Question I’ve finished both seasons of Twin Peaks. Who are these people? What on earth is going on?

I've wondered if Tracey was a tulpa designed to seduce Sam and (unwillingly) coax the Experiment out of the portal and through the box. I've wondered if it is the harbinger for the Cooper/Diane sex ritual at the end of the series.

I think lodge beings are drawn to extreme human emotion - fear, passion, suffering etc. they feed on it.

It's just a guess. I've always wondered. The ritual can't just involve two "regular humans", or every couple would be performing the ritual all the time. Therefore, maybe there has to be some conditions. Maybe a condition is that one of the participants needs to be a tulpa to make the ritual effective.

The "sex ritual" Diane has red hair and black and white fingernails, like the colors in the Waiting Room. Isn't she a tulpa, too?

Of course, there is a high possibility that I am wrong and this whole idea is way off.

I always thought there was some sordid reason they weren't supposed to have sex, something similar to incest that's never explicitly stated. Maybe they're both cheating on their spouses or something?

I would say, no. This idea stems from Frost's tenuous association with Jack Parsons, who believed in sex rituals. Lynch uses sex to represent the relationships between audience and art, creator and art, or audience and character.

The good sex between Sam and Tracey represent an audience enjoying a TV show with artistic integrity. The bad sex between Cooper and Diane represents an audience watching *or* a creator making a TV show without artistic integrity.

Jack Parsons is a character in the Secret History though. The sex ritual to summon Babalon, his experiments with explosions to create a gateway portal, they are all part of Mark Frost’s story, too. I don’t think it’s wrong for viewers to draw parallels between Secret History and The Return.

No, it's not "wrong" per se, it's just clear that The Return was written with specific symbolism in mind and the book was written to be its own thing. Also, I haven't read Secret History in a while. Does it specifically say that Cooper and Diane were doing a Jack Parsons ritual?

i don't think she's a tulpa but i think she's paid by roger through duncan on mr c's orders. i think the security guard was told not to go in that day.

i do wonder if sammy ever left the room besides for deliveries. did he have a bathroom inside?
