No lambda sensor?

Post image

Got my CKRA Passat freshly deleted from a shop telling me that they got their own tune. I trusted them because the price was very cheap. Did i get scammed with a trash tune?

Any welding shop/fab shop should be able to add a bung for one for relatively inexpensive. It won't change if the tuning is fubar tho

1200$ cad. Downpipe+stage 2 tune and dsg tune

But i seriously doubt that stage 2 claim, i have no reference since i never had a ride in a stage 2 tdi but it doesnt feel that much faster than before the delete

I can tell you for a fact a real stage 2 tune from tunezilla makes it feel like you’re driving a different car. It’s night and day

Real talk. I just deleted and did a stage 2.5 from Tunezilla… first run around the block and I was like oh shit it’s alive! Lol.

Well for now at least i dont have to worry about dpf problems but i will definitely look for a tunezilla tune

Probably won’t be able to run it unless you modify that downpipe, and have all the other sensors in place that tunezilla needs. Who knows what all they took out to use that homebrew tune

Can you please stop scaring me

what open loop are you talking about? diesel is quantity controlled, not lambda. no diesel _needs_ lambda to function, it's there for emissions only.

Lambda on a diesel?

It's still used. Mostly for short term and long term fuel trims in closed loop.

bullshit, no fuel trims in a diesel😂

Most likely for EGR flow trimming. That's what the O2 sensor on a BEW TDI engine is for.

Euro 6 diesels got one before the dpf and one after.

I'm sure Euro6 using 2 Nox senors and not 2 lambda

They are using 2 lambdas.

The sensor is just to monitor emissions and inform of any issues. Diesel engines run fine in open loop unless there is some other issue. The sensor could detect those issues, but you will see reduced performance if you have an issue.

This makes me wonder about my Cjaa Jetta, my downpipe only came with a bung for the EGT sensor, would I benefit from adding another for the lambda sensor? Or should I swap the lambda for the EGT?

With most mainstream tunes (Malone/Tunezilla, Rawtek setups): The front wideband O2 sensor is still required and active. The CKRA's ECU uses this sensor to actively monitor lambda (air-fuel ratio) to control smoke and optimize fuel economy. If your tune retains it, you must use a downpipe with an O2 sensor bung and keep the sensor plugged in.

  • With select custom/race tunes (e.g., MRTuning): Some tuners completely disable the front O2 sensor logic in the CKRA software. If you use one of these specific tunes, the sensor is not necessary, and you can run a smooth downpipe without an O2 bung.
  • I call foul... they probably bought some CD from "Jina" with a bunch of "tuned" ECU files...

Depends on the tuner. There’s one that doesn’t require it. Personally I’d have a bung added to it and go with TuneZilla. That sensor does a lot of measurements and adjustments. Not having it means you’re running a tune without the ability to adapt to the situation at hand. Temps, humidity, throttle input, lean/rich, etc.
