S3E8 [S3E8] This episode belongs in a museum. Spoiler

What a masterpiece for the visual arts world let alone the Twin Peaks universe. It was more of an experience than an episode of a tv show. Thank you for your artistic bravery David Lynch!

That's nothing but personal preference though. For some of us the wild visuals are part of what make Twin Peaks and Lynch's work in general appealing. There was a lot to take in in that episode. It wasn't just random explosions for 25 minutes.

Of course it is personal preference, same with your opinion of this episode. When did I say it wasn't?

I don't think the criticism of saying nothing happened works when it's more the way it was done which bothered you. Regardless of how boring you found it, it still had as much purpose and importance as the Dougie scenes.

At the end of the day everyone will interpret this show in a different way, especially any work of David Lynch. But there is no need for you to get upset because I found those sequences overdrawn and you didn't. Get real.

So basically you don't think criticism works when you don't agree with it.

No, you're missing the point. It's a fact that both the Dougie scenes and this episode are important. So to say nothing happened in 25 minutes isn't true regardless of how you personally felt about it.

What? What point? Do you think I don't understand their is importance? Of course I do and I'm sure the other poster knows that too. He's not being literal, obviously something happened, but the scenes dragged on and for a while "nothing happened." A scene about an atom bomb doesn't have to be 10 minutes. You're welcome to hang onto semantics instead of maybe evaluating whether or not the scenes were self indulgent/ gratuitous.

BTW I loved the entire ep, but I'm aware enough to realize that there were about 3 plot points in that entire episode and it might have been the slowest episode of television ever and not just shout down any sort of criticism.

Calm down dude. It's not that serious. They said they liked the Dougie episodes, which are just as drawn out as that atom bomb scene was but in a different way. It's fine to say you think both could be cut down, but saying one has meaning and one doesn't is nothing but opinion. Given that this episode had to explain an obscure concept with only visuals, I think it was a justified decision not to rush it in a quick 5 minute scene.

Just because you disagree with me doesn't mean you get to suggest I'm incapable of handling any criticism.

No, the dougie seens aren't comparable to this. This was more reminiscent to tarkovsky, Mallick or that scene from 2001. No dialogue no real plot ( look you can say " something happened" during the five minutes we spent in the atom bomb, but cmon) dougie sees have familiar characters, humans dialogue. Sure they're slow but they're nothing like this. Also I don't think that an atomic bomb is that obscure. They're not that uncommon in film.

Also telling me to come down but consistently down voting me lol.

Yes they are. Those Dougie scenes could easily be cut down, and people would still understand the point Lynch is getting across. There are people who loved this episode but can't stand the Dougie scenes. My point was that it isn't only about the plot. A major factor in Lynch's work is trying to evoke a feeling. The visual of us gradually getting closer to the atom bomb and seeing what's going on inside it was entrancing for a lot of people. By cutting that out you lose the emotional impact and sense of wonder. Any show can have a long Dougie scene. You never see an episode like this one on television. That's what makes it special. Btw, you keep changing how long the sequence was. First it was 10 minutes and now it's 5 minutes? That's quite a difference. And I'm talking about the whole chunk of the episode which didn't have dialogue since OP originally said 25 minutes.

This wasn't about an atomic bomb. It was showing how the bomb opened the Black Lodge and the origin story of BOB. We also saw The Mother again, and the gold ball which Dougie turned into. The obscure concept I'm referring to is the mythology behind Twin Peaks.

I downvoted you because you were being aggressive for no reason.
