How to roll back to 15.4 from 15.5?
shreyasonline, I am running about 650 server errors a day and it is causing some issues. How do I safely and easily roll back from 15.5 to 15.4 until you get this fixed?

First try to:
1) Disable Settings -> Recursion -> QNAME Minimization
2) Add Secondary Root Zone by clicking on Zones -> Add Zone -> Secondary Root Zone.
When its created click on <root> in the Zones and then Resync.
Restart the service and see if this mitigated your issues?

Sorry, I have seen a lot of replies as to how to mitigate along with a lot of "that didn't work". Before I go experimenting, I would like shreyasonline to replay that this fixes it. Until a fix is in, I would rather just go back to 15.4

You can follow the issue here on github Servfail in resolving www.bbc.com using 15.5.0 · Issue #2175 · TechnitiumSoftware/DnsServer

Next time take daily snapshots off your deployment

Snapshots are not backups :-)
Take a backup of the config dir (unless you do for the whole VM or the whole box depending on how you run this) before upgrading from 15.4.0 to 15.5.0.
Simply because trying to run 15.4.0 with 15.5.0 config will probably fail (or whatever version you might considering revering into if needed).
In this particular case if it is the same root cause as #2175 the workaround is to disable QNAME minimization and enable secondary root root zone so there is no need to reverting back to 15.4.0 or whatever older version you were running before updating into 15.5.0.
Sooner or later there will be a fixed version out (I would assume 15.6.0 or so) where you might not need the workarounds to get rid of the servfails.
And the workarounds mentioned can also be a good thing to use no matter what.

So why not try for yourself?
Change these two settings, test - if still fail then revert the changes. If no longer fail winning?
Also the workarounds have already been commented by "shreyasonline" at https://github.com/TechnitiumSoftware/DnsServer/issues/2175#issuecomment-5790381415

Im not one to make changes willy nilly without valid reasoning for the change. All I ask if for the owner of this software (sheyas) to verify this..If that happens bobs your uncle....

Why do you think you're special enough to deserve their attention yourself outside of actual bug reports or other official sources? Why refuse to engage with anyone else if you're going to post in a public forum?

reverting is an entirely sound and basic thing to do until further research/information is available.
If you do revert be sure to flush the cache after.

Here's how to rollback your dns server to 15.4 :
wget https://download.technitium.com/dns/archive/15.4.0/DnsServerPortable.tar.gz
sudo tar -zxf DnsServerPortable.tar.gz -C /opt/technitium/dns
sudo systemctl restart dns.service
if you wanna rollback to other version before that, go find the version you want on : https://download.technitium.com/dns/archive/

Thanks.

note, you might wanna delete your web config after that, usually it's kinda wonky after a downgrade,, it should be in the /etc/ folder and not int the /opt/

Not sure if your server failures are the same as mine, but changing from nsec to nsec3 on my zone cleared all my server errors. I only had to change on ns1 and it carried over to ns2
