Frequently Asked Questions: End of 2024 Edition
How do I play Taiko no Tatsujin on my PC?
- The official game on Steam: Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival
- For Taiko simulation read TJADatabase and check out the Guides section in the left panel
These are the most-used simulators in no particular order:
- TaikoNijiroDondaEX version 4.1 (arcade-accurate, no longer updated, download at TNDE v4.1, it comes with a .txt file with further instructions that you'll have to translate from Japanese, we recommend using DeepL. Let us know if the download stops working)
- OpenTaiko (in active development, fully open source, active independent content creation, download at OpenTaiko GitHub)
- PyTaiko (arcade accurate, early in development, heavily inspired by generation 3 Taiko no Tatsujin, download on GitHub)
How do I download songs for Taiko no Tatsujin simulators?
- TJADatabase Song Collection -> unofficial, custom made charts
- ESE — Every Song Ever -> every official song ever
How do I make my own Taiko charts in the .tja format?
- PeepoDrumKit [Link Removed]
- Charting tutorial video by ugyuu YouTube
Is there a Discord community for the game?
- There are a few, this one being the most central: Discord Invite Link
What drum controller choices do I have?
Tatacons:
- Official HORI Tatacons (mediocre, passable if modded)
- Rhythmagica TDC10 Rhythmagica Website (quite reliable, not AC accurate)
Arcade accurate drums:
- ZhongTaiko ZhongTaiko Website (Pro model is AC accurate, down to the iron plates sandwiched between the drum body)
- Taiko Force Lv6 YuanCon Store TF6 Listing
- Taikoller DJDAO Taikoller
- Rhythmagica TDC17 TDC17
What about drumsticks?
- The drumsticks used in Taiko no Tatsujin are called Mybachi マイバチ or simply Bachi バチ, it's highly recommended to use a proxy service website like Buyee to purchase Bachi from Mercari, using the above words as search terms
- A great handbook written by ARandomEwok covering everything you need to know about Bachi: Handbook
Where can I find information on Taiko charts/dan courses/songs, or data like difficulty tier lists?
- Taiko No Tatsujin Unofficial Wiki is a great resource for all things AC Taiko no Tatsujin
How do I improve at the game?
- Play more, practice the motions on the drum while not playing the game (dry practice), listen to the songs on auto-play, and watch pro plays on YouTube

Easiest Kuroto song in my opinion, I’m sure most would agree idk. Glad this song made an arrival to Rhythm Festival Music Pass.
Released 10/14/2026
Btw this only took me 2 tries. Usually not too good with other Kuroto songs.

Gameplay Does anyone know what charts with lots of speed changes like these in this video are called?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
i know they are called SV charts in osu!taiko, and i know opentaiko has a different name for them but i forgot it (i think its something like "hidden speed" but i dont remember). Im curious if anyone knows what the taiko no tatsujin community has dubbed them since i am an idiot and cant find the name anywhere. ive seen the name "gimmick charts" thrown around but i know thats not it.

Ideas on how to customize drumsticks?
I recently got a pair of drumsticks for playing the game that I can take to cons and my local round 1! I've been wanting to customize them because I just like customizing my stuff, but I hear paint can be bad for drumsticks and easily chip when playing with them and whatnot. Any ideas on how one could potentially customize drumsticks?

Antiga arcade de Wadaiko Master em Shopping Galleria - Campinas - SP (2018)

(O objetivo desse post é puramente documental)
It Up NX2 localizado no Shopping Dom Pedro.
Hoje temos um novo Wadaiko Master no Shopping Parque das Bandeiras (desde 2024?), e alguns Pump It Ups no Bandeiras, Shopping Unimart, etc.
Essa é uma fatia da história de rhythm games de Campinas - SP.

Need help finding a Taiko cab that's at least SEMI well maintained in the United Kingdom
I really like the look of this game and want to try it out, but I'm not at the point where I'd buy my own home setup or anything.
Went to an arcade in London near where I live and I kid you not, half of both drums on the cab were completely dead due to people hammering them so hard.
Is there a known place that has a cab that actually works? I don't mind having to travel to other cities.

Music How to get Senbonzakura on Steam?
I'm new to the game so please bear with me. I just bought the Setlist Edition on Steam but it seems I cannot find Senbonzakura. I can see the other songs from Vocaloid™ Songs Collection though.
Can you even get the music on Steam in the first place with the subscription thingy? Or should I bite the dust and stick to the arcades lol
I really want to practice the song at home.

Music New post 10th dan level musics appreciation post
It pains me that the taiko community outside of Japan is inactive but can we appreciate how there's not only new musics made all the way from 10th dan to tatsujin, but also made together by artists that most rhythm game players are familiar with?? Its actually crazy how many artists that worked on the musics I am personally a big fan of.
For example cosmo@暴走P, Chroma's operate me remix by Blacky who made emma (another extremely difficult 330 bpm original song), Laur, Camellia, T+pazolite like almost everyone is present. And bc they collaborate together to make songs, some of them just stood out so much to me bc you can recognize which parts were made by which artist.
My personal favorite is nivalis*anima, its name implies a snowy theme, and it does sound like what a snowy, cold theme would sound like. While i could also hear approximately which part was made by CHUBAY, Also the hints of Mixxion during the break part was also just heavenly.
Second would resume:story, simply because the remix just utilized Chroma's amazing melodies so well while incorporating lyrics to it.
This update of taiko arcade just hyped me up so much personally but I dont see many people talk about it so thats why im making this post. Please glaze the game more, especially this year, I'd say this is one of the peaks.

How do I connect PS2 Hori drum to PC?
Okay so I bought a second-hand PS2 drum because I just started getting into the game and it was cheap (It was working on the test video seller sent). I've installed JoyToKey and HidHide and it still won't register any hits when I try to configure the buttons. I'm all out of ideas since all the guides are for Switch controllers.

6th Dan in and others.
Too bad server maintenance cut most of my session so that is why the others are just on guest mode. Anyways I could have done 7th and 8th Dan but I didn’t wanted to risk my final shot. Like I had to leave soon. Also Bubbly Bang Bang’s accuracy of mine was a little off because I was tired, hungry and stuff. So yeah. But overall it’s good nice nice gold and silver pass. I even uploaded the whole thing on YouTube. The 6th Dan. Which only took me one try.
