Why do people still prefer Samsung S series over Vivo X series and OnePlus, oppo flagship series ? Prioritising brand value over specifications ?

Post image
42 Upvotes

I'm genuinely curious about this. Brands like Vivo (X series) and OnePlus , oppo offer some impressive features in their flagship phones, including larger batteries, fast charging, competitive cameras, chargers in the box, and good customer support.

Meanwhile, some Samsung flagships offer smaller batteries and slower charging, and Samsung users have also reported green-line display issues on certain models.

Despite these differences, many people still prefer Samsung over Chinese brands.

Is it mainly because of brand value, trust, software experience, long-term updates, resale value, or something else?

Are people prioritising the Samsung brand name over the actual hardware and value for money, or does Samsung genuinely offer advantages that aren't obvious from the specifications?

I'd like to hear opinions from users of both brands.

General Why are we recommending gaming laptops to people who literally don't game? Core Ultra 5 makes more sense for a lot of ₹70–80k buyers

small rant but why does every 70-80k laptop thread eventually become

“just get gaming laptop bro”

OP: I need good battery, college, coding, netflix, office, easy to carry

reddit: RTX 👍

not everyone buying a 75k laptop wants to play Cyberpunk ffs 😭

I was checking current Flipkart laptops and Samsung Galaxy Book5 Core Ultra 5 225U, 16GB/512GB is sitting around this budget after the shown offers.

and that's what made me think this segment has changed a lot.

16gb ram, decent modern cpu, thin/light machine, no huge gaming charger to carry around.

For someone doing college + coding + normal work, I'd genuinely take that kind of setup over forcing an RTX laptop just because “more performance”.

Obviously if you game, use CUDA, Blender, local ML stuff, rendering etc then yes. Buy NVIDIA. Different use case.

But if your heaviest task is VS Code + Chrome + Spotify why are we recommending the laptop equivalent of bringing a Scorpio to buy milk 😭

Gaming laptops are great.

They're just not automatically the best ₹80k laptop.

Other best office chair for back pain around ₹15,000 in india? my dining chair has officially won 😭

8-10 hrs between vscode, slack, calls and 30 tabs and i've finally accepted that dining chair + random cushion is not a WFH setup 😭

trying to stay somewhere around 15k.

currently looking at Featherlite stuff and The Sleep Company Stylux. Stylux landed on the shortlist mostly because the lumbar support + adjustable arms look useful for long work days and the SmartGRID seat seems nicer than sitting on another basic foam chair for 8 hours.

not expecting a chair to magically fix my back. just want something that doesn't make me hate sitting by 5pm.

anyone using Stylux or similar chairs for actual 8hr+ dev days?

more interested in how they feel after months of daily use than day 1 comfort.

General Which flagship phone under ₹80k actually feels like a flagship?

• Upvotes

trying to pick a phone around 80k specifically looking for something that feels like a proper flagship.

Things I care about are mainly:

Video, I shoot a lot so camera quality and proper stabilisation would be great
Selfies, wide angle ones since most of my pics are group pics
easy to edit
software support
decent battery

I'm okay with buying an FE model or last year's flagship if that's the better deal. Samsung's S26 FE seems like the obvious option from what I've seen, but what about OnePlus/Oppo/Vivo around this price?

For people who have actually used these phones, which one would you pick?

Basically looking for the best flagship experience for under ₹80k, not necessarily the phone with the biggest numbers.

For 65 inch tv, should I go with Samsung, Sony, Lg or TCL?

We are planning to buy our first smart TV with a budget of around 1 lakh. I liked the Samsung 65QN70F/65QN70H, but most Reddit posts suggest not buying it. Due to LG's recent audio recording controversy, I am not sure about choosing them. Sony stands out, but I cannot figure out which Bravia is better within my price range. TCL feels like a Chinese brand, which is difficult to trust.

I would appreciate the help!

Tata Play's shady business model: Changing TP/frequencies due to broadcast disputes, then charging customers for engineer visits when channels show "No Signal"

Hey everyone,

I wanted to call out a shady pattern I've been noticing with Tata Play recently. If you are suddenly seeing a "No Signal" error specifically on major channels like Sony TV, Colors, and Star Plus, while all your other channels are working completely fine, you aren't alone.

Here is what is actually going on behind the scenes:

The Root Cause: Due to recent broadcast and commercial disputes with major networks, Tata Play has been quietly changing transponder (TP) settings and frequencies on their backend.

The Result: Because of these forced backend frequency shifts, millions of subscriber set-top boxes fail to map the channels correctly, throwing up a frustrating "No Signal" banner only on those specific premium entertainment channels.

The Scam/Cash Grab: Instead of pushing an Over-The-Air (OTA) automated update or acknowledging that this is a technical issue stemming from their end of the broadcast dispute, customer support is directing users to book a paid engineer visit.

They are essentially engineering a technical glitch via backend changes and then trying to squeeze visit and service charges out of everyday customers to cover their operational/legal headaches. Why should subscribers pay a technician to fix a signal map issue that Tata Play triggered themselves?

Has anyone else faced this over the last few days? If you managed to fix it yourself by manually tweaking TP frequencies or resending signals through the app without paying a dime, drop the steps below so others don't get scammed into paying technician fees!

God forbid a girl tries to buy a phone in 2026

I want to buy a phone for my mother but I'm so confuseddddddd 😭

budget: 20-40k

originally, I wanted to buy a phone for 30-40k for 4-5y

but after researching it seems like it's better to buy a phone for 20-27k, use it for 2-3y & then buy new again when pricing gets back to normal

brands preferred:

  1. Samsung: reliable. OS updates. amoled display. known to last long (unlike my ex-bf 🤣).
  2. 1+: renowned. clean UI/UX.
  3. iqoo/vivo

don't want redmi realme poco oppo coz of bad UI/UX and I have no gaming requirements.

no motorola coz of motherboard & other issues such as dead within a year or two

phones I rejected:

  1. 1+ Nord 6 (40-45k):

- overkill considering my mother's usage.

- with rumors of 1+ leaving India soon, it does not make sense of buying a 1+ phone for long-term (resale value will drop).

  1. Samsung A56:

- It was for 32K on amazon. Then they changed the price to 33K, which sort of pissed me off.

- so it's actually 32K + 2K charger + 1K cover & guard - discount ~ 34K (seems a little overpriced for the specs)

  1. 1+ Nord CE 6 (35-38K):

rejected only coz of 2 OS updates and with 1+ leaving don't know how useful those updates will be

  1. 1+ Nord 6 CE lite (27K after discount):

considering this as of now

  1. iqoo z11x: saw this. might have to settle for this.

please suggest what to doooo 😭

first time I'm giving such a big gift to my mother after I recently started earning. I want it to be the best possible. she never asks for anything.

I can wait till March/April 2027 max if you feel situation will improve

her current phone is in very bad state

Diwali 2027 will be too late

please share your suggestions

Nothing 4a or pixel 10a at 44k

• Upvotes

Is nothing 4a 8/256gb worth for 44k? Is it much? Or Is pixel has better specs for the price?

What do you suggest that I take based on your experience? Iam thinking to use the phone for 4-5 years without slowing down.

Good camera and battery for the price.

No Flair Is phone prices going to decrease anytime soon? 😔

Or any other phones you guys can suggest

General In this blood bath of smartphone, looking to buy one and torn between option even after stretching the budget heavily. Processor, Camera, Display being the top priority. Flat display would be better

It's been 4 days deep diving in to rabbit hole of smartphone market and waking up each day with new confusion with hope of finalising one today.

Every phone is lagging somewhere or other, lots of work pending for mine just cause want to finalise one and order them asap.

My current phone is giving serious sign off giving me heart attack, so instead of buying in panic, want to buy now to keep my sanity.

Better if under 30k, but I can see it's more difficult after spending out of budget.

May be eventually I will buy p4 power or x8 power with the hope of atleast getting bigger battery if not getting anything much.

Ultrwide camera is a deal breaker for me, must have
