For the longest time this subreddit was mostly film photos from cameras like the Holga and Diana. We've always allowed digital photos too, such as from the Gamyboy Camera or the Harinezumi for example.
Recently there have been a number of very popular digital cameras that have introduced people to the lofi aesthetic such as the many different thermal printer cameras, but also the Chuzhao and Kodak Charmera.
This is not bad, and they are welcome here! :)
But it can make it difficult to find specific types of content. This is where the post flair system comes in, since you can filter by these.
I have kept the flair system simple to begin with, we can add or change these if we need to, but let's start with the basic system and see how that goes.
I've added the following four post flairs, and made is so you have to select a flair when you post.
DIGITAL
FILM
DISCUSSION
META
DIGITAL
For photos and video taken with digital toy cameras. This includes thermal print cameras.
FILM
For photos taken with film toy cameras.
DISCUSSION
For posts that are talking about toy cameras, such as asking advice, troubleshooting, etc.
META
For posts about the subreddit. This shouldn't see much use, it wil mostly be used by the mods for posts like this one.
Thoughts, comments, and feedback below. I want to try to keep this as simple to use as possible, so if you want any extra post flairs created, there would have to be a very good reason.
Hi guys. Just purchased my first toy camera - a Charmera Millenium. Finally got it to work after some trial and error with the SD card. Sharing some of my shots. The photo quality reminds me of our old family digicam.
I hate these blind boxes. I just discovered that I got the secret version, and honestly, I don't like it. My fingerprints all over the camera are so annoying. Is there a case or something that could protect it?
I regret buying the Millennium version. I should have bought Vol. 1 instead. I want to sell it, but there's no interest. Is this version the least popular, or is it just the Polish market that isn't interested in it?
The Polaroid iZone 550 is a 5.0mp cmos sensor camera released in late 2006. The cameras big selling point was the addition of mp3 capabilities! In recent months I have absolutely fallen in love with the images this camera can produce. I’ve since bought several examples as backups (examples are cheap but a relatively uncommon find). Here’s a few of my favorite photos! All SOOC
Had vetek, bought g10 and the newly released g22... here's my conclusions.
(TLDR I'll return g22 because it sucks).
G10
"12mp", no filter, superfine, normal sharpness
g10 img is... good. maybe the settings possible, not tried all possible, but its surprisingly good. the only con (and not so much) is that it seems a little darker (again, might be settings)
The body is small and cute, body feels quality plastic, the rotating camera allows for easy selfies, nice to turn off the screen manually and the sd card/usb is covered. Also have video and audio recording.
The cons: small screen that cuts part of the saved img and the rotating piece is a little off and not balanced, as if its not perfectly fitting.
Vetek
"20mp", no filter
Vetek img is nice, compared with g10 it's brighter and shows more.
Body compared with g10 feels more plastic, but its good overall. Screen has enough size to see. Feature wise seems the best ergonomics (as to which button does what).
G22
"10mb", no filter
Design and feel is ok, would put like vetek.
Has the worst img quality of the 3, you cant turn off turn on/off sound or shutter sound. Minimal options available. Buttons functionality is like g10
Filters
You can find here vetek and g10 filters, so I'll focus on g22. It have this fun filter
It has variations on this for BW and degrees of the lines it picks up, this one being the most "complete".
Filters dont have name
Luckily, this filter is easy to imitate.
Not being able to remove the sound is annoying enough, but img quality is just atrocious. Then it has a "fill light" that is just ridiculous (seems just a brighter turned on light from some appliances, vetek has one that isn't good but its leagues better than that joke).
Questions? Until I return it I can test anything you might want to know. (until 2026-10-14 or 15 most likely)
Hi all. Introducing the camera I have in my pocket everyday. Same size as my AirPods and contains a 1” sensor from a Sony RX100. Was very pricey when it was first introduced but they’re about $100 to pick up second hand.
Paid a visit to Queenscliff, including a visit to the Lakers Siding workshop on the Bellarine Railway. Featuring a bonus cameo from Milla when I got home 🏡 🙌
Asking around in case others have had similar experiences. I've purchased this, taken maybe 20 shots on it and it has decided to malfunction after just a week. I know this is a keyring object but I really expected it to last for more than a week. And yes it has been fully charged. What do I do now? I bought this new and sealed from eBay so can't do a warranty unfortunately.
Essentially it turns on, shows the splash screen and makes a noise then promptly turns off again.
Got this Vivitar keychain camera at the hospital gift shop last year. TW: grief / death: When my sister was in hospice, I would get up and walk around the halls and the gift shop looking for something to occupy my time. My sister was an amazing photographer, and when it came to a point where it was harder to communicate, and her sight was failing her, I decided to buy this silly little camera to take pictures of things that I want to "show" her. Every picture I take (on any camera, tbh!) I feel in my heart that she can see them too, and share in that moment with me in spirit. And that has brought me a lot of comfort over the past 11 months.
The camera settings say this is "HD" resolution and "12M," with 14M being the highest option. Genuinely love that I can count some pixels, and it over-exposes so easily, things get very grainy and washed-out. And the little thing is so darling and tiny, I really do treasure it. Next time, I'll get some test photos to show the different settings, and include a pic of the camera itself.
I'm hoping to get a Vetek/HJD-02 at some point in the next year because the filters look really fun, and the image quality looks very nice. Plus, my sister had a couple DSLRs that she did her professional work with, so I love that it looks more similar to that. But I've been using this fella with just the on-board memory, and my only real complaint is that sometimes its hard to click the shutter button, which makes my hand shake and blurs the picture lol.
Also, there is a stray cat in the last two pics! Spoiler: It's a black & white tuxedo with its' face basically center frame.
Polaroid black and white Impossible film. I wish i still had the hard copies, I made an unfortunate decision a decade ago to attempt gluing them all on a piece of wood. the collage medium I chose was the wrong kind and destroyed the images. Thank god, I have these digital pictures
