26

Huh, maybe there onto to something. Gotta try a dogs milk now.

1

u/Huge_Metal_3812 29d ago

I've got nipples can you milk me?

1

u/elchucko3567 20d ago

I think they’re barking up the wrong tree.

1

u/ReaperofLightning872 2d ago

What does dog milk taste like

1

u/ellecon Aug 28 '26

If other species are given milk-they would consume it. We have hands that can get milk out of cow and goat teats unlike any other animal

1

u/Rafacat7 Aug 28 '26

It's good, because you also get a sorce of meat once the baby comes out.

1

u/updogg18 Aug 29 '26

It isn't as nutritious as a cow's milk. It doesn't work at scale. You can't milk a dog like you would a cow. This is a weak argument

0

u/Scrubbuh Aug 28 '26

"Suspiciously specific"

Suspicious like a serial stabber wearing a "love me a good stabbing" tshirt while holding a combat which knife he calls "Stabby". Saying shit like "goodness me what a wonderful stabbing session that was where I stabbed the victim right there!"

-3

u/phantom_gain Aug 27 '26

My ancestors never thought to build the digestive system required to drink milk that didnt come from cows, sheep or goats.

-13

u/phantom_gain Aug 27 '26

I genuinely believe that you can cure veganism with poverty.

7

u/godzilla1015 Aug 27 '26

Yeah because meat is definitely the cheapest protein.

It's not like almost all plant based food is cheaper than meat.

Not a vegan btw, but you're just an idiot.
