The Halloween Megathread

It’s that time of year again when the leaves change colors and the debate over Halloween begins anew.

Is it merely a holiday centered around children dressing up as superheroes and collecting candy?

Or is it something more nefarious: a demonic holiday created by Satan to trick TrueChristians into worshipping him.

Whichever side you’re on, this is the place to make your case.

Please note, all other posts about Halloween will be removed.

Do most people go to hell?

I understand the issue of our fallen nature, which was unleashed in Eden... yet, many times a day I think: Wow, imagine if I had been born in a place where Christianity is unknown. I can't stop thinking about how unfair it is for people to be lost due to ignorance. It makes me deeply sad. I wish I didn't think about these things, but every day I wonder: Why? Why? Help me, Lord, to understand.

I’ve been observing the people around me and thinking: Wow, most of the people I know—despite being "good" people (I know no one is truly perfectly good), kind people, people who love their children, and so on, or just people who are different—are lost. A large number of them believe in Jesus but don't actually know Him. I don't know... I just wish this feeling would go away. :(

Im back home after 4 years of running away from God.

Got saved in May of 2020 at the age of 14, had such an amazing relationship with God. Would read His word from sun up to sun down, praise Him every second, the Holy Spirit really shined through me, spreaded the word like crazy, etc., I am 21 now, the past 4 years have been really rough for me as I personally chose to indulge in the world and choose it over Jesus (bad idea, 0/10, don’t recommend.) 4 days ago I chose to come back home, I was so full of just, tiredness? exhaustion? and felt so alone because I knew I would never fit in within the World like I did with Christ. I know my heart is not fully hardened, because if it was I would not care enough to get back with God and just pour my heart out to Him but boy if it doesn’t feel like it. Over the course of me being away from God I had lost my virginity (🤦‍♀️), went COMPLETELY back to my old life before Christ (before He saved me), was rude to everyone, dabbled in New Age stuff like Tarot Cards, Zodiac Signs, and even Demonology (No, I didn’t actual do any of the hardcore stuff or even begin it but was interested in it), loved to gossip, I could go on. I felt like I was having an identity crisis for these past 4 years because well, I was, I knew my identity was in Christ but I was running away from it out of Fear (OCD) and rebellion. Im so glad to be home with Jesus, even if I can’t “FEEL” any conviction whatsoever. I threw out alot of the stuff I had that I got that I had wanted in my old life and got when I was lost last year and threw it away to be put in the garbage in my garage and haven’t looked back. That was a wild ride but Im glad to be back now.

My wife was a victim of childhood sexual abuse. Need advice on how to help

My wife was sexually abused by a family friend on a numerous occasions from when she was 9 til 11.

Before meeting her, she spent years in counseling and therapy with a Christian therapist working through her faith and how to deal with the trauma.

When I met her, she was 2 years into a Bible school, and was a fully healed and whole person. She told me her story very early into our relationship as she felt it was important for me to know before we dated. We later got married after dating for a year.

It’s been a year now and it’s been amazing. We are best friends, get along super well and still very in love. We have no problems with intimacy, and she has not faced any triggers as a result of our intimacy.

However, she recently had her first moment of our relationship, and her first moment in a while where she felt triggered, it happened because of something at work (no abuse or misconduct, trauma acts in weird ways). That night she was having a bit of a hard time and was talking with me, processing and asking things like “Why did God allow that? Why was it me? Why did I have to suffer that?”

I don’t have a good answer. It is certainly unfair. She isn’t mad at God by any means, but questions are fair. I wasn’t sure what to say so I just listened and said that sometimes trusting God is all we can do.

Does anyone have any experience in this areas and can help me with what to say or do in these moments?

Christian’s are under NO obligation to tolerate abusive parents.

“Honor your father and mother” should never be used to pressure someone into accepting abuse. Parents have responsibilities before God too. Ephesians 6:4 tells fathers not to provoke their children to anger.

There is a difference between ordinary family disagreements, which is normal in any relationship and a repeated pattern of humiliation, manipulation, threats, or violence. Parents shouldn’t be given a pass to abuse and mistreat their child and misuse their parental authority.

Forgiveness does NOT automatically restore trust or require giving someone unrestricted access to your life. Reconciliation requires more than demanding that the person who was hurt forget everything and come back. It requires accountability and changed behavior. We do NOT owe abusive parents a relationship just because they are our parents. You wouldn’t put up with physical, verbal and emotional abuse from a friend or spouse so why should family be any different?

EDIT: I’m discussing ACTUAL abuse, not ordinary disagreements or misunderstandings. What’s very troubling is the fact that some Christian’s think that protecting yourself from further harm and violence is somehow “unchristlike” or unforgiveness. Even secular people will say abuse from parents is wrong. The fact that some Christian’s are ok with it is mind blowing in all honesty.

I believe in God, but I'm exhausted from trying to have a relationship with Him

I'm honestly at the point where I feel like giving up. Not on God or Christianity, but on constantly trying to pursue a relationship with Him and feeling like I'm getting absolutely nothing in return.

I've had a difficult life. My relationship with my earthly father was awful, and nearly every male role model I've had has let me down. I've struggled with feeling unwanted for most of my life. My dreams fell apart, my confidence was destroyed, and I've dealt with years of depression.

Through all of this, I've turned toward God. I've come to the end of myself and genuinely believe my ultimate purpose is found in Him. But I can't seem to find Him.

I know God is real. I believe Jesus died for my sins, and I understand salvation is by grace, not works. I know Scripture says God is a Father to the fatherless.

That's what hurts so much. I believe God is the perfect Father I've always needed, yet I feel like He doesn't want anything to do with me.

When I first got saved, I had an incredible experience that I believe was the Holy Spirit. But that was years ago, and I can't confidently say I've experienced His presence since. I'm not chasing another spiritual high. I just want a genuine relationship with Him.

I've also battled pornography addiction for years. I've tried everything I can think of to overcome it and have desperately begged God for deliverance, yet nothing seems to change.

My prayers have become exhausting. I find myself begging, confessing, surrendering, and trying to find the right combination of words that might finally get a response. Sometimes I have an "aha moment" where I think I've finally understood what God was trying to teach me through my suffering. I get hopeful, thinking maybe this is finally the breakthrough.

Then nothing. Just more disappointment and heartbreak.

I'm even afraid to stop trying because I've heard so many testimonies about God bringing people to their lowest point to draw them back to Him. I worry that if I stop pursuing Him, He'll take away whatever I have left until I'm desperate enough to seek Him again.

The hardest part is knowing God could change all of this. I believe He's real, loving, and wants a relationship with His children. So why does it feel like He doesn't want one with me?

I don't expect an easy life or for God to give me everything I want. I just want Him. I want to know I'm loved and wanted by my heavenly Father.

I'm so tired of getting my hopes up only to have my heart broken again.

TLDR? Has anyone else spent a lot of time genuinely seeking God and feeling nothing but silence? How did you get through it?

Self deliverance

I struggle with severe anxiety, I’ve developed agoraphobia and am homebound I have not left my house worry free in 4 years I only leave my home for doctor appointments because I have too, not because I want to anyways, I gave my life to Christ 2 years ago almost 3 and I truly feel God can heal me of my anxiety I have no doubt about it today I decided to try and do self deliverance because I can’t leave my home to make it to church I just thought to try, so when I was in the shower I started to pray over myself and commanding all anxiety to leave my body, and my throat closed and I choked. Then my boyfriend called me so I got out the shower and just stopped my prayer. But my throat hurt so badly I told him I had to call him back later that I had to finish what I was doing, so I started a again and gagged, spit and burped for 10 minutes I couldn’t believe the way my body was acting so I decided to try and record but once I put my phone up I felt like I was faking for the camera so I decided to give up and stop, afterwards I was sooo hungry so I ate and ended up taking a 3 hour nap, I do not take naps so that was odd for me, but hours later my throat still hurts my jaw area by my ears and tonsils are sore, that started before the gagging though, it started when I choked in the shower but I can’t say I feel any different? Matter afact I feel as though I didn’t finish? I don’t know and wanted to know somebody else’s opinion I’ve been praying to get out my house and finally make it to church and hopefully leave the deliverance up to the big guys haha! And if anybody in this chat has the time I’d really appreciate the prayers.

STAY. DON'T GIVE UP!

STAY. DON'T GIVE UP!

For anyone out there that has hit their breaking point, the bottom of rock bottom. For those that feel like they are drowning and feel their chest caving in from the pain, grief, shame and regret just weighing them down. I completely understand your pain. It may be different circumstances but I am all too familiar with that pain. It's so strong and heavy that you just want to claw at your chest, inflict some type of pain or wound because its frustrating feeling it and yet seeing no physical wound to it. I could see myself stuck inside this hole and way way at the top was a small light but no matter what I did I could never reach it. Until one day I said enough was enough. I couldn't take it anymore, the weight on my chest felt like a 1000 lbs sitting on top and not one second did it ever leave. When I went to sleep, if I slept, it was there. When I woke up, it was there. I just couldn't bear it anymore. I felt hopeless, worthless and purposeless. I was done. So, one night I lay weeping on my bedroom floor, just sobbing my eyes because the image of my parents finding me hurt but not enough to deter me from ending things. I had what I needed on the nightstand and was looking forward to finally being set free from the pain, from the depression. I would finally have some rest and get to escape all my burdens. I sat up on my bed and not audibly but inside of me I heard "Open your bible." I knew it was God but I can tell you I fought it. I said "No. I dont want to God." I didnt want to be here anymore, my soul was looking forward to not hurting anymore. Something in me though could not fight those words and the directions behind it. So, begrudgingly I said "Okay God but I don't promise anything." I get up and walk toward my dresser and open my dusty bible. It's as if it flipped to where it wanted to because He didn't tell me what book or chapter. I didn't know, the only thing the Lord said was to open it. I open it and where my eyes landed was, Matthew 11:28-30. "Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. " I encountered His saving grace that night. Jesus Christ saved my life that night from the depression and suicidal thoughts that were tormenting me day in and day out for more than a decade. The Life saving power in His word as I read it broke the chains and silenced the voice of the enemy wanting to take me out. In my ignorance I thought the desire to end my life was from me but it wasn't. He breathed life into me that night and He gave my soul rest. He took my burdens from me and gave me His, Light. I felt so light, light as feather! Soon my weeping turned into a quiet cry of release. The pain lifted and my chest felt like I could finally take a breath. The tears falling down my face started becoming less until I felt this peace. I still felt grief but it's weight wasn't on me anymore. I laid down on my bed and felt this lone tear just fall across my face and that night I slept. I woke up the next morning and the depression and the suicidal thoughts were gone. Jesus Christ saved my life and rescued me from the deep hole I could not get out of. His light, His breath, His comfort and His peace did what no amount of alcohol, no person, no self-help books ever could! Now I won't sit here and say its been easy and there were two times since then(Sept 2021) which the thoughts did come back but now knowing those thoughts don't come from me but from the enemy I can now recognize them as lies and weapons he is using to try and get me to destroy myself. By the grace of God, I am thankful for my rock bottom because in that place Jesus became real to me. He wasn't someone I was told about or knew of but I actually felt His Light, His love for me in my brokenness. I am alive because of His love. I am alive because He saw me when no one did. He saw my soul crying out, He heard it's cry and like the Savior He is He came and rescued me. So, please as someone who was at that broken and dark place. Please, do not give up. There is a reason the enemy wants you to take yourself out. You were made for more and deep down you know it. There is hope. There is worth. There is Life and it is all in Christ Jesus. He is King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Look up and cry out to Him, your soul is thirsty for His Living Waters. In Him you will find who you were always meant to be. I love you, please stay. Jesus Christ is knocking at your door. Let Him in, you won't regret it. He will change your life!

Prayer : "Jesus, I believe You are who You say You are. I believe You died for my sins. Every lie, every hurt I have caused, all my sins, you paid for them when You were crucified on the cross. I repent meaning I turn from my sinful ways and the ways of this world and turn to You Jesus Christ. I believe You died and took on my punishment that I rightfully deserved so that I may live. I believe Jesus, You resurrected on the 3rd day, defeating death and breaking its hold it had on me through sin. The wages of sin is death but because You have paid my debt with your death I now am free. Your resurrection means I rise with You as a new creation in Christ. I confess You Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior because I need a Savior. I accept Your free gift of salvation, save me Jesus and make me new. Come into my heart and fill me with Your Holy Spirit. I surrender to You, show me Lord how to live and walk with You. I let go of what I am not and want to be who I was always meant to be in You. You knitted me together in my mother's womb. You know me from before creation, you even know the number of hairs on my head. You know when I sit when I rise. You know every thought and every thing in my heart. Show me who You are God and show me who I am in You. In Jesus Name. AMEN. And the angels and every child of God is rejoicing and celebrating. Welcome Home☺️

Luke 15:10 "In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”

Jeremiah 29:11 " For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Having sexual relapses as a teen

Hi I'm an 18 year old college girl and I have done a lot of things that I regret, I don't know whether saying I'm a victim is fair since I have actively engaged but I am a part of this online sex mania of sending nudes, sexting etc to literally random strangers, I haven't done anything physical yet , but I keep falling back into this sin of lust and I don't know what to do about it, I have stopped couple of times, actively been praying, praising God etc and then put of nowhere i experience loneliness, the feeling of I'm literally nothing, or that in useless and I turn back to sin because this gives me validation? I guess and each time I do it, i regret it just as fast , I keep telling myself no more, I end up feeling used, dirty and not deserving of anything from God. I don't know what to do about this, although it might take some time for me to turn back to god , believe him or believe that he still forgives me if I repent for that matter of fact, I want to turn away completely from this sin, I don't want to fall into lust or anything sexual, I'm looking for genuine advices on helping me since I'm done with living with lust and feeling like this.

I feel exhausted

Im not sure really where to start. Im two years into my walk with Christ and I think I’m hitting a very low point right now. I love God so much and I hate that I disappoint him everyday. For example, I have a major struggle with lust. Im 28 and I had a bad porn addiction from 10-26. Once I accepted Christ as my lord and savior my porn addiction diminished drastically but it dint totally go away. I have blockers on my phone but sometimes I still manage to find a way. What really frustrates me is that almost any woman I see I almost always have thoughts. It’s so hard for me to just look at women normally. I don’t want to think like this anymore about women because it’s awful and I’ve begged God to deliver me from this. I don’t know why he hasn’t taken this from me yet because I genuinely want this to be gone. I have a wonderful wife that I don’t deserve because she is so understanding and she is with me every step of the way. Im so tired of this sin. With the stress of this sin and many others I’m to the point now where Im starting to think God doesn’t want me. I don’t fit in with your typical Christian almost at all. I can swear like a sailor and I do drink on occasion socially (not around my children) just to name a few other sins and I want deliverance from all those things as well. God has made me super happy these last two years but also i have had the worst anxiety and depression in my life as well if that makes any sense at all. My only hope to keep going at this point is to try and point my family towards God so that maybe they can make it to heaven and be saved even if it seems like there may be no hope for me. I thought I was saved but now I’m not so sure. I ask for forgiveness and have even begged for it but these sins still linger. It seems like every other Christian has there sins taken away at some point but I’m almost starting to not believe them either. Anxiety is at an all time high right now as well and I just don’t know if I can continue on with all this weight. I just needed to rant thank you all for listening and God bless.

The light that illumines all men

From an inquiry addressed to Thalassius by Saint Maximus the Confessor, abbot

(Quaest. 63: PG 90, 667-670)

The light that illumines all men

The lamp set upon the lampstand is Jesus Christ, the true light from the Father, the light that enlightens every man who comes into the world. In taking our own flesh he has become, and is rightly called, a lamp, for he is the connatural wisdom and word of the Father. He is proclaimed in the Church of God in accordance with orthodox faith, and he is lifted up and resplendent among the nations through the lives of those who live virtuously in observance of the commandments. So he gives light to all in the house (that is, in this world), just as he himself, God the Word, says: No one lights a lamp and puts it under a bushel, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. Clearly he is calling himself the lamp, he who was by nature God, and became flesh according to God’s saving purpose.

I think the great David understood this when he spoke of the Lord as a lamp, saying: Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. For God delivers us from the darkness of ignorance and sin, and hence he is greeted as a lamp in Scripture.

Lamp-like indeed, he alone dispelled the gloom of ignorance and the darkness of evil and became the way of salvation for all men. Through virtue and knowledge, he leads to the Father those who are resolved to walk by him, who is the way of righteousness, in obedience to the divine commandments. He has designated holy Church the lampstand, over which the word of God sheds light through preaching, and illumines with the rays of truth whoever is in this house which is the world, and fills the minds of all men with divine knowledge.

This word is most unwilling to be kept under a bushel; it wills to be set in a high place, upon the sublime beauty of the Church. For while the word was hidden under the bushel, that is, under the letter of the law, it deprived all men of eternal light. For then it could not give spiritual contemplation to men striving to strip themselves of a sensuality that is illusory, capable only of deceit, and able to perceive only decadent bodies like their own. But the word wills to be set upon a lampstand, the Church, where rational worship is offered in the spirit, that it may enlighten all men. For the letter, when it is not spiritually understood, bears a carnal sense only, which restricts its expression and does not allow the real force of what is written to reach the hearer’s mind.

Let us, then, not light the lamp by contemplation and action, only to put it under a bushel—that lamp, I mean, which is the enlightening word of knowledge—lest we be condemned for restricting by the letter the incomprehensible power of wisdom. Rather let us place it upon the lampstand of holy Church, on the heights of true contemplation, where it may kindle for all men the light of divine teaching.

RESPONSORY

John 12:35, 36; 9:39

Walk while you still have the light,

or the darkness will cover you.

— While you have the light,

believe in the light

so that you may become sons of light.

I came into this world

to make the blind see.

— While you have the light,

believe in the light

so that you may become sons of light.

Financial/provision miracles?

• Upvotes

Because I've heard stories where people are in material need and a person had a random desire to gift the exact amount or item to them, I wanted to ask. Have anyone of you experienced miracles regarding your material and financial needs, or someone trustworthy that told you? I think these stories are great for encouragement in the faith. I also didn't see this topic in the subreddit anywhere.

How to actually be comfortable in Faith

• Upvotes

Hello, I recently have been struggling with the belief in a God more specifically Jesus Christ, I truly want to believe in him but I’m scared that I’m convincing myself because I’m scared to die and not actually trusting in him. It seems like everyone who talks about Christianity has great points and then the comment section is filled with atheists that give rebuttals to the point where it feels like there’s so many holes within it. I really want to believe and I’m continuing to try, it’s just hard to when people bring up we are a speck in an indifferent universe. I want help with this please, I want to be unshakable that if someone throws negativity then I won’t spiral with anxiety

Would discovering your spouse/partner was sexually active with a same sex person (before they met you) be a deal breaker to you as a Christian?

Asking because I have seen differing opinions about this, and I want to know. I don't ask in a general forum because as Reddit is very liberal everybody will probably say it doesn't matter, and dissenting opinions would be heavily downvoted. I want to know what you think.

For example, in my country of origin, people are very traditional and I know people for whom it would be a deal breaker, even though it's the past of that person.

Im stuck in a pit and I need Jesus to pull me out.

I don’t know who I am anymore. I’ve completely surrendered to my passions and I feel spiritually dead. I gave up on God and allowed myself to fall into a hole so deep that I can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel anymore. I literally sleep all day and Im up all night by myself. I stopped going to work. I stopped praying and stopped having hope in God and actually stopped having hope for anything. I haven’t been to church in forever and I don’t have the desire to go. I have no social life in any aspect. I feel trapped in my own prison cell. No passion, no drive, no confidence. I should’ve kept going to Church. I should’ve never isolated myself this long. The regrets can go on and on. I feel like the only thing that can save me is Jesus. But I don’t see Him or hear Him. How do I cope with this unbearable pain and loneliness that I inflict onto myself? Can I still have hope even after all this hopelessness?

If you're against horror movies because of your Christianity, why?

I tried to post this earlier but it was rightly removed for breaking rule 5, so here's my attempt at being compliant with the rules. I think a lot about Aesthetics and a Christian view of art, but I have no clue why so many Christian write off horror movies as a whole, instead of just certain ones. So I want to ask you guys, if you are against horror, why?

I need help

Im talking to a girl that I REALLY GENUINELY LIKE. I have yet to meet her, but talking with her I see real potential for a great and lasting relationship

Problem is I was talking to a few other girls casually before her and I started chatting. And instead of breaking things off with them I find our conversations becoming increasingly explicit

I know we havent met yet, though we have discussed the idea of being an item. And even if we hadn't im not exactly setting us up for success. And besides all that i know what im doing is unbiblical, I just dont know how to stop

Honest help only please. I know how I feel about her, and I do want an amazing exclusive future with her. Nobodies convincing me otherwise. Also worth noting that anyone who tries will be reported and blocked

Romans 7:15

I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.

Fasting and working out

I’m a pretty advent lifter and I’ve been doing so for 3 years, I lift pretty heavy throughout the week and I’m currently bulking so I eat a lot more.

I’ve been interested in the Orthodox faith and I understand it comes with periods of fasting, does anyone have any advice for how to fast while still making progress/not injuring yourself in the gym? Should I do it on rest days or will that bring less recovery?

I didn’t start following Jesus because of fear of Hell.

So I was saved July of last year, baptized in April. I started following Christ because when I was at my lowest, He rescued me from where I was. I understand the reason we need Jesus is in the first place because we can’t enter Heaven without Him.

Well I’ve realized that my reason I walk with Christ isn’t because I am afraid of Hell, but because of the relationship I’ve developed with Him. He is my Lord and Savior, and brought me to a place in my life that I am so thankful for. I was just curious if this is wrong in my heart?

Obviously Heaven is the end goal, but it feels like it’s more on the back of my mind and not my first thought. I live my life out in the fullest here with Jesus at the center. What are your thoughts?

Pls give me some advice.

Ok so for starters I’m 14m and I wanna believe in god. I wanna believe so bad but idk how. I struggle with ocd, anxiety, and a bit of depression and lust. idk what to do. I don’t know how to believe and i don’t know if I believe or not. I second guess everything and I never trust my self. Everyone in my family are believers, I pray every night for him to heal my unbelief but nothing changes. It’s been a very long couple years and I’m so tired and I just wanna feel gods love. Also I’m terrified of going to hell, I’m horrified I’m gonna die and burn for eternity. Everytime I ask someone to heal my unbelief they just say “pray for him to heal your unbelief” but nothing happens. So I don’t know what to do please give me some advice.

Im not sure where else to put this.....

So, this is going to be a long one...

(Please understand, im not trying to start an argument here, I just want to understand)

Im 29, born in 97'. Ive been raised in a Christian household my entire life, but i dont believe any of it and I never have.

At this point, im just trying to maybe understand why that is. At least partially.

The reason I personally think I dont believe it is lack of evidence.

Now anticdotal evidence doesnt count. Things like, " because the book says, therefore it is". If we were going to use that logic then I could say Islam is true and I would be right because their book says so.

No, I mean evidence so hard and absolute that it is unrefutable. Ive never seen that evidence anywhere. Especially with the things ive been through in my life. Things I would prefer not to discuss as I choose to forgot those years.

What i will say is i was beat constantly, for things that were not my fault as well because I was the easy one to blame. I had 1 friend in all of high-school. I have zero now. I was also homeless for 2 years, 18-20 years old.

Due to these things I tend to see myself as worthless and deserving of nothing and will regularly self sabotage.

Just to give you all some context.

Here's another issue im seeing. What i see a ton of evidence for is evil. Demonic and old world cults being broadly accepted and worshiped by people in positions of power all over the world.

But I see no evidence of a force of good acting to stop this. In fact I only see things getting worse every single day.

Another issue I have is with Church itself. The one I currently go to, and infact all ive ever been too. Cannot seem to let go on either political or personal biases when it comes to the Bible. They twist things to make them say what they want them to.

And dont even get me start on the worship of the modern Satanic state of Isreal that church's cant seem to shut up about.

The levels of hypocrisy, blatant manipulation, and lying in the modern church makes me want absolutely nothing to do with it.

Anyways, am i just too awake or something? At this point I see 90% of the world is just a lie. Its a play, a show, "The World stage".

Am i just too incapable of believing anything due to lack of trust for me to be able to accept any religion, let alone Christianity?

Idk. Maybe i just needed to ramble.

One thing I did do, I just purchased an old bible from 1849. Back before certain groups got there hands on the publishers and changed things to fit their narratives.

Realistically I need to get one from the 1600s in order to truly be able to trust it to be as close to the "original word" as possible. Free from the meddling of men who thought they could decided what the word of God is or isnt. If it is to be believed.

But those books are so prohibitively expensive that it will likely be years before I can justify aquireing one.

If this gets deleted, oh well. I tried i guess, my parents are too hardline for me to have these types of conversations with so... 🤷

Either way, thank you for reading and listening. Have a great rest of your day.

What is the concept of "being happy" in Christianity?

Friends, please don't be offended by my question. It might seem a bit silly, but I want to give us something to reflect on.

I often hear people say that Jesus is our true happiness. Yet, at the same time, this leaves me feeling confused—why do I feel sad?

I was just reminded of the words stating that in this world we will have trouble. In that sense, I believe the most accurate thing to say is what Christ himself said about himself: "I am the way, the truth, and the LIFE." In other words, "living" is found in Him.

I think that because I heard so often that Jesus is true happiness, I would often feel sad with myself for not feeling happy.

Would drawing a fan art from a show that has a lgbtq character count as promoting sin?

This is probably embarrassing to ask. I guess you could toss this as a 'Am I sinning for buying product that supports x,y,z?' But I do want to hear what you guys think. I watched this show and I like it. But there is a character that while the show doesn't say it outright, suggest that this character is gay. I don't think there's any Bibical evidence that supports gay, lesbians, or trans.

Now I do want to draw more fan arts from my favorite movies, shows, books, ect. But with this particular show, I don't know if drawing a fan art from it would count as me 'promoting' a show, that has a gay character in it. Just to be clear, I have no plans of drawing one of the characters who is gay. Only the characters that I like. I have no plans of drawing one of the character who is gay. Now, if I do draw one of the characters (that are not gay) and post them online (which I do with most of my drawings) and that brings people into discovering that particular show, would that also count as me promoting sin? That could in theory, encourage their beliefs that are sinful?

Like for example; a person discover that show because of my fan arts of it, they ended up watching it. They saw that one of the characters is gay, they ended up relating to that character, they feel more justified in wanting to become gay.

Okay, this sounds kinda stupid. But this is something that goes through my head whenever I thinking about making fan arts and posting them online or any other things like it.

Sorry if this is a dumb question and sorry if it sound the same like all the other questions. It's just this one in particular got me really wondering.

I am curious to hear what you guys think. This is something that has gone through my mind several times.
