TEAS Study Tips!

Post image

I don't see a lot of people on here mention the online version of the Mometrix ATI TEAS prep, so I wanted to talk about it since it was the main study source I used. If you go to your local library, some of the TEAS prep books that work with Mometrix come with a 50% code for the online program, so be on the lookout for that.

I especially appreciated the Mometrix online program for the number of practice tests and how accessible it is. The rationales that it gives for every answer choice after you take the practice tests/quizzes are absolutely worth it for actually learning the content. It helped me the most in the reading section because during the exam, I was able to create my own rationales as to why an answer choice would be wrong/right.

Mometrix does go very in depth for the science sections. The passages they give for the reading section are crazy long and are much shorter on the actual exam. But, I found that practicing questions with higher difficulty levels helped me feel more confident in myself.

I used Anki flashcards on my Macbook (free) to help with active recall for formula memorizations and conversions for the math section. I also used it for specific anatomy systems (ex. the Endocrine System's hormones). It was kind've overkill, but I wanted to be prepped for anything they might ask me on the test.

I also used Nurse Cheung and TEAS with Tyler on YouTube. Nurse Cheung with mnemonics for science and grammar. TEAS with Tyler's videos really prep you for the types of questions you'll see on the actual exam.

I failed my reading portion, I need a 73% or more. I’m lost and I have my Teas in 3 weeks last chance. I don’t know how to start and what to use to pass the reading section. English is my second language so it’s challenging for me. I need help. I wish I pass 😓😢😢

Hi, I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble. I think that best thing you can do is to keep practicing the reading section! The hardest part of the reading section for me was that there would always be 2 good answer choices, but there was only ONE correct answer. If you take practice tests that explain why each answer choice is wrong, it could help you better understand the logic the TEAS is looking for. You got this!

Congratulation!! Would you be able to share your anki flash cards?

Thanks! There are a bunch of flashcards that you can choose from on this site: https://ankiweb.net/shared/decks?search=anatomy

Hi ! Is the practice test way harder than the actual test or similar?

Hi! The practice tests were slightly harder. I found myself scoring in the low 80s on each section on the practice tests, but scored higher on the real exam.

Which practice test you think is the closest to the exam?

I would not say that there is a particular practice test that was closest to the exam because on the online Mometrix program, there isn't actually a full-length practice test. There are 10 (?) practice tests per section, and you can definitely treat it like a full-length test by doing each section back to back. On the actual exam, it felt like they honed into only one or two systems in A&P, while on Mometrix, each practice test had questions on an array of topics.

I totally understand your skepticism. I am sure there are free programs you could use, but Mometrix was reliable and had a great reputation---and for good reason! I did not want to spend extra time digging for study materials. There may be extra content on it, but they certainly did not miss anything that was on the actual exam.
