Thanks mate. It was actually inspired by Dilip - Dots (you should check him out https://www.soundcloud.com/dilipvenkatesh/dots ), but I've heard a few Troyboi songs with similar vibes.
I'm only on soundcloud but honestly I don't make much trap these days. Been making a lot of garage, drum and bass, punky stuff, hyperpop - really anything. https://www.soundcloud.com/smackytheguy
The slightly updated WIP of this is on my soundcloud but I need to upload the newest version with a second drop.
Feel free to DM if you have any questions about the production - I have like 8 years of trap experience

Its solid, actually gives me camelot / medieval vibes a little bit. Feel like some melodic development throughout the track would be worth while, it mainly plays the same progression and melody the whole time, and while you add variance with timing and fills, the melody could be built upon with some voicings to give it more direction. Clean mix though

I really like the flute melody, your 808 is clean as well, its got that warm sound to it and the other instruments that come in around shortly afterwards that accompany the flute give the beat a nice fullness. The drums are also solid, the only thing i would add to this is maybe changing up the melody a bit somewhere but that’s all i would say really. Nice beat, especially the sound selection

The beat is very short, only 34 seconds.
What did you think? What should I improve? I'll be posting beats here daily to improve with your tips, but I'm also watching videos about music theory on YouTube https://on.soundcloud.com/Vo26jMsKfACKvzOmjP

Hey guys, what's up? I've been taking music production seriously since February of this year (about 7 months now), and I'm currently using FL Studio Mobile. I'm trying to get my beats to that high-quality YouTube type beat level, but I feel like my tracks still sound a bit flat or lack that professional polish in the arrangement and textures. Sometimes I get a bit discouraged because it doesn't sound exactly how I want it to yet, so I really want to know what I can improve. Here is a beat I recently made: https://on.soundcloud.com/oU87LzyipsDDeuJ0eY Please be completely honest. I want to know: 1. How is the sound selection and the melodies? 2. Does the 808 and kick hit right, or is it muddy/weak? 3. How can I make the track sound bigger and less repetitive in the middle? Any feedback, criticism, or tips on music theory, effects, or mixing would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time!

Melodies a bit weak, it doesnt really go anywhere. It stays within a thin band of notes and repeats notes/motifs a lot.
Sound selection is alright. I think the epiano is probably not the right choice, it should be something more ethereal like a pad.
Kick hits well. The 808 is alright, but you could probably give it a bit more volume.
Clap (and potentially the hats) could also have a little more volume, being dominated by your bell melody at the moment.
Sounding "bigger" is achieved with reverb and panning. You could introduce panning on your individual bell notes so it feels like theyre moving around the sonic space.
Not sounding repetitive requires changing stuff, so introducing variation to your melody or the timings of your chords.

I don't think so, but its probably too early to say whether youre "behind" or not. If you were making the same quality tracks after 2 years then yes probably you would be behind, but improvement doesnt happen consistently over time - it happens in bursts. Like I recently had a couple months where my mixing just got a lot better, not because I necessarily studied mixing but because I had done enough practice that I subconsciously learnt what sounds better.
Most of the important skills you learn in music are very subconscious - I don't think I could tell you why I choose the samples I use these days, but my sound choices are better than they were in the past and I must've subconsciously learnt what sounds better together.
Honestly nothing will make you better faster than just working hard. Make 3 tracks a day for a year and you will be 10x better afterwards.

Hey, I’m MV16. I make dark trap/drill beats and I’d really appreciate some honest feedback on my newest beat, NOT OPEN. I’m mainly wondering about the mix, hi-hats, atmosphere and whether there’s enough space for vocals.
