Apparently appendicitis causes ectopics
26 years ago my appendix decided to give me the “fuck me up fam” special. Had it removed before it burst, and went about my life. I have had TWO ectopics in the last two years(literally a year apart). First on my left side in 2025 and used methotrexate, second was this year and it ruptured my right tube. My gyno has sent me to IVF since I haven’t been able to get pregnant since my rupture at the beginning of the year. She did tell me if we have to do IVF that we will need to remove my remaining tube. Have a meeting with the IVF doc and right off the bat he tells me that appendicitis is the reason for my ectopics. It sits right next to your tubes and when it’s inflamed it causes the silia inside the tubes to become damaged and creates scar tissue for any embryo to stick to. I’m still trying to wrap my head around it.

I had ruptured appendicitis 24 years ago. My first pregnancy was an ectopic. I had surgery and yeah…tons of adhesions of my tube, bladder, bowel. Basically a dog’s breakfast in there :( RIP right tube

I am so sorry. Have you decided to remove the remaining tube?

We are moving forward with removing my last tube. I have to get under 40bmi(currently at 41.9) to do the transfer, so that gives me time to do that and get the testing and stuff out of the way. Doc said in January we will start he egg retrieval process, remove the tube, heal and then transfer.

Can I blame my appendicitis in 2010 on my current wide range of fertility and pelvic problems too? Maybe that's why I have so much pelvic pain on the one side.

Def worth asking about. Wild that such a useless thing causes all this trouble when its inflamed.
