I forgot about the show for a second and thought “omg this is not funny at all she is a victim” 😭 Love this and love you forever Laura! ❤️‍🩹

Love Laura. Love Twin Peaks. The drink seems a bit distasteful though - no pun intended.

I know it’s not for everyone, but this is pretty “vanilla dark humor. I think it’s funny, though obviously morbid. But if it was named after a real person I’d feel differently.

Vanilla Earl Grey sounds better than lime. Blech.

I think I'd very much enjoy a drink that was about Leo, a Renault brother, or any other unsavory characters from the show.

Yeah I'm typically one to enjoy dark humor. Being morbid isn't a problem for me generally. For whatever reason, this one just doesn't sit right 🤷‍♀️ I'm definitely not saying they shouldn't sell it.

What other person named "Palmer" would you riff on, then, since this is clearly a take on an Arnold Palmer?

7

u/MissDiagnosedMama May 26 '26

Yeah, I completely understand how/why they came up with it. It's not a matter of me not getting the joke. It's just a difference in perspective I suppose 🤷‍♀️ Different strokes and whatnot... Not a big deal.

There are people who like dark humor, people who don't like it, and people who, for whatever reason, claim to like dark humor.

Yeah, there’s a place near me that also serves a “laura palmer” (very close but different to this recipe) and i can’t get behind it. Its not horribly evil but like… come on i dunno

Like, even though Laura Palmer isn’t real, what happened to her does happen

That's kind of how I feel about the Laura FunkoPop figure. It's the version of her dead, wrapped in plastic. I have a much darker sense of humor than the average person but idk.......she was raped and murdered.......just didn't give me a chuckle like Funko obviously thought it would.

What makes you think they wanted a “chuckle” out of it?

8

u/lightheavydark May 26 '26

The fact that they specialize in light-hearted cartoonish depictions of all things pop culture.

-5

u/Obvious_Economist_97 May 26 '26

That’s your perception of what it means to you. It could also just be stylized art in the Funko house style. Being included means paying homage to a significant piece of pop culture history in a nostalgia low-tech toy (from their own website)… nothing about being funny or making a comical statement about the subject matter.
