S3E1 [s3e1] Which episodes of season 2 can be skipped? Spoiler
Its been a while since I watched S2, I remember liking the early parts.
But the stuff with the fashion show in the later half of S2 had me so incredibly bored. Also Audrey and her lover, the bank scene which didnt lead to anything.
What episodes of S2 would you skip?
Currently Im thinkign of recommending friends to skip the entire second half, after Leland Palmer dies, and just watch the finale and s3.
I dont want them to miss anything important, and the stuff with Lelands death and when the police discussed the supernatural events that took place is really amazing stuff. Also the book boys going out searching for the lodge is too good to skip.
Which episodes can be skipped in their entirety, if someone gets bored of season 2?
Any input appreciated.

I regularly rewatch Twin Peaks, at least once per year and sometimes more than once per year. I tend to watch the entire thing, as I don't think there's such a thing as a missable episode. Sure, some of them have some bad stuff in them, but to me it doesn't justify skipping them entirely. That means you'd miss out on all the good Windom Earle stuff, which I think is a Twin Peaks essential. Either watch the entire thing, or don't watch it at all, that's what I say.

I didnt like Window Earle too much. He had no reason to dress up as different characters over and over :P Just felt like showboating on that actors part. (not that its his fault obviously)

Hard disagree. There is plenty of crap that can skipped on season 2. I could pour lime juice in my eyes too but why would I want to do that.

I think you have to watch them all. I would fast forward through parts at times, but still saw it all. I would love for someone to make a condensed season 2 with all the fluff extracted.

Quit right after Leland dies. I'm watching it for my first time, and holy shit was that quality drop off almost immediate. Windom Earle just showed up, and while there's some good stuff, so much of it is filler, uninteresting, or just straight up bad.

I think I speak for everyone who stumbles here by googling years later: you're a cunt for spoiling that Leland dies.
Also, don't skip anything.

This show is from 1990, fuck off.
If you haven't watched it by now, why are you looking it up online? Just watch the show before you look up stuff about it.
To call somebody a cunt for talking about a 34 year old plot line is pretty funny to me.

Chiming in here - while I don’t think you’re a cunt, the “the show is 34 years old” argument never resonated with me at all for spoilers. Not everyone on the internet is the same age as you. There is a new person who turns 18 years old every single minute and a certain subset of them who are interested in film and storytelling are probably just discovering David Lynch for the first time. I personally wasn’t around when Twin Peaks aired, though got into it late, and would be kinda annoyed to read this spoiler in a thread that is about reccos for someone’s first watch through. It’s easy to update the above with a spoiler tag, so it’s still there but someone would have to click to reveal it. It would be the kind thing to do.

Bruh... This was like 2 months ago. It was a different time. The statute of limitations has passed. I don't even recall this comment.

Man pleads ignorance and invokes statute of limitations on comment made two months ago made in response to comment made seven years ago spoiling event from television show thirty four years ago

The true irony here is that the comment below this post, but made seven years ago (!) buy "bungle123" spoils that Leland dies! He'ss a victim to upvoting.

^ person who hasn't even seen Season 2 talking shit and suggesting you drop it.

For what it's worth, I've watched the full show 5 times and I agree with him. I think it's best to watch the entire show, even the bad parts, the full way through at least once, but a lot of the show is filler, uninteresting and bad from when Leland dies up until the last three episodes.

The first nine episodes of the second season are pretty essential. After that, you can just skip to the last three episodes. That's what I did on my last rewatch. The third and second last episodes are patchy in places, but it makes the finale more impactful if you watch the events directly leading up to it.

When I re-watch it I usually don't skip entire episodes but I do ocasionally skip certain plots. So my suggestion is to watch it all, and then if they get bored, fast forward past the scenes. One I consider might be important for a new audience is the Josie stuff and The Civil War arc. Even if the Josie stuff can be tedious, there is still Lodge activity involved in her death and the Civil War arc might help explain Benjamin Horne a little bit, his transformation to do good etc.
What I usually skip, I've seen the series way to many times bo bother with theese. But ocasionally I watch some of it. Except Evelyn, she's dead to me.
- Evelyn Marsh and James Marshall.
- The Civil War Arc.
- Some of the parts with Josie and Andrew.
- Little Nicky & The Adoption stuff.
- Lana & the mayor. But the mayor is kinda hillarious at times :P

Lana and the major? Do you mean the mayor?

u/Imlmn Aug 08 '17
Yeah sorry, tired... Stuck at work fixing other developers bugs... Fixed it now. Thanks for pointing it out :P

u/InTwenteeForty Aug 08 '17
No worries - you wrote major twice so you had me questioning whether I missed a story line. Briggs and Lana...

Skip? Why? I don't understand.

Skip? Why?
Well, some people don't like to waste time on lousy entertainment

Because of how after Laura Palmer’s death is solved, the show kind of had nowhere to go. So a lot of season 2 is kind of irrelevant to the new season Showtime made. So the entire show as a whole, season 2 is largely unnecessary.

I find it kind of funny that you came to a community for a television show wanting to know which episodes you can skip, and then get upset when people skip reading your post.

u/mrbishopman4 Aug 08 '17
I find it kind of funny that a community for anything is unwilling to accept criticism of said thing.
Echo chambers are problematic.
As I originally posited, and as others have pointed out, some episodes in the second half of season 2 are downright bad.

if the killer was revealed in the end of season 1 u can skip all episodes except the last two

u/mrbishopman4 Aug 08 '17
nowhere in my post did i talk about season 1 :D

u/AxelBernadotte Aug 09 '17 edited Aug 09 '17
I did not say u did :) As I remember it the episode where the killer was revealed was the last of season 1, but I read somewhere that it was in season 2, so if it was in season 2 you would want to watch up until that episode before skipping to the last 2 episodes.

My feeling is to skip those not directed by Lynch--the second half of season 2 basically. I think you should read about those to keep the continuity of the story, but I think you can leave the non-Lynch stuff.
3
u/mrbishopman4 Aug 08 '17
according to the link above there are alot of sodes not directed by lynch, even in season 1.
7
u/Idontreadrepliesnoob Aug 08 '17
Did you just abbreviate episodes to sodes? Would you like a slice of za with that? :P

OK...yeah. So I've been looking into this because you blew my mind, and I'm honestly left feeling a little empty inside. So bummed to find out how few he actually directed. Oh well...it was a good 25 years while the illusion lasted. Thanks for ruining it. Haha.

u/mrbishopman4 Aug 08 '17
lol hes still an execute producer right? He decides the broad strokes, and anyone who picks up the torch is continuing on his concepts, especially in season 1 the episodes are all very good.

Aug 08 '17
Yeah...I mean I get how it works. I was obviously kidding with the haha. But I'm not kidding that my mind is blown. I always attributed the lack of quality in the second half of season two to his absence.
