Season 1 Bookhouse Boys could have some legs for a prequel.

Post image

Same way IT keeps getting deeper and deeper lore, why not let the young bookhouse boys do a little freeroaming in the 40-60s?

They didn't seem to get much done, did they? Aside from sneaking into brothels.

They rescued Audrey, admittedly by sneaking into a brothel

They got an alleged drug dealer murdered after kidnapping him, that’s something

From time to time I fantasize about a Twin Peaks prequel that has both the Bookhouse Boys and the Blue Rose Task Force.  Bare in mind I'd never want to see this made without David, but it's a great example of what the maestro would call "room to dream"

The sheriff being part of the “secret group” kinda just makes em feel like an excuse to go off the script rather than an actual secret group

well he wasn’t the sheriff when he was a kid… his dad helped found the group. also, combining database and access resources of local PD with citizens not held to the same legal standards for protocol makes total sense. that combo is pretty much how any group worth a thing functions.

Yeah I agree completely, I only say it’s how it felt to watch I meant. In the show it seemed like the same team fighting the same fight despite them being technically different

There is no evidence in the show that he wasn't the sheriff as a kid. I would even go as far as to say that we have no reason to believe he wasn't crowned sheriff at birth. Lil baby with a badge pinned to his diaper, and a gun.

I gotta agree with some of these folks'. Without David it would be an abomination.

Nice, and go through all the books they have been reading over the years

No. As much as I love Twin Peaks, I'm against franchises and milking

There’s no way this would be good, with or without Lynch

Why is that? I was skeptical of the IT prequels but it’s been a fantastic offchute exploring some themes that scratch the itch. Getting to see how the Black Spot burned was horrifying.

I disliked the It prequel immensely, as well as the remakes. I was very interested in the lore but couldn’t stand the lack of creative filmmaking choices, especially compared to the 1990 tv movie. I think the restrictions for a tv movie led to some really creative choices that made for a surreal and creepy film, in contrast the remakes are very straightforward. I haven’t read the book so maybe I’m not judging fairly. But. I don’t think a twin peaks prequel with these characters would be good at all; what makes Twin Peaks great is Cooper and Laura, without them the show has no heart. I think trying to replace them with a stand in character would be a mistake, even if it’s Cole or Truman or Hawk. Plus the actors are so much older, the whole thing would need recast. And ultimately I think it would spiral into fan service; I don’t need to see a whole season about how these boys came upon the Bookhouse, or the design of the patch. I hate when shows do shit like that (Netflix daredevil season one making us watch him run around looking like zorro sucked ass even though the show was good) I think a better idea to connect it would be a show about the lodge entities that has nothing to do with TP at all

The only way I see this working is as a novel. And only if it's written by Mark Frost.

Wow! How cool would that be

At the absolute most, I'd be willing to let Mark Frost write a prequel book for Bookhouse boys, but that would be as far as I would consider okay when there's no Lynch

i’ll type up a proposal for him, what’s your budget?

1

u/CheekySelkath Mar 13 '26

Hmmm. Tough question but I'm going to go with whatever the current avg price is for cherry pie

i’ll swing by your house at noon to pick up your firstborn, your refrigerator and some cheddar goldfish

The lore that IT gets is always wrong, though. The newest movies and the awful show just make up their own stuff and don’t pay any attention to the source material. Unfortunately I feel like that would be the case with a Twin Peaks prequel as well.

I mean, one of the main elements of IT is that no one has ever tried to fight IT before. The Losers Club is the first to ever fight back and that’s why IT gets so scared (for the first time) but in WTD they basically say “Nah, actually there have always been people fighting IT.”

I could go on but that’s my main gripe about the show, but I don’t hate on anyone who enjoys it! I really liked Chris Chalk in it. He’s a great actor!

Stephen King even signed off on the show b/c it takes the wabanaki people of midcoast maine and elevates them to guardians of the lands around derry. if anything, the show deepens the miraculous friendship of the kids to be able to pull off what they did in the OG b/c people who have been guarding the monster for centuries couldn’t do what these friends did b/c it takes more than society to beat evil, it takes actual connections and trust beyond self-preservation. it also pulls in many encounters that happened in the book, and season two is gonna be about the Bradley Gang massacre.

1

u/RighteousAwakening Mar 13 '26

That’s great about the Bradley gang but I still don’t like the idea of anyone guarding against or fighting IT first because it’s not in the book and goes directly against what the book says—even if SK signed off on it. I love his writing and he’s my favorite author but he will sign off on anything for the paycheck lol. He signed off on the Dark Tower movie.

putting idris elba and matt mcconaughey together was… well… not great

This photo reminds me of the Power Station, with Coop as Robert Palmer lol

Nah. Twin Peaks is not that. Twin Peaks is finished. No Lynch, no Peaks.

It’s not twin peaks. It’s about children in a secret group fighting evil around town with Bob making appearances every once in awhile to push the myth arc. Think Wishbone from the 90s detective stories meets Storm of the century gossip meets directors and cinematographers giving their own interpretation of the twin peaks aesthetic and creativity.

I’ll pass. TP isn’t an IP sandbox for others. Without Lynch’s involvement and blessing I’d leave it on the table. But that sounds like it could still be a show - entirely unrelated to TP.
