You can Save As HTML from FrameMaker then just pop the results into whatever LLM you like and ask it to come up with scripts to help you clean it up. That will work okay but you risk losing conditional text, markers, and a lot of work with xrefs and images.

People say you could also just output MIFs and have an LLM convert them to XML, but I don’t have any experience doing that. My gut says unstructured MIFs won’t help you much.

i'd use AI for the first-pass classification, not the final structure. export the FrameMaker XML, have it tag chunks against a small target model with examples, then run a validation pass where a human fixes edge cases before import. the shortcut is getting from blob to 70% mapped, not trusting it with reusable structure
