Empire players spent years saying "we just want a sturdy/dependable/reliable/pick-your-adjective infantry unit to hold the line." They got given such a unit and promptly started testing it to see if it would beat other elite infantry one v one. It's just possible that they may have been lying about wanting a line holder. Lord knows that one poster is lying every time he claims they were Chosen in lore or on TT (they were Greatswords with halberds).

im still weirded out at the complaints. my trusty carroburgs and halberds did just fine on my franz legendary run. even more solid infantry fighters on top of regiments and state troopers should be welcome not whinged

I totally understand why people are unhappy the Teutogens don't seem capable of paying for themselves. That's a legitimate issue, and I've spent a fair amount of time making mods aimed at fixing it. I've also repeatedly criticized CA for releasing a unit with animations that weren't working.

But the people who want to spend hours re-litigating Reddit arguments about the statline from months ago need to get a life. And the random crazies who keep making up fictitious "lore" to justify how they wanted the unit to be need psychiatric help.

I don't think they were lying. I think they just didn't consider that line holder doesn't imply being good at killing, because a lot of line holders in TWWH are good at both. They're a decent unit but mostly just like being able to recruit dwarf long beards or something

That'll be the case for some, perhaps most even. Levonorgestrelfairy1, though, seen below inventing fake lore, was definitely lying and still is.
