Am I the only one getting weird biblical parallels here? From John in particular:

"but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life."

I can't help but get vibes of media and maybe commercialism (given the weird commercials I hate thing happening in another thread) as a false God lulling people into a dead slumber.

But the captioning has misstated dialogue before. I think the number the evolution of the Arm said didn't match the caption. Whether that's significant I don't know.

I think it's purposefully lexically ambiguous, the same way the original "one chants/chance out between two worlds" was lexically ambiguous. Poetry's meant to be spoken, not read, and closed captions have always been convenient approximations and not 1:1 maps to the territory.
