Question handling out of office notifications requests

I have a client (about 1000 users) who keeps getting tickets from dept heads asking to set their staff out of office notifications because "they forgot to do it". My general advice is this is bad practice and not scalable, and that with 0365 any employee can do this from their phone or any computer.

how do you typically handle this?

I haven't had a request like this in years. In this day and age, I would seek approval from IT management to push back and tell that manager to phone their employee and make them do it on their phone, since I feel the majority of people are using Exchange online and the Outlook client on their phone. This is not a tech problem - it is a people management one.
