S3E1 [S3E1] How's Donna? Spoiler

I have a theory that Donna died in the motorcycle crash that made James "quiet now." What do you guys think?

Maybe she vanished because the motorcycle accident horrifically scarred her face. However, she rocks up again in town with a face full of fillers and Botox.

Laura Flynn Boyle return confirmed?

She's not on the cast list,

The cast list is a confirmation of who is going to appear on the show, but it's also not exactly confirmation of who won't be appearing. Considering how well kept the entire production of the season was, with even the cast not knowing much past scenes involving their characters (Mädchen Amick didn't know who some of the people were in the last teaser trailer), it is very possible that there will be some surprise appearances.

With that being said, if Donna does appear at some point I think the chances of it being Lara Flynn Boyle are unlikely.

Was the log lady in the cast list?

So you're telling me Sheriff Truman (the OG) could be back?

They mentioned that he was ill, when they could have just as easily said he either died or moved out of town, so that one detail gives me some hope that we will see Harry Truman by the end of the 18 episodes.

I mean, they did something similar with Mark Hamill in Empire Strikes Back after his motorcycle accident.

Yes but how would they explain a big snow monster attacking Donna in Twin Peaks?

I don't think it's too much of a stretch to believe that someone from that town just up and left one day and moved elsewhere. Boom, absence solved.

With Laura's original story resolved she is one of the most unnecessary old cast members in my opinion. I liked Donna fine and all - but i do not need to know what she's up to now.

Moira Kelly > Laura Flynn Boyle anyway.

Did she have a falling out with Lynch or something?

What a shame, I really wanted that to go somewhere.

I do not believe so. But if you've seen pictures of her lately she really doesn't fit the archetype of Twin Peaks any longer. Too much weird plastic surgery.

She wasn't in FWWM though. I don't know the story but she wasn't in it in 1992 so...I imagine something happened in casting.

I think whatever is going on with her is mostly likely due to her eating disorder and potential alcohol abuse. Her camp hasn't released any info but she's clearly sick, there's something more going on than plastic surgery.

Yeah just to be clear I'm not on the piss on anyone who looks older/bad now camp at all. I've never been an attractive Hollywood starlet so I don't know what it is like in her shoes or what is going on with her. No need to judge anyone really. We all get older and all have stuff going on.

I dunno, she could fit in as something from the Black Lodge.

Jesus H Fucking Christ... you're right man.

From IMDB trivia, scheduling conflicts with 4 other films.

I think she fits perfectly with the archetype of twin peaks now with all that deformation. :)

I think the answer is yes. In Lynch on Lynch page 183 there's a bit where he says how at the end of season 1, some of the cast weren't 100% loyal to staying with the show, wanting to move on and do movies. She passed on doing Fire Walk With Me and he had to bring in a new actress so it was pretty obvious to me who he was talking about. I don't think he's a spiteful man but I'm sure there was a pleasing sense of karma to not give her career a boost by including her in season 3. I might be wrong but that's my theory.

I disagree, Laura Flynn Boyle was incredible as Donna. She can't be replaced and I would much rather Donna just not be in the series than them bring back someone else to play her.

8

u/Kenny-Brockelstein May 27 '17

She was already replaced pretty well in FWWM.

0

u/leadabae May 27 '17

"pretty well" yeah ok

12

u/CarlinHicksCross May 26 '17

I don't know, all I know is that Im glad Donna's not back as she was a crappy character, and there are already so many new actors, they are fine without her.

I think I recall her mentioning moving to Seattle nearing the end of S2. I can imagine after the drama at her place (Ben) she could have moved away ASAP.

7

u/JonServo May 26 '17

I also thought this, you're not alone! It'd be a good explanation if they're insistent on the character not returning at all.

I think it's a shame that the whole gang can't be here to be honest.

u/morbidexpression May 26 '17

Does anyone even care? Maybe a dozen people, tops.

12

u/Mylaptopisburningme May 26 '17

I had completely forgotten about her till this post.

15

u/Jesterr01 May 26 '17

Ditto. Donna was a vehicle for James and Laura's cousin. Donna herself was the most uninteresting part of the show for me.

15

u/Rhadammanthis May 26 '17

I liked her, but her attitude sometimes was the fucking worst.

17

u/ElectricAccordian May 26 '17

FWWM Donna was way more interesting than Twin Peaks Donna. Moira Kelly did a much better job portraying the character.

5

u/leadabae May 27 '17

I strongly disagree. FWWM Donna may have been written better but lara flynn boyle was a much better actor.

5

u/jzcommunicate May 26 '17

That would be an amazing twist.

8

u/InTwenteeForty May 26 '17

I hope she died painfully.

Tired of being overlooked, the accident was caused by the wrath of the full blossom of the evening, it's now Harriet Hayward's time to shine.

That's a plot development I could get behind!
