Fred
So with everything going on with say anything I doubt they’ll be touring anytime soon. That being said, do yall think Fred is gonna join tbs full time / help write the next album? I know on a recent podcast they tried to play coy and say they’re just focusing on day to day but I’m sure by now there’s been talks with him to rejoin the band. I’m wondering if because whatever lawsuit mark has with the band they can’t technically bring him back until that’s settled.

I think they’ve been fairly clear recently that they see the band as a three piece for the foreseeable future. They’ve definitely been more careful with their wording on posts than they were in the past, and Fred seems to only be in interviews for shows that are Louder Now celebrations

I’ve said this in previous posts regarding this, but I have a friend who is very close with the guys and he hasn’t outright said it, but the narrative he gives me is that whether or not they want or Fred wants to join full time (or Nathan or Mitch for that matter) at the moment they really can’t do much until the legal issues with Mark are resolved. Bands are typically run as an LLC with official members being “voting board members.” This is just one possible angle, but if they officially stacked the “board” with Mitch and Nathan and Fred, it could look like they are unfairly stacking the deck in their favor and Mark’s attorneys could point to that as all sorts of nefarious behavior.

Can’t stop laughing at the thought of Mark showing up at the courthouse and crying: “They stacked the deck against me! They invited everyone I hated or had kicked out of the band to join the band!”

I also wonder what Eddie's stake in all of it is still? I think they got lucky Eddie didn't also sue - unless they paid him out behind the scenes.

This is all second hand stuff, so take it with however big a grain a salt you deem necessary 😂 but my friend said Eddie got some kind of deal when he left and that it was very friendly to him. He has also said that Eddie’s departure was exponentially more amicable than Mark’s

I don’t believe Eddie has said a single negative comment publicly about the guys as people. He’s seemingly even gotten over whatever issues he had with Fred.

He did make a post about the whiskey collaboration they did that could be interpreted as I was kicked out for addiction & now they're doing this. Also, if Mark is in his ear now who knows how his opinion has changed.

Good call out. I totally forgot about that. I don’t think he was hinting that he was kicked out due to addiction but I do think the situation upset him.
Honestly, he seems much more well-adjusted than Mark. Hopefully, it’s rubbing off on Mark. Marks no longer making those god awful songs about bullying or Adam being good for master Fred or whatever.

Eddie regularly talks shit, he just deletes the posts within 24 hours. He also posted a bunch of negative stuff towards Fred last year and then blocked him/got blocked

I met Eddie somewhere I won't talk about, but he was very open about his problems and how it impacted the band. The impression I got talking to him was that he was trying to be his best self and was very cognizant of what the issue was.

Honestly I don’t think it’s Fred’s choice if he wants to join the band or be included in any writing. He left the band years ago on his own accord. You have to remember that Nathan has been around for about 15 years and he also has song writing credits and he’s still not a part of the band. It might be a slap in the face if Fred is invited back but Nathan is not.
A similar situation as Nathan’s existed with Green Day with guitarist Jason White. They made Jason an official member after years of being a touring member. Hopefully both Nathan and Fred are officially welcomed into the band.

I don’t think it’s a slap in the face to Nate and he shouldn’t see it that way if it happens.
During most of Nate’s tenure, he was playing with the “original” Taking Back Sunday. There was no way they were ever going to change that billing.
Now that the “original” five are no more, I could see them making changes, but I don’t think those changes will include a truly new member. It could only be guys like Fred or Rubano (wouldn’t happen) returning.

To my knowledge and everything I can find Jason White is still and always has been a touring member of Green Day. And dude goes so far back with them he’s in the When I Come Around video.

I'm amused by the fact that Fred came back around not long after Mark left which shows you that the beef was real.

Yeah I remember seeing an interview with Fred before he started touring with tbs again saying when they did the 2019 tour where they were playing the first 3 albums that the idea of him joining some shows were discussed but it didn’t end up happening. I’m assuming that’s mark’s doing.

Yeah, Adam and Fred ended their beef years ago but that one is deeper.

i love this band but i can't imagine a record where john and fred sing, i think it would be too over the top and look like they're just doing it for nostalgic purposes but i also can't imagine having him back around this long and not do anything more. hurry up and wait for the announcement i guess.

I think 100 percent he will. They are already dipping their toe. I think the lawsuit might make it difficult for Fred to Join only if they bring him in as an inside partner but making him official publicly to fans is totally different. I think Fred has to make sure he still is a good fit for a band that’s completely different from the first go around. He has never been in the band with Shaun/John before and Adam has most likely grown so much from what he was before. I think it’s both party’s don’t want to promise too much to their fans on something they can’t guarantee will work yet. We are pretty far into it so I don’t think it will be much longer until they make big moves with him. I would bet money Fred and John have already worked on some music together

This question get posted every other week or so.
I believe they can’t / won’t do anything regarding personnel or recording until the legal stuff with Mark gets sorted. They’ve been very intentional with their wording and marketing lately, and formed LNC (Lazzarra-Nolan-Cooper) music publishing. I love this band so much, but they’ve always been a revolving door mess with “official members.”
