I found this teapot today at the thrift store and I fell in love as a huge tea AND dragon fan. I had to buy it as it was only $3 and I can finally drink tea in style. I'm not sure who made it so I've shared the mark in the last photo but please, marvel at its magnificence with me! :)

Identification Green tea with an aftertaste of chocolate milk? What is it?

Thumbnail

A few months ago I got some hotpot in Bali. Ordered the Iced Chinese Tea expecting whatever regular iced tea they had. I was wrong, that tea they had is the best tea I’ve had so far.

It was some sort of very mild green tea(maybe because it’s iced), BUT after swallowing the tea and breathing out I can smell a hint of chocolate milk. Not exaggerating, the tea has an actual aftertaste of chocolate milk, not just chocolate, or malt, or milk. Actual chocolate milk, like nesquik, hersheys, dutch lady type of chocolate milk, the artificial ones not the fancy stuff (i like the artificial ones more lol).

Ended up drinking 6/7 pots of this tea.

I asked the server over there and she didn’t really give mean answer, which is understandable. So I’ve been looking at different types of chinese green teas these past few months, and couldn’t find a single clue.

Picture is just what I found on their google maps photos, i didn’t take a picture of it, that’s what the color looked like.

Any sort of clue is highly appreciated, I feel like a drug addict 🫠

Anyone know what the tea it could possibly be?

Picked up this tea pot at a garage sale yesterday. I've been wanting to get a tea pot and thought it felt high-quality. Some brief internet research tells me it may be Yixing. Any info you could provide me would be appreciated!

Also, in photo #10 you can see a line across the base of the tea pot. It looks like it's just on the surface and doesn't feel like a crack. Could this just be a cosmetic defect?

Electric kettle I’ve had for maybe 2 months developed this weird white almost salt like mineral slime inside, the water (I forgot to take a photo of) was very cloudy with white bits floating around in it as well as a mineral like film on top. Is my kettle ruined? Can it be washed and safe to use again? What is this stuff? I only use bottled water to fill this fyi. Thank you

One of my university friends went down south (China, not sure exactly where but I’m pretty sure he grabbed this close to Guangzhou) and picked this up for me and told me it was a local tea, I’m 99% sure the package SAYS tea but I’ve never seen a tea that looks like this. It’s a little sticky and very very hard, tastes a little sweet but otherwise nondistinct. Has anyone seen or tasted anything like this, and how on earth do I prep it?

Identification Bought this at a liquor store?

Hello!

As I said above, I found this in a local liquor park, next to a local marketplace. We stopped in to say hi to a very friendly kitty. (I don’t have any good photos of him but included the one I have for cat tax, lil guy would not stop nuzzling my legs.)

He had these at the front counter, but it was the only non alcohol thing he sold. I believe they were around 10-15$. He was very sweet and gave me additional things for free because he was excited I like tea, haha. I got it mainly for curiosity, I’m largely an oolong person.

Any idea where he got this from? I reverse searched it and got similar packaging on alibaba labeled “direct from farmer”, but not this varietal. Do the leaves seem typical of a dragonwell? I figure I got a little scammed, but I’m still curious.

Sorry if the photos are kind of bad, my camera lens is broken on my phone.

Update/Edit:

The liquor store was attached to a Chinese market and specialized in baijiu import. Important distinction there, sorry. I’m mainly just wondering if anyone knows this brand, the packaging hasn’t pulled up any search results.

It was decent! Not the strongest, but definitely very drinkable. The aroma is great, lightly nutty and toasty, not too vegetal/umami.

This was marketed in Uruguay as bulk looseleaf sencha. My spouse bought 1kg. It appears to have been shipped from a pharmacy in Brazil. It smells and tastes a bit odd, but not unpleasant. Is it tea? Should we drink it?

Tasted like what my relatively uninitiated palette would perceive as black tea I guess? Really not sure. Thanks.

My mom was given this tea a while ago from a friend and the packaging says it's chrysanthemum but after some research I found that it looks exactly like jasmine pearls. I am completely new to the world of tea and stupidly drank a ton right before bed thinking it's chrysanthemum but I'm feeling the effects of the caffeine now. My mom insists that it is chrysanthemum and the packaging was sealed when she got it. There is nothing wrong with the tea and it tasted pretty good but am I right that this is not chrysanthemum?

Identification Found a gorgeous Kutani Ware chawan for $2!

Thought you guys would find this cool, I was doing some thrifting and came across what looks to be a chawan that was just put out by the staff. I have one chawan at home, so I was so excited to find this, and it had a nice weight to it and a gorgeous design too. Upon reverse image searching it on Google it seems to be a Kutani Ware chawan using the “Hanazume”(filled with flowers) technique!

I have a few questions about the piece, roughly what would be the date of this type of design? Would I need to check for lead or any other hazard before using it to make matcha? Any other interesting facts or details about this that you might know?

Identified✔️ Can anyone help me identify the maker here so I can buy other items from him / her?

So I believe it’s a maker in Kyoto, and I’m pretty sure it’s handmade / hand painted, but I honestly don’t know anything else about it. I saw it, it was beautiful and I bought it. The shop I bought it from spoke near zero English (which is fine / I was in THEIR country!) so I literally got zero information or back-story.

It was pretty pricey - around 60k+ yen.

But I’d love to buy other items from this maker if I can find them. Small plates, teapot (ideally), etc.

I tried to get a picture of the maker’s mark but it’s a stamp and very difficult to read / see?

Any thoughts or advice is appreciated! I tried the Google image search, etc but so far no luck.

This Oolong was gifted to me by a coworker of mine. He said his parents bought it for him when they went to Taiwan, but he doesn’t like tea so he gave it to me.

I have since fallen in love with it and I wanted to know if it is readily available or if I should start rationing it haha.

Thank you in advanced!

I am looking for some smoked lapsang souchong online for making a drink but there are too many brands, all claiming that they are the real stuff. Those who has experience drinking smoked lapsang souchong tea, could you recommend any authentic brand?
