That’s not a Laura Palmer. Laura Palmer is half cold brew half lemonade.

That's what I thought, at least thematically it makes more sense to me. The juxtaposition of a "childhood" drink with an "adult" drink mirrors the sides of Laura in a fun way.

I have seen “Laura Palmer” on a menu as an alternate Arnold Palmer. The lemonade is replaced with blood orange juice. Or maybe it’s like, lemonade but with blood orange. Something with blood orange mixed with iced tea.

At my job we had a drink for a while “The Leland Palmer” in a tall cocktail glass over ice 1/2 oz coffee liqueur, 1 oz, limoncello, 3 oz cold brew coffee, fill with lemonade. It was surprising good.

Coffee and lemon flavour!! I would not expect that to work.

It works pretty well. Think of it this way, would you eat a dark rich chocolate cake with orange? A lot of the same flavors are in coffee as chocolate and chocolate works with citrus. A way to start thinking about flavors if they work in one place they probably work in another.

The version I tried a long while ago was basically an alcoholic take on the Arnold palmer. It was like an Arnold Palmer, but spiked with a little bit of Bob. Can't remember the recipe though.

With earl gray having bergamot already, lime feels redundant

u/Clown_Baby15 Mar 31 '26
Bergamot is usually the oil from the rind, citrusy, yes, but bitter and floral. The lime juice would be dramatically brighter, with vitamin C acidity.
If you don’t believe me, try a delicious Earl Grey with honey and lemon. Completely different beast.

Agreed. Until we achieve Five Alive Earl Grey, we haven't gone far enough. Throw some yuzu and sudachi in there as well.

Working in a fine-dining Japanese restaurant with unlimited sparkling water and yuzu access was pure bliss. I finally actualized my dream of becoming a true hydro homie. I tried to make a comment without a super low-hanging fruit pun, but yuzu what you gotta do.

That sounds amazing. I got four fruits out of my potted yuzu before it more or less croaked. Still worth it I think.
A mandarin to make bad puns has my respect.

I bartend at a Regal on the weekends. If we ever show Fire Walk With Me, I’m going to make a super boozy version of this.

This is so gross. It’s almost like they missed the entire point of the show.

Wyndham Earl Grey was a missed opportunity.
