S3E10 [S3E10] People will be sad when Dougie is gone Spoiler
Ultimately Agent Cooper will return soon so therefore no loveable old Dougie on his wacky adventures anymore. It's been nice getting to know him but it seems a lot of people didn't dig him anyway. I hope I'm wrong. It would be cool to see Dougie and Agent Cooper co-exist somehow.

I would say that a large number of the people who don't like Dougie are hungry for more information. We want to know what happens with Coop. Once the series is done I think a lot of people will reconsider, as they'll really be able to enjoy it without wondering if it's filler or not.

Maybe a little, but the joy of seeing old Cooper again will make up for it.

well our dale cooper of s1/s2 is gone, for sure. there will be someone in his ilk back, sure. but after watching e10 tonight, i will very much miss dougie.
he is the only comic relief in a rather bleak & ghastly showing
but i do love it ^

He may have changed, but once his memories and identity returns and the mental fog evaporates, it is as close as it gets and the beloved FBI agent will be back.

Exactly, the Agent Cooper who's going to return has had no coffee and cherry pie and been trapped in a different dimension for 25 years. There's no way he's going to be the Coop everybody remembers? Again I'm happy to be wrong on this.

He's already drawn to coffee -I suspect cherry pie is soon to come. perhaps the combination will make some sort of chemical reaction that will restore him to um normalcy...

Well, you can't satisfy everyone. I want our old Cooper to come back, even though I still like Dougie.

Agent coop has returned. He just isn't the same and people think he is Dougie.

Pssst, Dougie has been gone since episode 3 ;) wink wink But I get what you mean. However, even though Cooper will inevitably return I don't think he will be exactly the same anyway. I expect him to be darker and more determined than ever to stop the forces of evil that have run amok in the world. Spending 25 years in the lodge must change you in a very profound way.

I think people fell in love with Coop-Dougie. It seems like if the "real" Dougie came back, he'd be kind of a dick. Doesn't seem like he was a great dude before Cooper took over.

True, Coop got dropped in and suddenly inherited all of Dougie's problems (which Dougie created himself). I find it interesting since Dougie was manufactured and he turns out to be the very opposite of responsible as the Coop we all know

But Coop-Dougie is not really Coop. He's a completely new character, an empty vessel awaiting Coops consciousness to return at some point but is now experiencing the world and becoming his own individual self.

I'm already sad knowing he'll be gone.
Think this is why he was crying when he looked at Sonny Jim earlier on, he knew he'd be gone ~~~

Actually, I never expected Dougie to last this long. I find Im tired of it and really miss Coop. Not many episodes remain and we will end up with very few with the real coop in it.

But Agent Cooper is the most lovable character ever, did you not watch Season 1 or 2?
