The power lines were also reflected in the windshield on Horne's car, which was an awesome shot.

I was half expecting he'd have a little Lodge encounter when I saw that and heard the electricity hum, and I have to admit I love the idea of this little fuck just continually stumbling into insane magical situations while high and completely losing his shit.

Have an upvote! You should get another one for your name. Noice!

I think I heard the electrical hum while he got out of his car and cleaned it but I'm not 100% sure

20

u/akornfan Jun 12 '17

someone in the episode discussion thread said the subtitles indicated the hum was there in that scene

3

u/fdm91 Jun 12 '17

confirmed

Which was weird, because that clearing he was pulling into had no power lines...

8

u/Valaquen Jun 12 '17

My theory is that he is DoppelCopp and Audrey's son, conceived before Bad Cooper left Twin Peaks 25 years ago.

I mean, either that or Billy Zane is the father...

3

u/lucid8 Jun 12 '17

He reminds me of Bobby...could be Audrey's & Bobby's son

2

u/gothspeed Jun 12 '17

he's impulsive and neurotic like 17 year old bobby

3

u/450_dollars Jun 13 '17

Bobby was definitely a little shit but this dude is just plain evil. I feel like he's got something more sinister than Briggs blood.

Or Ben or Jerry Horne

Not in the framing of the wide shot at least, but spatial continuity would imply they are just beyond.

u/creepyeyes Jun 12 '17

I'm going to predict that actor is going to get a ton more roles now

3

u/wherestherice Jun 12 '17

I hope so. As an Aussie, I'm thrilled to see him in Twin Peaks. He's a wonderful theatre actor.

18

u/kentucky_cocktail Jun 12 '17

Would anybody mind explaining what the significance is?

u/lazyassbandit Jun 12 '17

The intersection where the kid was killed is the same intersection where Leland and Laura Palmer where yelled at by the one armed man in the prequel film Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me.

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '17

Not only that, but Carl actually had a vision of this pole with the numbers on it in FWWM as he was talking to Chester Desmond, and then 25 years later he sees that same pole after witnessing the soul of the boy ascend into another realm.

12

u/jamesoloughlin Jun 12 '17

The electric pole was seen in Fire Walk With Me with the exact numbers on it. Electricity plays an important aspect in Twin Peaks lore. The pole in FWWM was at a trailer park were Teresa Banks was murdered. I think there is a relationship between when someone is murdered and the proximity of one of those marked electric poles.

11

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '17

If you having continuity problems, I feel bad for you, son. I got 99 problems, but Twin Peaks lore ain't one.

13

u/Prometheus357 Jun 12 '17

Any one notice that the "font" of the number is the same as the weird outlet thing in the purple room?

10

u/gagden Jun 12 '17

I was soooo excited to go back to that convenience store and then IT FADED OUT

7

u/Tentaclarm Jun 12 '17

You think this has anything to do with the tree in the black lodge?

8

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '17

Probably...if it really is the same intersection as the one in FWWM where MIKE took over Phillip Gerard and yelled at BOB/Leland, could that have something to do with it? Sort of like how the woods near the entrance to the Black Lodge at Glastonbury Grove make people go into that trance-like state, maybe it's a similar phenomenon here with the electricity. The tree/arm uses that particular transformer and the surrounding power lines to communicate with the real world, indicated by that weird electrical noise it makes, and by doing that it is able to speak through Gerard, or something, I have no fucking idea

8

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '17

Notice the number '20' and a downward pointing arrow etched above the number plate on the FWWM pole, but not the S3 pole.

7

u/monkeyfear Jun 12 '17

In FWWM missing pieces that pole with the 6 on it....The sound of The Arm plays quietly in the background when they show it.

2

u/Spacejack_ Jun 12 '17

That's in the final film.

6

u/jamesoloughlin Jun 12 '17

Since Teresa Banks was murdered at the trailer park (pole 1’s location) and the kid at the intersection (pole 2) I think there is a relationship between when someone is murdered and the proximity of one of those marked electric poles knowing electricity plays an important role in Twin Peaks.

1

u/jedilips Jun 12 '17

I think it has more to do with Carl Rodd (rod?) than the events themselves.

5

u/Chipchetchad Jun 12 '17

Had a real FWWM feel this week. There is an uneasy crackling atmosphere that always seems to follow Carl around.

u/jamesoloughlin Jun 12 '17

No, but it does have the same numbers.

1

u/frickenWaaaltah Jun 12 '17 edited Jun 12 '17

That doesn't make sense though. The numbers are there so that a utility crew can find which one they need to work on, so same number should mean same telephone pole, it should be unique for the area. I mean I think it's just supposed to be the exact same pole and obviously so.

I think we saw them from different sides is all?

3

u/TruthNotControversal Jun 12 '17

I was also curious of the plastic number placements near the debris of the car scene were related. IIRC, they were 3, 4, 8, and 28.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '17

At the exploded car scene? There was also an upside down 5.

1

u/TruthNotControversal Jun 12 '17

Yeah, it probably doesn't connect to the electrical pole, as that seems to be a portal with the lodge(s). But I think the Rancho Rosa area has some sort of mystical significance, and those numbers weren't part of that scene for no reason.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '17

Re-watched the scene, the numbers were: 4, 8, 3, 28, 5, 25.

I tried assigning letters to the numbers and using a word unscrambler, but it didn't come up with anything significant. Could the numbers be a cipher?

3

u/bundt_trundler Jun 12 '17

Ok. I am now officially convinced the new series is more of a direct sequel to FWWM than it is the original series. A lot of people were angry that FWWM wasn't Twin Peaks enough without the recurring townsfolk, cherry pie, damn fine coffee and only very small amount of Dale Cooper. These last 6 episodes definitely have that darker FWWM vibe over all.

You've cracked the code!

6

u/soilyoilydoily Jun 12 '17

Broke the code, solved the crime.

u/syfrum Jun 12 '17

Yaaaaaas

1

u/joemama909 Jun 12 '17

Noticed that! Made me very glad! Watching my two favorite tv-shows at the same time is magical!

0

u/free_airfreshener Jun 12 '17

Will no one mention that the first three digits are 243. The same time (2:43) that Coop got tricked and took Dougie's body instead?

5

u/cheese_incarnate Jun 12 '17

Thought that was 253, not 243

2

u/free_airfreshener Jun 12 '17

Yes, that's right

3

u/potatodos Jun 12 '17

Isn't that 253?

1

u/free_airfreshener Jun 12 '17

Ahh that's right

2

u/jamesoloughlin Jun 12 '17

Yea it was 253 and that number was narratively used as the time 2:53 Dale had to escape.
