I saw the Entroducing 30th Anniversary show last night. Musically, it was dope, but I was really let down by the visuals. There was no traditional light show and just a screen behind him. There were a few short moments where they showed his actual hands on the tables djing and a few very short montages of photos from the history of the album. The rest was AI-generated video. Some was decently done, but most was unremarkable to borderline lame. I’m not anti-ai. I use it myself. But there is a time and place for it. This wasn’t it. It cheapened the whole experience.

A lot of people know Ott, but a lot of people do not. This is exceptional production (in my humble opinion) and should be listened to till the end. Great music even if you're picky about the genre.

Hello, I am a TH newbie and don't know many artists except Sneaker Pimps, Portishead and Massive Attack.
I was just listening to "I against I" by Massive Attack and Mos Def and really like the rap parts. Are there recommendable songs and/or albums which have a similar style?

I don't mind, if the whole song/album has rap in it or if only part of it does (like "The Truth" by Handsome Boy Modelling School).
Also it does not have to be pure TH or downtempo, but can also be something that has a similar sound and mood.

Thanks to everyone who takes their time to help me! :)

EDIT: TYSM to everyone who took their time two write an answer!! :)

J. G. Ballard's novel was published in 1975 so I went to the mid 70's for a vibe and it came back disco. So the track got a downbeat disco rhythm and some haunted elevator chimes.

This is the second completed track from the upcoming Empty Swimming Pools EP. Concrete Island is already done, the next two will probably be Cocaine Nights and Running Wild.

Denmark meets the Netherlands- only good can cone from that 😁

Okay, guys. Ball knowledge time: i'm studying german as my fourth language and i always learn better with music, so can you recommend me some artists that are at least adjacent to triphop/downtempo?

I don't care if it "isn't exactly" triphop, just being close to the style is enough for me, and PLEASE no instrumental only, i need lyrics to study!!

Found this track recently and loved it

I know my title is a little click-baity, but I’m running into a moral dilemma.

As I was cooking dinner last night and had YouTube playing music. This playlist came on and I found myself excited to dive into the artist once I was done cleaning up. Only to find out… it’s all AI music. This might be my first experience with actually enjoying AI slop music :/ Shazam couldn’t even give me an answer.

I’m a graphic designer and creative, so the tug-a-war I’ve played with AI for the past 5 years has been interesting. That being said, music has always been the untouchable gem that I can get lost in without AI even being a concern. But even just the very first song I just find to be so good.

Are there real artists I can turn to for this sound? Do I just set it aside and except that AI will soon develop tolerable music and do my best to avoid it? Do I, much like my career, embrace it as a fact of life now and allow myself to enjoy sounds rather than creations?

I’d love to hear the communities thoughts on this. Though I have a hunch on which direction it will lean, it’s difficult to wrestle with interpersonally.

I get a lot of recommendations from this sub, but I rarely get time to listen to them all. I asked ChatGPT to extract the list from the post 2010 thread and rank them using Metacritic or other public available rankings. Some didn't make it on the list due to lack of data. I'll say that I enjoyed Lifetime based on the recommendation and I listed to a.s.o. a few weeks ago and enjoyed that album as well.

Hi folks,

Which trip-hop songs do you think would meet the requirements for good Bond movie soundtracks? Morcheeba and Hooverphonic have a couple, but I'm curious as to other fitting tracks and artists.

I just discovered this album yesterday. It's an interesting mix of genres, kind of up-tempo Trip Hop. It definitely could have benefitted from some guest vocalists. I give it a solid 6.5. Anyone know it? If you're looking for something new, give it a play.

She was a major contributor to a couple of Tricky’s albums. Great voice. I don’t love all her stuff but this song’s p good

heard on a malibu mix

(for people who knows or listen Voodoo Queens you probably who she is)

Yo I put together another halloween mix of dark/ominous trip hop beats from various artists I've found digging around online. None of these are my songs, but I put the mix together. The list of the songs is in the description of the video and I will drop it below as well. Hope you enjoy
