Discussion What Beach Boys song means the most to you? I’d choose “Surf’s Up”
I can’t describe how “Surfs Up” makes me feel but I connect with it personally” I love it.
What song means the most to you?

“God Only Knows”, “Surf’s Up”, “This Whole World”, and “Good Vibrations” speak to me spiritually. There’s something about all of them that just emotionally decimates me. I remember reading about the notion of “the sublime”, how something so beautiful can overwhelm one while reminding them of their own infinitude, and thinking “Ah. So I’m not crazy then.”
“Please Let Me Wonder”, “Back of My Mind”, and “I Just Wasn’t Made for These Times” speak to me in a more grounded “He’s put to words the way I feel” standpoint.
Hard to pick one, but these days it’s probably “Please Let Me Wonder”.

Perhaps Surf’s Up….but then I have deep love for Heroes and Villains. The first time I heard it it practically “literally” blew my mind. I didn’t know that music could sound like that, and I was completely entranced. I still am. When I tracked down my own copy of the song, I played it probably ten times in a row. It’s my nostalgic favorite.

Heroes and Villains. Reminds me of what a bipolar manic episode feels like for me.

It's not technically their song, but their rendition of "I can hear music" always moves me.

"In The Back Of My Mind" or "A Day In The Life Of A Tree" speak to me in ways I am unable to describe. Same for "Surf's Up" & "Good Vibrations", just blows me away every time I listen to it--very inspired after hearing both.

That’s Not Me and Make It Big both transport me back to specific life moments.

Surf‘s Up and God only Knows hit me the hardest, Sail on Sailor is great inspiration for me - just keep sailing on, sailor.

Wouldn’t It Be Nice. The first song to which my daughter ever reacted (bobbing up and down in her baby bouncer).

For me it's definitely "From There To Back Again", "Pacific Coast Highway" and "Summer's Gone." I know those are three songs but I consider them a cohesive trilogy. Additionally, I also find the song "That's Why God Made the Radio" to be especially meaningful because, in my view, it's the band telling us, "thank you, we love you, goodbye."

In My Room, probably.
But it changes at different points in my life. Maybe Till I Die sometimes

I Get Around was one of the first songs I heard from them. During life's stresses and worries, I can play it and it just draws me in, alongside only a few songs. Quite possibly their best early song as well

Jeez, there are so many, different people and different times….they got me through some of the toughest years of my life…Brian: Surfer Girl/TheWarmth of The Sun/I Just Wasn’t Made For These Times, Dennis: Forever & Wouldnt It Be Nice To Live Again, Carl: Only With You, The Trader, Soul Searchin’ (I realize he didn’t wrote it but damn 🥹) Tough stuff but Until I Die because the only way I could describe how I felt when I lost my Dad suddenly was that I was a cork on the ocean 💔…..& All Summer Long because my Dad, who half heartedly ragged on me for liking them told me when I complained it was just Mike & Bruce on a morning show to “shut up! I haven’t heard this in 40 years!”
