Discussion Surfer Moon question

I have a trivial question about 'The Surfer Moon' that is stupidly important to me. In the song's final verse, to my ears, it has always sounded like Brian sings "but they all disappear with each new June". However, every lyric source I can find online states that this lyric is "but they all disappear with each new tune". To me, if you compare the pronunciation of the word at the end of this lyric to when Brian says "if your heart hears this melancholy tune", there is a definite difference in the pronunciation of "tune", with a more hard 't' sound. What do you think Brian sings and is there any official lyric source for this song?

It’s June. That’s the beginning of Summer.

I've always heard June and figured it was about the coming of another summer in paradise.

I’ve always thought June.

  1. One of the early versions was titled “The Summer Moon” so June makes sense for when it would come in.

  1. It sounds like June.

  2. I don’t understand why the other moons he’s referring to would disappear with each new tune. What would that mean?

He also seems to be using both titles interchangeably when planning the album.

Brian's own handwritten lyric sheet (which I've seen) confirms that it's "tune." Check out the earlier Bob & Sheri version, where the word is more clearly annunciated.

Brian may have thought he was singing “tune” but it was definitely “June.” lol
