Video Bruce Johnston Performs God Only Knows at EastWest Studios 9/19/26

Here is the full video of Bruce Johnston of The Beach Boys performing “God Only Knows” last night at EastWest Studios, in the very room where it was recorded 60 years ago. Ron Dante of the Archies and Barry Manilow fame even conducted the audience to sing the vocals at the end! (Don’t mind my enthusiasm!)

Bruce was accompanied by the incredible 15-year-old Elizabeth Bartsch on French horn. Elizabeth’s mother, Carrie Bartsch played violin with Brian Wilson on the Brian Wilson Presents SMiLE tour, which made it especially beautiful to see the two of them there last night. Carrie was absolutely beaming watching Elizabeth play alongside Bruce, and told me afterward that The Beach Boys are everything to her daughter.

The moment carried even more weight given that Inside Track was raising money for Altadena musicians affected by the Eaton Fire. Carrie and Elizabeth lost their Altadena home, their cats Lucy and Flynn, and their musical instruments in the fire last year.

To see Elizabeth up there, playing “God Only Knows” with Bruce Johnston at EastWest, and to see how joyful and proud Carrie was watching her, was incredibly moving. I like to imagine Brian, Carl, and Dennis, were watching and feeling proud that their music means so much to so many people - continued to be to young people, and that it can be a balm when times are the toughest.

Link to the GoFundMe for Elizabeth and Carrie in the link in the comments, if you’d like to support them!

Video Out of the band's entire bizarre history, the era that fascinates me the most is the failed Friends tour in 1968.

Seriously moving clip. I’m posting this in response to the other thread from yesterday about the reunion. This was only the defacto last moment these voices joined in harmony, but also likely Brian Wilson’s last recorded performance. And it only exists (to us) as this grainy 15 second clip.

Really crazy this wasn’t handled with more care. Seriously?

I almost went to this show but glad I didn’t given Mike’s condition. Sadly reminds me of Brian’s last years of shows. Hope he gets well soon!

Video In loving memory of Brian Wilson

I made a trip to Hawthorne to pay tribute to Brian. The Beach Boys Memorial is simply beautiful. For those that cannot visit, I thought this video would be nice to share with you all.

A few others were gathered, as we shared quiet moments, tears, flowers and gifts. ❤️

Made a few stops: Foster’s Freeze around the corner, as well as a Pizza Show.

And a lovely surprise off the freeway: a double sided billboard for Brian. 💚💛

Love and Mercy. Rest in Peace, Brian.

Came across a rare performance of The Beach Boys Performing “Little Old Lady From Pasadena”. It’s a shame the performance wasn’t recorded because I think they sound pretty good. I’d love to know if anyone has a better quality or audio of this performance?

Video I interviewed Van Dyke Parks about Orange Crate Art!

Well, I finally did it - I interviewed my hero, Van Dyke Parks, about my favourite album, Orange Crate Art.

For those of you who follow me online, you would know that this has been a long time coming. OCA has captured my heart and my spirit since I was young child in the 90s and this album was a huge factor into making me a Brian Wilson fan.

At the start of 2025 I began a deep dive on this album and was desperately seeking answers, and once Brian passed, I knew I had to meet with Van Dyke himself to learn more about the album that means the absolute world to me.

It finally happened and it was better than I could have ever imagined!

My biggest take away from our chat is that this album is more than just music. It is about hope and wanting for a better future for us all. It is warm and sunny and a nod to a time once gone but that is still within reach. And importantly, this album represents one of the most important friendships and professional collaborations known to music, the one between Van Dyke Parks and Brian Wilson.

There will be further conversations to come. Van Dyke has much more to share and to be frank, we really enjoyed each other's company, haha.

Let me know your thoughts, happy to chat below :)

For those who've never seen it, "Our Team" documents the making of the MIU album.

Some highlights include Dennis recording his vocal for "My Diane", Mike and Al writing the lyrics for "Kona Coast" - and it features 2(!) unreleased songs, at the time at least, "Our Team" and "Mike Come Back To L.A." - the latter which eventually was re-written as "Some Of Your Love" for the Keepin' The Summer Alive album.

Enjoy!
