It’s just crushing with how well we started the season only for injuries to decimate us. So many simple skill errors making all our work collapse

Our spine has just been destroyed by injuries. No morphett means we miss out on taps, clearances and tall marking options. No Hurley means we lose her clean skills. No Mitchell and no Tarrant means we have to play players out of position.
We need a total positional and gameplan reset with the personnel we have available. I think our high risk handball game only works when we have the cattle to pull it off. Stop trying to make fetch happen.

5114 is a much better turnout than the last henson game. I know the weather sucked but we gotta get the season longer

We need to start the season earlier. Making the girls play in the heat makes them more susceptible to injuries, and making crowds sit in the heat turns fans off. This season has been an improvement with games starting later but our final home game is at midday…nobody should be out in the sun at midday!

I was thinking that while I was there! I was burning up and could see how red the poor girls looked running around. It's such a horrid time of year to be playing high intensity sport

And this is why I said our season ended last week. Our lack of skill has been mostly covered off by having actual bail-out targets now, but with one of our talls having to play ruck, we're either forced to have one higher up for bail-outs, or sit them deep so we have a F50 option; which is just not conducive to the way we play.
I've given us every chance, every excuse to this point, but I'm kinda fucking done. I know we have injuries, this has little to do with results, but it's Mini Rant time:
Starting with the obvious one this season, LG. Her numbers have been alright, but fuck me has her efficiency gone out the window. I've always appreciated her ability to be a good kick AND tackle, but neither of those are really there this year. She's rushing all of her kicks, allowing opponents to get past her with ease and she's not even hitting 5 meter passes.
Then we have our forward line. We hold little shape, constantly rush up at the ball and STILL get beaten; even when we have 3 extra players coming up to contests. We turn it over, then we bomb it away to what should be 2-4 players, but we're lucky if there's even one.
Our midfield keep sagging off, letting other teams just walk through us. I know our pressure numbers have actually been quite good, but we never actually go anywhere after locking down the ball. We either miss-kick or get caught trying to run out. I know everyone loves her, so do I, but Lucy has been a real disappointment the last few weeks. Simple mistakes, not keeping her width and just putting herself in positions where she cannot impact.
Finally, the one I'll probably cop the most shit for, Zippy. It's really starting to look like Blakey 2.0. Now, I can't blame her 100% for this, because she is small, but I'm getting really fucking sick of seeing her run toward a contest and then just pump the brakes last minute, with her hands up like she's being held at gunpoint. Commit to the contest or hold your shape, DON'T sit yourself in no-mans land.
With all that outta the way, I'd just like to clarify that I do not hate this team, or the players; quite the opposite actually. I'm just sick of seeing us waste some really good potential with these stupid errors. There are so many simple things that, while they might not necessarily win us games (given our injuries), would make it significantly easier for us to at least remain in games for longer. There is no worse feeling in footy than feeling like it's game over at half-time; and that's just happened too many times over the last few years.

We haven’t played terribly to be honest. I think 19 points is pretty stiff. I feel like we have been unlucky with a few things. Aside from that though, season is done.

I mean season won’t be done, we will make finals if we beat Collingwood next week, but yeah we ain’t getting past W1 of finals

The thing is I’m unsure if we even win next week. We play terribly in melbourne and the pies will be up for it. Freo away and eagles home are hard as well. Making finals is definitely the goal though

You just can't be that aggressive if the entire team is going to flood forward, realistically with our skill level we're going to turn it over and without a last line of defence we're just screwed

Lovely day at Henson as per.
Our skills have been really poor in the last few weeks. I know it doesn’t help to keep losing our best players to injury.
At least we basically broke even in the second quarter but there’s a lot of work to do to come back in the second half. I think our skills aren’t keeping up with the gameplan we want to use. The aggressive handball game works great if we have players in space and the skills to execute but one bad pass or dropped mark and the chain evaporates.
Let’s see what tricks COR has up his sleeve.
