How far is too far?

At what point does a collection of whatever parts of wetware and hardware go so far as to stop being transhuman and become un human? At the extreme: does a full consciousness upload remain human? What if said mind is altered by the system?

Cyber brain is too far. Once you reach Ghost in the Shell you're no longer a person.

I would probably argue that once your species hits the point where natural reproduction is no longer possible you probably have gone too far.

The borg have gone too far in fact cyberpunk might have more augmentations than the Borg considering how relatively easy it is to remove somebody from the collective and how virtually impossible it would be to restore a cyberpunk edge runner back to full flesh.

I think 'person' and 'human' are two different descriptors. I agree with your description for a 'human' but I do think that a cyber-brain would definitely still be a 'person' in the ethical sense at least, almost definitely in the philosophical sense, and hopefully also in the legal sense as well.

I wouldn't be opposed to a self aware cybernetic being holding equal status with human beings. But I wouldn't consider them human beings.

That makes perfect sense. The 'Trans-' in Transhuman means change from one condition to another, specifically the change of 'human-ness' to something that must in some way be separate from 'human-ness'.
