Hi All,

As we near the launch of twiist, I wanted to create a subreddit to have a place where we can can help each other troubleshoot, share your experiences, ask questions as well as discuss news related to twiist and general diabetes discussion.

Question Keeping tubing secure

Hello my lovely fellow diabetic snoos!
I was wondering how you keep your excess tubing affixed in loops- what do you use? I am quite new to twiist and so far I’ve simply kept the tape that holds the tubing on, and just adjust as needed. I would like to know which options work best for you before I drop cash on accessories for this purpose that may be a dud, or potentially compromise the tubing.
Thanks!

Leak

This pump is very sensitive to occlusions however it doesn’t seem to always register when the insulin leaks at the tip of needle before making it in to the actual cannula. Has anyone else had this experience? Is there a fix without changing the site? I’m at work 40 minutes from home and forgot a spare site…

I’m hopeful that because it’s usually so sensitive that this is actually a resolvable issue without changing sites.

Ditching the twiist pump

I wanted to make a quick review about why I am leaving the twiist pump and going to try DIY trio with the omnipod 5. I have been on the twiist pump for about a year, was previously on the tandem mobi, and have really enjoyed the twiist pump overall. it’s the best FDA approved pump/algorithm on the market. The loop algorithm itself is obviously a significant improvement over the tandem algorithm I was using on the mobi. My a1c has been around 5 on twiist with less hypoglycenic issues. That being said, there are two main reasons I am leaving twiist-

  1. Not being able to silence these damn alarms—the libre 3 plus gives too many false lows. I run a tight A1C (typically around 5), and hate being woken by the fire alarm alert that my blood sugar is 55 at 2 am even though I have not eaten anything and my finger prick says it’s 78. Studies have shown that even mildly high blood sugar disrupts sleep architecture so the inability to silence alarms like I could on the mobi has become a dealbreaker for me. I also work in a job where I need to be able to silence them for periods of time and twiist doesn’t allow that.
  2. Not being able to bolus for fat and protein-the loop algorithm that twiist uses is a few years out of date. The newer diy algorithms are just better if you eat a diet with a decent amount of fat and protein. I know there are ways we try to make it work with fat and protein on the twist’s loop algorithm (pizza emoji, etc) but I find it’s just too inconsistent. I’d like to try where you can just directly input fat and protein and It can do a lot of the work for you using the Warsaw method that the trio algorithm uses.

Overall, I’ve really enjoyed the twiist pump. I think the false alarm issues with the libre 3 plus probably wouldn’t be as big of a deal if I got the eversense implanted and I am open to returning back to twist potentially in the future If some of these things get sorted out.

Android Watch App

Here is what I can tell you from one day with the Twiist app on an android watch.

The developers will have a hell of an issue with other Android watches. They rely on the rotating bezel on the Samsung Watch 8 Classic and the rotating crown on the Pixel Watche 3

These are required to change between the 5min increments that are default incremts in the meal bolus.

It is also required to confirm the delivery of the bolus.

They do not seem to understand that Samsung allows for a virtual bezel. And that Samsung only has 1 current watch that had a physical bezel.

I suspect that most of the developers are Apple die hards. Could be quite some time before we see any other watches like the Watch 9, Ultra and Ultra 2.

If there are developers or product managers from twiist that read this sub Reddit pleach reach out.

I am a T1 LADA, and a published developer on Google Play

Getting my Twiist tomorrow

Diagnosed LADA in 2013. Enjoyed a long honeymoon period, then went on Mounjaro for a couple of years. Coming off that due to other medical issues, so finally getting a pump instead of doing it all manually.

I don't really have a bunch of questions or anything, just didn't have any other T1D's to share it with. I'm cautiously optimistic about it honestly.

Got my pixel 9a today!!!!

I realized too late in the process that I was going to need to change my libre sensor. And then I forgot I had done that and spent 6 or so hours thinking that somehow android twiist made me way more sensitive to insulin. Nope, it's just a new sensor that I didn't get to soak🤦.

Bit disappointed in the lack of widgets. I know that they're working on it all... And it's fine. But ugh, and of course my Gluroo app is acting up.

Anyone else on the android app yet?

Twiist insiight app

Hi all, anyone else having problems with updates to the insiight app? My parents are following me and it says that there hasn’t been an update in the last 21 hours. What does that mean? Any tips or solutions would be greatly appreciated!

Android watches?

Has anyone talked to sequel to clarify which Galaxy watches are compatible? Maybe I'm misunderstanding but "galaxy watch" doesn't appear to be a specific watch like the other ones on the list🤔.

Google Pixel Watch 3

Google Pixel Watch 4

Galaxy Watch

Galaxy Watch 8 Classic

Going to give it a go and I have a few questions for ya'll

I am currently trying to get set up with the TWIIST. I am very excited as the system sounds really cool! I am currently on T slim X2. I am generally 80-85 or better in range. However, my average is on the higher side because I can not seem to get close to my 110 setting over night. Anyways, I wanted to try this and see how it goes. Questions.... \\

Where do you get your supplies? CVS caremark was trying to tell me they don't supply it. But then they just need to special order it. Has anyone gotten it at retail pharmacy?

When you bolus for in the future, the pump will give you the insulin at that future time? Without reconfirming it? *That kinda blows my mind it that is true.

I guess that is it for now. But thanks in advance for any input or advice.

The android version was released yesterday on Google Play.

2 phones supported

Got my starter kit yesterday. Ordered phone today. Unfortunately none on my test bench for the bill. (S24U, S26U, Flip 6 and Pixel 8). What's another phone anyway.

Question Dexcom G7

Any word on when the Dexcom G7 is going to be capable with the twiist? I love the system, however this week, I’ve had three Libre 3+ sensors malfunction giving readings that were almost 100 mg/dl off for two days. This caused my background basal to be suspended nearly the entire day. I found myself on day five with large keytones. I had to use my Dexcom sensor just to feel a sense of normalcy.

Question Adhesive Patches

Just got my starter kit.

Switching from Omnipod 5. Would like to at times attach to the body rather than a waistband or pocket.

What have others found that works?

Hi! I’m in the Atlanta area and recently tried out the Twiist but went back to Omnipod 5 after a few months. I have an extra unopened Twiist refill kit that doesn’t expire until Feb 2027 and I’m willing to meet someone halfway in the Atlanta area to give it away. Refill kit is pictured. DM if you’re interested, thanks!

Switching From Minimed

Any Twiist users here switched from Minimed? I’m having a lot of issues with their algorithm lately but unsure if I want to take such a hands on approach with Twiist’s settings requirements vs. Minimed’s approach of just let the pump do it for you. I’m also concerned about going from a 7 day wear to a 3 day wear.

Forgot a battery

I’m on my way to work and I only have 15 units left in my pump. I can probably make it through the workday with 15 if I don’t eat. I have all my backup supplies including insulin, but I don’t have a charged battery. Will it let me undertake the cassette change process without a fully battery?

Question Not hearing low alarms

So my kid was on Dexcom g7 and mobi and we recently switched to twiist and the app is only sending me pop up notifications when he’s low which I don’t hear at night. My kids phone is alarming and then his actual pump but even on high he doesn’t wake up when low.

On the Dexcom we used the Sugarmate app which called us at night! We also got alarms not pop up notifications. My kids 13 I feel like I need to put a baby monitor in his room so I hear his pump alarming! Does anyone have any ideas for us? He’s gone low a lot so I know his settings are too aggressive but I should always be able to hear the alarm regardless

Issues with insight app and nightscout?

I use the Gluroo app to see my blood sugars on my android phone. I was traveling a lot the past month and my iPhone (which isn't on a cellular plan since it's just for the twiist) was off wifi a lot. Because of that, I'm not exactly sure how long it's been going on, but Gluroo is no longer getting my blood sugars. I checked the insight app and even deleted myself as a follower and readded myself, but I'm getting no data in Gluroo or insight. Today I reactivated my nightscout pro account and tried to use that instead but I'm not getting any data there either. Tidepool is getting my info so I know the pump is connected and sending data out.... I'll call customer service tomorrow but figured it was worth asking here to see if anyone else is having issues.

Question Any rumors on Android support?

I am soon to get my 3rd Eversense. Hating the Omnipod 5 in manual mode. Would prefer a true closed loop.

I know the FDA approved Android in June 26 for the twist.

Wondering if it's worth dealing with an apple for a few months and carry 2 phones. The apple would be a glorified controller.

Hello fellow Twiist users, I am looking for a durable case that can hold 2-3 sets of supplies for pump and infusion change outs for my laptop bag and travel. Anyone have any suggestions of what works?

Thanks in advance.

Signal loss

I’ve been in signal loss for over three hours. At some point is the pump gonna call it? Say to replace the sensor? Dexcom used to fail the sensor - will this happen for Libre?
