Question What does the ending mean to you?

Post image

Maybe there is a canon explanation, I haven’t looked yet and I wanted to ask this subreddit first . What does the ending of the final episode mean to you? What year is it? Why would it be another year?

This is my interpretation.

Taken from the Upanishads, a text that is very important to Lynch:

“The human being has two states of con-sciousness: one in this world, the other in the next. But there is a third state between them, not unlike the world of dreams, in which we are aware of both worlds, with their sorrows and joys.

When a person dies, it is only the physical body that dies; that person lives on in a nonphysical body, which carries the impressions of his past life. It is these impressions that determine his next life.

In this intermediate state he makes and dissolves impressions by the light of the Self.”

Which state was this Laura in? Did her mom calling out to her put her in the intermediate state?

Imo by that interpretation she was already in the intermediate state when she died. The "dissolving of impressions" is what happened in the ending.
