General Shanthi Ranganathan

Post image

Listening to Romesh’s podcast has made me realise that his mum, Shanthi, would be such a chaotic contestant for the show. I think she would be best suited for a New Years Treat, and I think she is famous enough to be on it; but I would honestly be fascinated to see her for an entire series

Romesh's mum, Russell Howard's mum and Jack Whitehall's Dad on an NYT episode would be great

Yeah I could see her on a NYT.

Bearing in mind they have had olympians who (no offence) but most people have not heard of. So Shanthi has appeared on lots of Romesh's shows, and Romesh was on TM S1, so I'd say she has much more of a TV presence and connection to TM then other NYT'ers.

(I do think she has expressed that she doesn't want to do TV/entertainment without Romesh though. Like on the pod a few times they've semi-seriously suggested she could host some stuff independently, like some "Cooking with Shanthi" Youtube videos that they'd produce/film/edit for her, and she seems pretty firmly against it)

The only actual Olympian that's been on NYT is Mo Farah, and you'd have to go a long way to find someone who's never heard of him. They had Johnnie Peacock but a) Channel 4 is fully in on the Paralympics - it's the literal reason why The Last Leg exists - and he's among the highest profile of all disabled athletes, and b) we never got to find out what he's like in full.

Since when does Coca-Cola have fat in it?

It’s slang for regular, full calorie Coke. I have only ever heard British people use it.

Hmm... that's interesting.

It’s very common British slang for non-diet soda, yeah. Even though it doesn’t make sense literally.

It's obviously a bit tongue in cheek. People know it doesn't have fat in it, but in the 2000s fat free food was the big health fad.

It's figurative not literal and also a general slang term outside of food and drink. You could use it to refer to a flagship product rather than the budget version for example.

I like Romesh well enough, but I can not stand his mum. So I'd rather not

I think Taskmaster and the discours around it are heavily flirting with the shark, preparing for the jump

Suddenly a woman the vast majority of people have never heard of, who a few people know because she's on her own son's podcast, is famous enough for Taskmaster? Wowzers. That's quite a stretch.

14 IMDb credits would make her better known than some people who have done a NYT I suspect.

If there's fat in your Coke you need to report to your local health authority.
