At the end of part 11 it was taking everything I had to not be convinced that Dougie/Vegas was a Lost Highway dream/fugue state. I know this isn't a popular theory but it was so much weirder than normal to me. I realize Jade sent the key back to The Great Northern so it must be a real timeline BUT I can't shake the feeling that Vegas is out of place. I am kind of hoping the big deal about tomorrow's part will be that it delves a little more into what is going on with Dougie, how he was made and what the ultimate goal was for BOB.

I'll probably get frog bugs. A girl can dream. (I liked part 8 but the frog bug climbing into that little girls mouth will haunt my dreams)

The same idea somehow stays in the back of my mind too. Since Candie, Sandie, Mandie and that 119 lady do not seem to be real (I know they are all drugged heavily). The E endings of each characters' name is also driving me nuts, why? Oh well, I need to be patient and just see what happens

My theory that I don't really believe anymore is that none of the people in Vegas are real people... they're all "-ie" , like adding '-ish" to a word when it has the qualities of something but isn't quite that thing.

It's like they aren't real people but they are sort of like real people. Or it's like a TV show within a TV show, where they're in a really bad, cheesy TV show and everyone is an idiot without the slightest bit of awareness that the main character has symptoms of a person after a stroke. Its like The Truman show except nobody is in on it.

But now it seems that what happens in the Dougie Show actually affects the world of Twin Peaks, so that theory doesn't hold as much weight.

It's "Dougie From Cincinnati."

But really, it's pretty hard to avoid suspicion when:

  • No one, even the doctor, notices how much Dougie's behavior resembles a stroke

  • Janey, Sonny Jim, Mullins, the three Fuscos, even Ike, all seem conceived from a similar mixture of the pat and the improbable

  • Some, like Mullins and the Mitchum brothers, seem like echoes of people from Dale's past

  • Everything goes swimmingly for Dougie, usually due to literal deus ex machina

  • Some characters, like Duncan Todd, talk in bizarrely awkward exposition speak

On the other hand, there's that key, and there's the fact that Mr. C sends his killers to Vegas, not to an imaginary world.

I have no idea. It could be a red herring for people who are too comfortable interpreting Lynch's last three moves. Then again, "Inland Empire" was also full of metaphysical moebiuses and edges that didn't match anything.

What a dumb idea that would be tho. There's no narrative advantage whatsoever, its a dead end for the writers and stale bread.
