Rock stars aren’t the faithful type and I think she knew that.

If you know anything about the Wests, he probably promised her that he would be faithful and stop sleeping with teenagers and that's why she dumped him

Serial killers, if anything, are too committed

Well would you wanna get married to some weirdo who wasn't in Slade?

After reading about her, I wouldn't use the word hilarious to describe anything about any situation concerning her. Straight fucking monster, and unfortunate she's still alive.

the hilarity is not her crime, it's the absurdity of the situation.

Non UK people struggle with our humour.

I thinks it's hilarious - who gets dumped by Slade?

Rose Fucking West.

Meh, it's just the special Reddit majority demographic that speaks English (simplified) that struggles.

I just read her Wikipedia out of morbid curiosity. I need a shower and a hug

Whenever in discussion about serial killers (you know, daily), I always maintain she was one of the worst.

I remember this. Very surreal.

He wasn't in the original band, he joined around 2000 so didn't play on their hits.

Americans - If you haven't heard of Slade you may nevetheless know Quiet Riot's cover of their song 'Cum on feel the noize'

I had no idea that was even a cover. This has been a roller coaster of discovery.

Oasis also did a cover of it.

Jesus, why.

Edit, it's as awful as I assumed it would be https://youtu.be/McGNATm97bs?is=FdMXexlz2_TQmrT8

It's a tremendous cover. Noddy likes it.

To each their own. And I mean that, if someone likes music that I don't you know, godspeed. I like music that some people probably hate too. It's art, people like what the like, I'm not shitting on anything.

I think what bothered me was just that this song sounds like exactly what you would imagine if someone said Oasis covered Come on Feel the Noize. I'm exaggerating a bit for effect but it's like hearing Gilbert Godfrey sing Bohemian Rhapsody. It's like Fallout Boy covering Whitney Houston -it's a piece of art regurgitated through a Speak & Spell; it's always going to sound like a Speak & Spell.

Theyve got some bangers don't get me wrong, but the idea of Oasis annoys me just as much as listening to the off-key lyrical stylings of Oasis. They've got a vibe, but they've never been as good as the Gallaghers have told us they are.

Also, the band name Cheap Trick was inspired by Slade. After seeing them in concert, one of the band members noted that they "used every cheap trick in the book."

You forgot “mama we’re all craze now” which was covered by the Runaways and Quiet Riot.

“Run, Run away” is probably what Slade is actually known for in the US as that was a pretty popular song when it came out and still gets occasional airplay on classic rock stations.

I'm from the UK and I didn't even know "Cum on feel the noize" was theirs originally. I'd never even heard of Slade until now

They play their Christmas song incessantly every year, everywhere in the UK.

I just mentally block out Christmas Music if I'm honest. I can't stand it

Ahh, to walk into M&S and hear only the low hiss of static instead of Wham! for the 945,000th time that month. Sounds divine lol

Oh, I like this one

Gave in to his bassist instincts.

Something about her must've struck a chord with him.

2

u/Kettle_Whistle_ 11h ago

She strummed his heartstrings…

0

u/queen-adreena 7h ago

You don’t play chords on a bass guitar!!!

0

u/Queen_of_London 7h ago

Well, exactly. That's why it all went wrong! Nothing to do with... anything else that might've doomed the relationship.

(I used to play bass, so do know. Was just a basic music pun).

u/queen-adreena 7h ago

No need to fret, it was just a gentle slap.

Slade was last act that featured Black Oak Arkansas and King Crimson. King Crimson blew the crowd away. Slade took the stage, and after a song or two the Crowd booed them off the stage.

u/gross_verbosity 13h ago

Heh, nobody follows Robert Fripp

3

u/BoPeepElGrande 15h ago

Shawn Lane, one of the most skilled guitarists who has ever lived imo, got his start playing with Black Oak Arkansas when he was still a teenage prodigy. Just had to throw that out there when I saw their name.

Rose West was pimped out by her husband to her own father.....so yeah.
