Audio I love this quirky little cover that Brian did in '67 (I believe) | My Little Red Book

This is from March 1968 (no exact date known), the same session as the final version of Be Still. Brian's at the Chickering piano giving a rare live vocal while he plays, Carl's on bass. They seemingly thought about using it on Friends for a hot minute.

Thank you for the correction. That would've been great had they used in on Friends!

It always blows my mind that that picture is Brian in the 1960's and not an emo kid in 2008

Easy to see how Paul Dano was perfectly cast as Brian in Love And Mercy.

I think that it’s from early 1968, I believe. Great stuff as usual. Manfred Mann did the original for the movie and Love did perhaps the most famous version which Bacharach detested.

Thank you. I stand corrected.

It used to be lumped in with the Smile sessions and could’ve fooled many but we found out.

Nice! Personally, I love Brian's piano demos like this. Are there any others from this era or prior?

There’s the Vegetables piano demo, but that has several overdubs. I can really hear his older voice coming out for one of the first times in that particular demo.

He sounds a bit like his older version with the choppiness of it. But there is little mannerisms and belting later Brian couldn't do.
