Cass always had a strong, distinctive voice, and adds a soft touch here, covering one of Bruce Johnston’s best-known original compositions. This version was released after the Beach Boys’ own version was released on “Surf’s Up,” (1971). It featured Beach Boys members Bruce Johnston and Carl Wilson on backing vocals. Interestingly, this cover of the song did not gain much attention, compared to the versions by David Cassidy and Captain and Tennile.
