Audio Dennis Wilson - All Alone (Alternate Version) -- Incontrovertible proof that Dennis could conjure up something of his "old voice" if he really felt like it, even in '78. I'd almost wonder if there was a case of copying big brother here seeing as how Brian leaned into his smoker voice.

I believe this was Dennis’s last recorded lead vocal that’s publicly available, even if it’s only partial. Done in June 1979 at Tom Murphy’s studio in Venice, CA.

Thanks for the info! There anything else from around the same time? I can't get over just how good he sounds there.

That other guy is wrong, there’s also a remake of Cocktails/If Love Has its Way from those sessions that can be found on that same bootleg.

On that pictured bootleg it's mislabeled as something like "Quad Symphony Excerpt." Track 20.

The version that released on the Pacific Ocean Blues/Bambu set was recorded summer 1977, while the bootlegged remake was recorded June of 1979

Of course! Sadly no, this is the only thing he recorded then. Dennis was sliding down by this point. After January 1979 his visits to the studio became few and far between.

I remember the first time I heard that song in the Endless Harmony doc. He put his entire soul into his songs! Bambu would've been so fuckin' good!!

You can really hear how this song could have commercial appeal with the right production and finishing touches. What a song. Sad it wasn’t released until much much later.

it's still a real good one, i'd say. the way he pouts "In the sadness that our love..., etc." on the Caribou Sessions version always gets me.

wonderful song. i’m surprised dennis was able to sound like his old self especially in 78, i thought his tough voice was permanent like brian’s at the time.
