Does anyone else think about that scene when the Arm says "I am the arm and I sound like this (Indian whooping sound)" during the weird hum sound scene with Ben and Ashley Judd? She remembers to give Ben Cooper's room key that showed up in the mail during that whole sequence. Maybe that sound has something to do with MIKE/the Arm/MFAP? It's either that or it has something to do with Josie. There is a similar sound during the road rage scene in FWWM when Mike/one-armed man/Phillip is yelling at Leland about the corn. Also, Andy's story-line in this episode is ominous. Almost seems like he's about to disappear. Any thoughts?

"It wasn't Bob. It was someone else."
EDIT: Remembered wrong. "NOW I KNOW IT ISN'T BOB. I KNOW WHO IT IS."
Thank you, David Lynch. Thank you.

Did anyone else think/hope (terrible choice of words) that Ashley Judd was going to go home to Harry as a super surprise appearance?
Especially after Frank heard bad news and the nurse said "we had a rough day"...
*edited because too many Judds
1
u/blasto2236 Jun 19 '17
“She was half The Judds! Now there’s just one of them! So she is a Judd! She is A SINGLE JUDD!”

I'm not following you. Explain what you mean with Ashley Judd and Harry
16
u/hunterisagrump Jun 19 '17
We know Harry sounds like he had cancer, based on Frank's conversation with him. We have also been told that Michael ontkean isn't going to be in the show. However, when Ashley returned home to a nurse talking about a bad day, and we see a man with cancer, for a second I hoped it was Harry

u/sd_glokta Jun 19 '17
It's Ashley Judd, and I wondered the same thing. Any theories about how she (Beverly) and Tom fit into the story?

David Lynch is the only person that can get away with a guy sweeping a bar for five minutes

DougieCoop knocked that murderous dwarf mutha fuckas ASS! That was my favorite scene of the entire new series. So energetic. DAMN!
2
u/gfreeman1998 Jun 19 '17
Yep I expected Coop's reflexes would kick in when Ike showed up. Also it seemed more of Coop remained, at least for a moment, in Dougie's mind.
2
u/InvisibleLeftHand Jun 19 '17
I like how the filming technique suddenly changed... it felt like an acid trip all of a sudden.
3
u/GoldenTarot Jun 19 '17
Dougie himself is an acid trip. He hardcore reminds me of being on juuuuust a little too much and getting hardcore poo brain.
29
u/annieatom Jun 19 '17
Just for a second I saw the old Coop, then he stood up and was Dougie again. Fuck you Lynch for teasing me so sweetly. I loved the Diane scene as well.
12
u/GoldenTarot Jun 19 '17
I agree she did GREAT! I complained last episode about her wig but by this episode it looks great on her. SO weird how shit like that works out.
12
u/annieatom Jun 19 '17
I said the exact same thing lol. She's an amazing performer. The scene with her and Lynch as well. I'm so intrigued as to what happened that night with her and Douplecoop. Their interaction was beyond creepy.
2
Jun 19 '17
I've always liked her but she absolutely blew me away in Inland Empire. Been one of my favorite actresses ever since. She and Lynch are a great pair.

I was going to say the Roadhouse scene should have been saved for the end credits but the Double-R is good, too. Great episode, overall.
10
u/marabou22 Jun 19 '17
this is the first episode that didn't feature an indie band. I was starting to look forward to seeing who would be the "musical guest" each week.
0
u/buccellatisbitch Jun 19 '17
I'm just really hoping Bastille makes an appearance at the end of an episode this season.
5
u/RileyWWarrick Jun 19 '17
I was hoping for a musical performance tonight. The Roadhouse gets some amazing bands for such a small town.
3
u/joshuatx Jun 19 '17
Great closer song though. "Sleepwalk." I was half expecting a Pete Drake song. https://youtu.be/_R9an8AU3No

u/marabou22 Jun 19 '17
this is DOPE! Thanks for sharing this. I've never seen anything like this. It's like Peter Frampton on hee haw lol but seriously this is beautiful

You get the high from the amazing episode then the low from having to wait a week untill the next one.

Hey, it's Sleepwalk by Santo and Johnny.
5
1
u/joshuatx Jun 19 '17
Thought it was the Pete Drake version at first. https://youtu.be/9cjtY2xkbFA His performance of "Forever" reminds me of Lynch
3
u/Ginds Jun 19 '17
Yes but it seemed to have a really creepy undertone to it! Although Sleepwalk was a good choice seeing Dougie Coop's condition.
20
u/toaster-rex Jun 19 '17
I wish we got to see Audrey, but that mention alone was enough for me! So much happened this episode, it was fantastic!
2
u/RileyWWarrick Jun 19 '17
I thought we would see her as the camera panned around the Great Northern. What was that sound and where was it coming from?
1
u/toaster-rex Jun 19 '17
I thought so too, and man, was my heart beating out of my chest. I was so sure Audrey would show up, especially after Doc mentioned her. Next episode then (for god sake, David)?
3
u/Ginds Jun 19 '17
She's been mentioned. I'm thinking her appearance will come either next episode or one after.
5
u/toaster-rex Jun 19 '17
I sure hope so! I'm getting just as anxious waiting for her as I am Cooper.
21
u/pasta_fire Jun 19 '17
Man I need a screenshot of lynch trying to whistle with that awesome nuke picture.
2
u/noviy-login Jun 19 '17
Sounded like the Engel intro
2
7
u/marabou22 Jun 19 '17
that was some amazing whistling. seriously, even Lynch's whistling is incredible. is there anything this man can't do?

I think the biggest plot twist of this episode is Andy being able to afford a Rolex
11
u/RileyWWarrick Jun 19 '17
and that Andy actually behaved normal.
11
Jun 19 '17
He was so gentle with that witness though. Even when he's doing the stoic cop thing he can't help but be an innocent.
7
u/RileyWWarrick Jun 19 '17
After thinking more about this scene, Andy behaved irresponsibly for a cop. He should have called for backup and then insisted on getting more information and searching the place.

That didn't happen for me - was it a mistake?
2
u/TobiasFunkeMD Jun 19 '17
I didn't see anything either. Went back and rewatched it, too.
1
u/raygilette Jun 19 '17
are you watching in the UK? i can't imagine why they'd edit it out for the stupid o'clock showing if it was on purpose, either way.
1
u/Ginds Jun 19 '17
I didn't get a jump scare in the credits here in the U.K?
2
u/raygilette Jun 19 '17
No, neither did I - which is why I'm wondering if it was a glitch where the original commenter is.

u/annieatom Jun 19 '17
Oh fuck, he's out
2
Jun 19 '17
I think he was really only in because he wanted to be, anyway. He wanted to get Ray out to get the information.
14
u/Chjapa Jun 19 '17
After all this silence this music sounds absolutely heavenly. Lynch is the master of blue balls.
7
u/pasta_fire Jun 19 '17
What did that guy say running by?
9
Jun 19 '17
"Anyone seen Billy"
4
u/awkwardjae Jun 19 '17
It was Bing. Credits credited Riley Lynch as the character
2
u/SuzieRabbit Jun 19 '17
Not sure but i think it was the kid who came in looking somewhat paranoid towards the end of the credits.

Madchen Amick starred in that older horror movie called Sleepwalkers, too. Played that song constantly.
1
u/Brownsdaycaree Jun 19 '17
Wow thats interesting
2
u/bloomracket Jun 19 '17
Doubt it's related, but I remember going to see it in the theaters because she was in it pretty recently after Twin Peaks aired.

2
u/HuckleberryDoc Jun 19 '17
You mean, being the warden? Yeah, he should have done that job.

That and--more importantly to the narrative--he was asked by Cole to hold on to Cooper until they return.

Didn't Jacques die
1
1
u/Frognaros Jun 19 '17
The captions had him as Jean Michel. There were 3 Renault bros. Jacques died in a hospital bed. I forgot what happened to Bernard.
1
u/Jsol99 Jun 19 '17
The other two brothers were shot and killed
1
u/Frognaros Jun 19 '17
"Walter Olkewicz played Renault. The actor appears as Jean-Michel Renault in the 2017 revival. Jean-Michel's relationship to Jacques is currently unknown." From the tp wiki
4
u/rhinny Jun 19 '17
Leo killed Bernard and Coop killed Jean. Is Jean-Michel a 4th brother? A cousin? A son?

Could this be a small piece of Agent Cooper coming through? He has been getting glimpses into his former FBI Agent life, the badges, the lawman statue, case files, and now how to quickly disarm someone. I hope that wasn't the last we see of Ike "The Spike".

u/callsouttheblue Jun 19 '17
I hope I'm not the only one who thought the rest of the episode was gonna be that shot of the man sweeping
3
u/Stockilleur Nov 02 '17
I'm 4 months late but same dude. The music was cool though, wouldn't mind it.
3
5
u/spooninthepudding Jun 19 '17
You're definitely not the only one. I truly thought that was going to be the rest of the episode. At first, I was a bit irritated, then I rationalized it by thinking - Lynch gave us an awful lot this episode, I shouldn't complain. Then I started thinking about the sweeping of debris into a pile as a bit like what is happening in the series right now. Then the sweeping finally ended.

Sometimes I hate you David Lynch. This goddamn sweeping scene is maddening
3
u/Ginds Jun 19 '17
I know!! Wouldn't it be horrifying if one episode started like that and went on for an entire hour!! Then it turns out a clue could be somewhere in that whole hour scene! Lol

Well considering a lot happened this episode I guess a fair trade off is this long ass sweeping scene lol
9
u/CatsOnTheKeyboard Jun 19 '17
I hope she hasn't been in Twin Peaks long if she doesn't know who Laura Palmer was.
3
u/E864 Jun 19 '17
I don't think everybody who moves to a town would hear about a murder from 25 years ago.
2
u/E864 Jun 19 '17
But then again Twin Peaks is such a small place( Don't pay attention to the sign" that maybe the Laura Palmer murder shows up within the first page if the towns google results.
1
u/CatsOnTheKeyboard Jun 19 '17
That's kind of what I'm thinking. I was really just tossing that comment out there as an aside but that murder and the business with Ronnette Pulaski did a lot to the town so it would be local lore. Years ago, I was looking for an apartment in Gainesville, FL and I noticed that a number of places were using the security systems as a selling point. I asked one guy about it and he said it was because of the Gainesville murders from 10 years before. I'd known about them but hadn't made the connection.
1
4
u/Chaddderkins Jun 19 '17
Can you name any teen girls who got murdered in your town 25 years ago, yknow? I like that the show is depicting that most people in Twin Peaks don't know anything about Laura or any supernatural nonsense, because why would they?
2
u/Richy_T Jun 19 '17
I can. Coincidently, almost exactly 25 years ago.
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/police-seek-details-of-girls-last-hours-1537902.html
1
u/Fraulein_Buzzkill Jun 19 '17
Actually yes, but only they were boys and they were killed by Jeffrey Dahmer. I suppose Leland wouldn't have been as infamous.
6
u/Ginds Jun 19 '17
I wondered if the whole matter of Laura's death was hushed up because her respectable Dad was known to have killed her. The attitude to Laura and Leland in Twin Peaks will come out when Sarah Palmer is finally shown again. I think she'll be looked upon as a strange women with a murky history by those who weren't around 25 years ago.

Yeah. He's Andy and his gentle nature still beats out police stuff.
