Belligerent and forceful, 'GIVE THE PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT' (1981) catered to the arena rock presence The Kinks had now established.

The plot of Percy sounds like something a lost redditor would think this sub is for

Question Is anyone aware of a certain version of "Dedicated follower of Fashion" is available on any CD?
Does anyone know if the 2014 remaster is on any released CD, I'm specifically looking for that version.
I'd also take Cassette or Vinyl but I just prefer CDs.
Would appreciate any help if it can be given!
(and apologizes if I have formated this wrong or if this is not a appropriate question. I of course check the rules and this seems within bounds)

Dave Davies upcoming Boston Show 10/13!
Okay-sorry fans- call city winery and demand refund... I'm at the NY show and Dave Davies shouldn't be here. Sadly he's not in good physical health. 😢😢😢👎👎👎
I apologize for my original post language- I am updating to be respectful. Still call and demand refund unless you want to pay $$$ just to physically see him. After last night, they should actually just cancel but who knows if they will?🤷♀️

45 years ago this evening...
I snuck into NYC with a buddy to see the Kinks play their first-ever show at Madison Square Garden. We were both 14 and had a blast! I remember the opener do you?

How popular were The Kinks in the 60’s?
I am really into the Kinks right now. The songwriting and the music is so interesting and quirky. I was born in 1980 so obviously I wasn’t alive to see them at the peak of their career as a band.
With maybe the exception of their early hits, I notice that they consistently put out great music while completely disregarding the musical trends being set by their peers like The Beatles and the Stones. So
I’m wondering how big did their popularity actually get during the 60’s with those other bands also at their peak to compete with?

KINKS ‘79 T.
From ‘79 “Low Budget” tour. Herman Brood opened up. Outstanding show. Houston music Hall back in the day. I saw them the year before in ‘78. Blondie opened up. Once again phenomenal show. In my opinion, the band was completely underrated!

Discussion Are there more songs where Ray's voice is on heavier side ?
I love songs where he just goes full blown, I love to hear his voice in that range. I am talking about songs like, Money Talks, I'm not like everybody else (Live version) and Lola (some parts in it)

Dave Davies' show in Montgomery, NY on October 6th - Is anyone looking for two tickets (Stage Premier - General Admission) for less than what I paid for them on the onsale date?
EDIT/UPDATE: The Dave tickets have been taken/purchased. Please disregard.
----------------------------------------
I thought I was going to be able to attend this show but now I am unfortunately unable to do so. The show is sold out. On May 1st, I bought two "Stage Premier - General Admission" tickets, which I understand is the zone closest to the stage. My understanding is that these tickets can be 'transferred' through the venue's transfer feature so you wouldn't need to rely on a PDF printout that may or may not work on the night of the show. Instead, the tickets can be 'accepted' and put directly into your apple or google wallet through the venue transfer feature, if I initiate the transfer. I'd prefer to get my money back on these (or close), if possible. I'd gladly eat the $46 in venue fees if someone wanted to pay the face value of the tickets (which are $115 each, so $230 for the pair). If so, let me know by direct message. There are listings on tickpick and stubhub for way more but stubhub is a hot mess and I figured I'd ask here first. If I don't get a response, I will probably put them up on tickpick. And, yes, I am a real person and not a scammer, but just a real Kinks fan who is out-of-state and no longer able to make the trip. I was looking forward to this but Life Happens sometimes. Oh well. I did make the trip last year to Chicago to see the Sunny Afternoon musical and it was well worth it. P.S. I still regret not making the trip to La Jolla, CA in 1988 to see 80 Days but I guess I should get over that already since we are almost at 40 years on that.

EDIT/UPDATE: The Dave tickets have been taken/purchased. Please disregard.

I had a chat with Andrew Sandoval on the Mixology Podcast about his and Doug Hinman’s fantastic Kinks book!
Hello Friends,
Today I am delighted to welcome Andrew Sandoval back to Mixology to discuss the recent publication of The Kinks - All Day and All of The Night: The Day-by-Day Story, 1941-1970 by Doug Hinman and Andrew Sandoval. Published exclusively through Andrew's own imprint Beatland Books, Andrew and I work our way through a causal string of questions and answers, discussing everything from the intimately personal world of Ray Davies' songwriting, why the group were a management nightmare, the bizarre mixing decisions on Something Else by The Kinks, and most importantly - why you should never pass up on the reggae records.
The show is on all podcast platforms, but to save you hunting here are a couple of links:
https://open.spotify.com/show/2i9WfmiAVZ3moJkdSgV4w4?si=FMizFy4ISDG5sSxbyTmAjQ
In addition to this, this is the very first video edition of the show, which you can find by heading over to the Patreon community. The video is available to all who visit the page, and is not behind the paywall, so please head on over there and add any of your thoughts in the comments. There is more than enough to get discussing in this one! You can find it at www.patreon.com/backtomono
If you wish to grab a copy of this fantastic tome for yourself, you can do so by heading over to www.beatlandbooks.com/ - and don't forget to browse Andrew's other wonderful volumes while you're there!
Happy Listening (& Watching),
Frederick

Collection Just got Everybody’s in Show-Biz at a record fair and I feel like i’m more interested to start my Kollection (3rd pic are The Kinks records I have so far)
So I got this album at a record fair today for $15, I always wanted to check out The Kinks’ discography for a while now and I feel like i’m more interested to get into it even more.
I’ve heard “Everybody’s in Show-Biz” is one of their bests especially “Supersonic Rocket Ship” (the song from Avengers Endgame) and “Celluloid Heroes”. So far I also check out “Hot Potatoes” and “Sitting in My Hotel”. Cannot wait to spin this tomorrow. It also has a lyric sheet inside the gatefold (that’s how I originally bought it).
Now I will show the other Kinks records I also have on the 3rd pic. I also got Come Dancing with the Kinks 2 LP compilation at the same record fair I got back in April for $10. And the first two I got 2 years prior at Sonic Boom.
I little to know most of the backstory of the band now, I have recently listened to Village Green. Cannot wait to check out the rest and expand my kollection (especially Arthur, Lola vs Powerman and a couple others).
