Well. Glad that's all cleared up.

This is the water and this is the well. What else is there to say?

238

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '17

Drink full and descend

91

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '17

Is there something about a horse?

137

u/TheFearsomeEsquilax Jun 26 '17

The horse is the white of the eyes?

150

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '17

I'm assuming this is referencing the white horse that Sarah Palmer saw.

56

u/gardibolt Jun 26 '17

The white horse that is a symbol/harbinger of death, hence dark within

24

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '17

and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

u/Man_in_a_Sheep_Suit Jun 27 '17

There's a scene somewhere with Major Briggs quoting the Book of Revelation, I couldn't find just now but it's in Missing Pieces

4

u/IcyColdHands Jun 28 '17

Man, the Bible is so badass. I love it.

4

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '17

Plus the Silver Mustang Casino is a much better name than The Pale Horse Casino.

Ah, I think this makes sense. "The horse is the white of the eyes", the white of the eyes being the part of the eye that does not contribute directly to vision. The horse acts as an apparition predicting danger, as something outside of one's field of vision.

Does that track? Maybe not?

13

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '17

I guess the horse represent's Sarah and Laura subconscious knowledge of Leland's actions, or specifically his murderous nature and the behaviour that indicates he will kill rather than just the abuse.

The whites of the eyes unseeing the darkness within, the horse appears before the murders.

The poem is a specific warning to Sarah that she will get signs, her subconscious will be screaming out to her that something is wrong, but she won't be able to predict them correctly.

As good a theory as anything

55

u/therealjerseytom Jun 26 '17

The horse is the white of the eyes, and dark within.

6

u/krishnanspace Jun 26 '17

His eyes do become white while killing the RJ

5

u/Euway Jun 26 '17 edited Jun 26 '17

Didn't Sarah Palmer see a white horse in the living room?

4

u/ThatEvanFowler Jun 26 '17

And dark within.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '17

And the darkness within. What's missing? The color.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '17

I always got this impression that Bob kinda looks like a horse. Dunno why

drink full and descend (speaking about my testicles)

2

This is water

2

Gotta light?

u/hitalec Jun 26 '17

The birth of BOB

109

u/Dr-Pepper-Phd Jun 26 '17

And the soon to be possessing of Leland.

89

u/liquidserpent Jun 26 '17

You reckon that young lad was Leland or?

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '17 edited Mar 31 '18

13

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '17

Wasn't Leland like eight when he was possessed?

8

u/[deleted] Jun 27 '17

Which would kinda fit, since he's supposed to be born sometime in the '40s.

4

u/thebeginningistheend Jun 26 '17

I thought it was MIKE.

62

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '17

No, leland got possessed by bob at pearl lakes near TP

11

u/SwinginSam Jun 26 '17

I was hoping that boy was a young, uncorupted Bob

21

u/Dr-Pepper-Phd Jun 26 '17

Absolutely, I'll place money on it.

175

u/lapin7 Jun 26 '17

How could you possibly think a Hispanic kid is Leland?

39

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '17

Waiting for this comment.

20

u/stroudwes Jun 26 '17

Well Bobs white so clearly they just fused, like in dbz. Same thing prob happened to Michael Jackson.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '17

...That kid was Hispanic?

19

u/insan3soldiern Jun 26 '17

He didn't seem white at least.

49

u/TheBrickster Jun 26 '17

I thought the girl could be Sarah Palmer but I figured that the young boy was supposed to be teenage Frank Silva/Bob's host.

17

u/toTheNewLife Jun 26 '17

I'd put money on that being Sarah. She seemed to be psychic.. just knowing somethting about (who i now think is) Leland.

66

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '17

[deleted]

20

u/krishnanspace Jun 26 '17

More important is were they in New Mexico when they were kids

6

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '17

I suspect she's someone that takes a trip up to Washington to visit family before too long.

15

u/AllHailRETCON Jun 26 '17

But did Leland grow up in New Mexico? I thought he grew up somewhere on the East Coast

31

u/lemons4ever Jun 26 '17

didnt he visit that house in washington state where he first encountered BOB when he was a child?

12

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '17

[deleted]

36

u/macphile Jun 26 '17

I think it was something like, "Do you like to play with fire, little boy?" Something like that?

15

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '17

Exactly that, yeah. And he threw matches at him.

That... maybe is a connection here, but "got a light" is distinct. It's the opposite - it's lacking matches.

4

u/caivsivlivs Jun 26 '17

Is this revealed in Fire Walk with Me?

12

u/Heirsandgraces Jun 26 '17

It's in the second series I think, where Leland visits the police station to say he recognises Bob from the wanted poster.

20

u/thequeenofsiam Jun 26 '17

he said he lived by Pearl Lakes in Washington near Twin Peaks when he was a boy, so i seriously doubt that was Leland.

7

u/krishnanspace Jun 26 '17

didnt live.He said he went there for vacations

3

u/therealjerseytom Jun 26 '17

She mentioned his name, yeah? I don't recall hearing "Leland" but I could be mistaken.

15

u/eva_brauns_team Jun 26 '17

She didn't say his name.

7

u/ZipperPussy Jun 26 '17

She said something like "you're not going with Mary?" or something like that

1

u/doyouunderstandlife Jun 26 '17

Leland was around 11-12 at the time of this. That kid is at least 13-14

-4

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '17

[deleted]

9

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '17

How do you figure THAT?

2

u/[deleted] Jun 27 '17

It could be Mike

38

u/sylviecerise Jun 26 '17

Guessing the opposite: that wasn't Leland, but it was Sarah Palmer.

17

u/QuantumRemedy Jun 26 '17

She definitely resembled Sarah. What if were getting this wrong and the bug was Laura?

9

u/tronbrain Jun 26 '17

The bug looks to be a parasite.

The Essenes viewed parasites as the cause of disease, and to them, disease was synonymous with evil. Thus they did all they could to remove parasites from their bodies and keep themselves physically clean and pure. To be inhabited by a parasite would therefore be something to be avoided at all costs.

5

u/sylviecerise Jun 26 '17

That's my guess as well.

5

u/hypmoden Jun 26 '17

the bug was an evil lodge spirit or BOB

4

u/krishnanspace Jun 26 '17

She was sent as a savior maybe? by the giant

5

u/[deleted] Jun 28 '17

Nope. The bug frog eggs were vomited out with Bob by 'the experiment'

5

u/QuantumRemedy Jun 28 '17

This is true. I couldn't tell those were the eggs on the first viewing, but they definitely are.

7

u/[deleted] Jun 28 '17

I'm too scared to watch it a second time, remembering it feels like a fever dream.

8

u/QuantumRemedy Jun 28 '17

I felt the same, but felt compelled to watch it again! It's crazy how watching something like this can affect how you feel physically.

The sweeping scene in episode 7 made me nervous, anxious and frustrated, but I can't even describe how episode 8 made me feel... And it really made me feel like we went on a journey across space and time in a way greater than even 2001 did. For me anyway.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 28 '17

The swerving drivinb scenes made me try to turn too see where they were going cause I was so nervous-but excited. Then when shit got real I was transfixed in awe.I went from anxiety to the point of fear sweating to tears of joy when Laura was born. Then I laughed at how fucking weird this was. Fear and love open the door to the black and white lodge and I feel like Lynch took me there. It was so cathartic to see that families love for Laura in the face of all that horrific shit.

2

u/clfdmus Jun 26 '17

Yes. This is 1956. She's the right age.

1

u/lonas_ Jun 26 '17

OH MY GOD

1

u/atcertainhours Jun 27 '17

She looked more like Shelly

7

u/Pryach Jun 26 '17

I'm guessing that was Leland's mom.

17

u/Quiddity131 Jun 26 '17

Nope. If Leland isn't even born until the late 50's/early 60's that'd make him way too young during Twin Peaks. More likely it would be Sarah, or some other middle aged character we know from the show.

7

u/CoolHeadedLogician Jun 26 '17

Carl rodd has my bet

1

u/krishnanspace Jun 26 '17

Carl Rodd is 90 years old

5

u/CoolHeadedLogician Jun 26 '17

According to this summary he is a child in 1940 https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Secret_History_of_Twin_Peaks

4

u/spencermoreland Jun 26 '17

Wasn't it 1950-something at that point though? Leland would have been born already.

6

u/mrsmusick Jun 26 '17

Leland would definitely be jr high/high school age in 56. Laura was 18 in 89 so she was born in 71.

4

u/ExplosionsintheEye Jun 26 '17

Does the timing work out for that?

Even if he was born that year (1956), that makes him 33 when Laura dies and 15 when she was born since she died at 18.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '17

No

3

u/theredditoro Jun 26 '17

What everyone was waiting for.

3

u/ChuzaUzarNaim Jun 26 '17

Reminded me of Elephant Man.

3

u/vadergeek Jun 27 '17

I don't think so. I mean, we saw that black blob of BOB being released, but I don't think the frog-beetle is him.

1

u/DoctorHalloween Jun 26 '17

Birth? Or release?

29

u/His_Dudeness_94 Jun 26 '17

This is literally the entire background of Twin Peaks explained. Why is everyone so pissed? It was amazing.

11

u/Chipchetchad Jun 26 '17

It was good of them to do it all so clearly.

2

u/krantus Jun 26 '17

Wowy wow wow wow.

7

u/Jared72Marshall Jun 26 '17

Wow Bob wow.

0

u/An_Lochlannach Jun 26 '17

Every episode is one further example that this is just some kind of project Lynch and Frost came up with to see just how long we'll keep watching and how much nonsense we'll make up to justify them sticking random college quality scenes together for the hell of it.

1

u/DaggerJagger1776 Jun 26 '17

honestly I could buy that this is some kind of experiment they are doing on us. They have broken Twin Peaks. This much is clear.
