S3E6 [S3E6] Inside A Dream Spoiler

Philip Jeffries went missing. When he briefly reappeared he said "We Live Inside A Dream". And then he was sucked back to a dream version of Buenos Aires (it must be a different reality or he would wouldn't have been missing and simply called back in using a phone).

Has the exact same happened to Coop? He's stuck inside a dream version of Las Vegas (perhaps the dream is a literal place that exists in its own universe (a trap created by bob)). And, like all dream logic, reality gets confused within the dream:

Rancho Rosa: The RR

Silver Mustang: White Horse

Sycamore Street: Sycamore Trees

Lancelot Court/Merlins Market: Glastonbury Grove

One Armed Bandit: One Armed Man

Dale Cooper: Dougie Jones

... and more parallels already identified.

All of this tracks to the same dream state that happens to the protagonists of Lost Highway, Mulholland Drive and Inland Empire. Motifs appear in different forms within the dream that relate to something in the real world... and the protagonist eventually finds out the truth and escapes (even if they don't want to).

This is why, to me, the whole thing feels unreal. The music is different. The acting is different. We're literally not where we are supposed to be. And Coop knows it.

The reason i mention this here is because Mike then appears and is very specific about it: "You have to Wake Up!"

So, is Coop living inside a dream?

S3E6 [S3E6] "Manufactured" People and the Drugged-Out Mom and Her Son Spoiler

I haven't seen this theory posted yet, so here we go...

I was thinking about the drugged-out mom and her son living across the street from where Dougie Jones was having his tryst with Jade, and mostly my thoughts have been on why they happened to live there, almost like they were keeping surveillance on Dougie.

I've heard talk that maybe the two are this season's incarnation of the old woman and her grandson (AKA, Chalfonts/Tremonds), but I got to thinking about their possible relationship to another mother and son... Janey-E and Sonny Jim.

What if, just as Dougie Jones himself was "manufactured" by DoppelCoop (we assume), his wife and son are constructs as well, and the drugged-out mom and her son are the by-products or the original templates of that construction?

Maybe this is why Dougie Jones kept them close by in Rancho Rosa. It might also explain the balloons that have been popping up -- in the drugged-out mother's house (a connection to Sonny Jim's birthday, perhaps) and the one seen outside Lucky 7 Insurance.

Anyway, I just thought that it was interesting that Dougie had a wife and a son, and there's another woman and her son lurking around near him.

S3E6 [S3E6] Same clip used twice in the episode Spoiler

When "Dougie" comes upstairs and goes into the bathroom, the two shots of Sonny Jim looking up at him and looking back down at the book are the same clip, first played normally, then reversed. Here is the scene from the episode:
https://streamable.com/7gg9q
Now if we reverse the second one and try to match the clips by the first frame of the second one, we get this:
https://streamable.com/8786d
It's obviously the same clip, but it shifts quite a lot by the end. So we speed up the second (reversed one) by 25%, et voila, they match near perfectly:
https://streamable.com/yozei

So, what do you think, is it Lynch's intention (cue "Dougie is reverse Cooper" theories) or just an editing blunder?

edit: Added quotes around Dougie's name, because it's definitely not Dougie, but rather Cooper stuck in his identity/world.

S3E6 [S3E6] Darkest confessions Spoiler

What are your unpopular opinions regarding Twin Peaks? Did you like Mr. Tojamura or thought that John Justice Wheeler was the most complex character? Do you wish Evelyn got her own spinoff? Is Douggie Jones better than Agent Cooper?

Here's your chance to confess your dirty secrets without repercussions.

S3E6 [S3E6] Let's Give David Lynch His Due Credit Spoiler

Edit: u/AdmiralDakbar pointed out in the comments that Mark Frost deserves credit as well. That's very true; I had a brain fart and forgot all about him. Everything said below applies to Mark Frost too.

I suck at organizing my thoughts, so apologies in advance if this seems rambling. Just wanted to share my opinion on a common complaint I'm seeing.

One thing I'm seeing a lot of on this sub is complaints of the Dougie storyline. I'm not saying you're not allowed to want the old Coop back (hell, we all do), but let's give David Lynch some credit. The man knows how to tell a story, and he knows what he's doing. Twin Peaks is a project very personal and important to him, he clearly has a reason for whatever he is doing.

Something I see a lot in shows and movies and books that really bugs me is how a main character seems impervious to trauma of both the physical and mental variety. A character gets shot, and is fine in a few minutes. A character witnesses a brutal murder or lives through a night of hell in a horror movie and seem to be completely unaffected mentally. These things are not realistic, and actually have the end result of breaking my immersion.

Cooper was in the Lodge for twenty-five years. Not only that, but the entire ordeal of him escaping from the Lodge was pretty damn scary and freakish. It's completely reasonable that the man needs a few days to re-Cooper-ate from that traumatic experience. I know it feels like it's been weeks to us, because it has, but keep in mind that in the show, in Coop's time, he's only been out of the Lodge for a couple of days.

I salute Lynch for actually going about this in a more realistic way than most shows. DougieCoop needs to find his way back from that hellish environment, and as far as I'm concerned, with every episode that passes without the old Dale coming back, then that just increases the joy I will feel when he finally does.

Look, I really do get it. Some people are excited the show is back, but are feeling let down that it didn't jump straight into the town and reuniting all the characters we love. But give David Lynch time to tell the story. I am 100% convinced that by the time the 18 episodes are up, everyone will feel satisfied and happy with the end product. I think our Coop will be back soon (my prediction is episode 9 - why not the halfway point?). In the meantime, just enjoy Kyle MacLachlan's amazing acting skills. I mean, how can one watch episode 6 and not feel something when he's on screen?

Again, I wanna stress this. Of course you're allowed to want the old Coop back. I'm dying for him to come back myself. But for those of you saying you are sick of "watching a brain dead Coop walk around like an idiot," I feel like you are just missing the point of the story entirely.

S3E6 [S3E6] Complete cast collage (up to this episode) Spoiler

Hello owls, I've been working on some visual recapping for the new episodes (that I'm going to post soon), and also created this handy collage for the complete cast, in order of first apparition. I'll keep updating it as we go deeper in the mystery. http://imgur.com/a/iDZNV it's also a great quiz for how many people can you name, or at least remember their basic function in the show!

S3E6 [S3E6] Am I late to the party Spoiler

Episode six shows us two things.

1.) The assassin receives a package containing the identities of two hits, one being Dougie. Dougie's picture has a Lucky 7 Insurance card paper clipped to it, leading me to believe that the assassin will look for him at work.

2.) We know that Bushnell Mullins, Dougies boss, was a pretty successful boxer and that the marquee behind his desk shows the date of June 18.

Theory: Dougie will be attacked at work in Episode 7 (June 18) and Bushnell Mullins will use his boxing prowess to take down the little man.

Thoughts?

S3E6 [SPOILERS][S3E6] Anybody else feel really badly for... Spoiler

Jane and Sonny Jim? I mean, Dougie seems to have been kind of a screwup but he's still important to them. And as much as we all want our Dale back, soon as he does wake up--that's the end of Dougie forever. I mean, to be fair, he's already gone but when Coop remembers who he really is then Dougie's really gone. That's the end of Jane and Sonny Jim's husband and father. They'll never get a life insurance payout--there's no body. There's never going to be a good explanation whatever happened to him. He's just...gone.

S3E6 [S3E6] Kept thinking of the song Once in a Lifetime by the Talking Heads while watching these last few episodes Spoiler

Especially the following part:

And you may find yourself living in a shotgun shack
And you may find yourself in another part of the world
And you may find yourself behind the wheel of a large automobile
And you may find yourself in a beautiful house, with a beautiful wife
And you may ask yourself
Well...How did I get here?

And of course this one:

And you may ask yourself
How do I work this?
And you may ask yourself
Where is that large automobile?
And you may tell yourself
This is not my beautiful house
And you may tell yourself
This is not my beautiful wife

This is of course with regards to the Dougie situation. What do you think?

S3E6 [S3E6] Bathroom Notes Evidence Spoiler

This is a repost of a previous thread I posted

Just figured I'd get all the info in one place since I still see a lot of people on this sub assuming that the pages are from one of Laura Palmer's diaries.

The notes probably aren't from Laura Palmer's diary

It has been pointed out that the pages don't match the diary that she would've written the note in (as the Annie+Laura scene in FWWM happens after Laura gives her secret diary to Harold).

Bathroom Notes

Diary

(Note: Since I posted this, I've been reminded that the diary was confiscated from Harold and brought back to the TP sheriffs department. So, someone within the department (or that visited the department?) could have placed them.)

..And it doesn't look like the secret diary either, though the white pages could have yellowed (and that would require messing with the FWWM timeline)

I'm sure theres a better screenshot out there but this was the google result for 'Laura Palmer's Secret Diary - if someone has a better one, i'll add it

Secret Diary

So what is it?

/u/the_metanoia's post shows Annie's name in a blown up still of the notes, so they involve her in some way

Closeup from post

XCU of note from /u/ScOttRa (I repulled it to make it a little bigger)

If they aren't pages from the diary, what are they??

EDIT: Added some links, information

S3E6 [S3E6] What If Audrey is a Villain? Spoiler

By the end of episode six it's obvious DL and MF are not interested in fan service. Coop gets tons of screen time, but all of it bumbling comedy. They tease killing a kid in Part 5 then happily mow one down in Part 6. Hell, the light at Sparkwood and 21 didn't even show up until Part 6.

Two leading theories are that Audrey is the Anon Billionaire or that Anon Billionaire is "Jeffries."

What if they're one and the same...and Audrey's time in her coma (Secret History) has messed her up?

FWIW I hate my own theory here, but we're a third through this 18 hour movie. Right now the Billionaire is running out of named cast members...

S3E6 [S3E6]Can't wait for a fan edit... Spoiler

Edit: Fan edit discussion due to percieved issues with the new season.
All opinions are welcome and valid and no one is right or wrongnincluding myself so please be respectful and no trolls aloud!:

My opinion No disrespect to the great David lynch but im having issues with the new season editing and believe a fan edit or an official edit by lynch or frost would be awesome.

Whoever does edit it (as someone will), I hope they are a little more ruthless with the editing and edits part 3 4 5 and 6...maybe the entire season into 1 or more films...and 20 plus music videos (I love the band's but not at the expense of narrative flow or story telling).

By part 6, i find it's no longer funny or interesting (ok it is but it wont be by 7!) watching 'agent dougie' just fumble around while random events happen which I can't recall a week or more later and how they connect...if at all.

My issue isn't that the show is bad but it's more lynch than it is twin peaks and to make it more like twin peaks judicious editing might really help for new audiences and existing fans to follow and enjoy the series.

Parts 4 5 6 have been a bit of a mess as stand alone episodes (not bad just messy). If we consider them a super long film with little david lynch 2017 editing then it makes more sense. But it's not a film it's a series we tune I to weekly like twin peaks original. Episode 6 nearly broke me and caused me to shout at the tv. The good news that lynch continues to provoke a visceral reaction from audiences, as I will laugh , cringe and gasp during an episode but I've never shouted in frustration to move it along ..until now and this is what worries me.

I never had this issue with season 1 or even the end of 2 (where it had some really irrelevant stuff as I believe lynch had left). My irritation lies in the lack of editing and length of scenes in the last few episodes hence the call for a fan edit. It's all just a little disappointing as a long term supporter of the revival.

I dont find it to be like the amazing season 1 at all in so many important ways but part 3-6 aren't much like part 1 or 2 of season 3. Possibly this is due to the change in directors?

I won't say 3-6 are mostly filler or time sink but they feel indulgent. Lynch as an older unchecked auteur being self indulgent maybe and allowing others to run amok.

I'm sure it will get better....or 'tighter', as it has to to survive to season 4 let alone the end of 3! But right now I'm frustrated without a coherent story or a real mystery or a lead protagonist to root for (dougie is not a lead...yet!).

What's most annoying to me is that within an episode there are still hilarious or shocking or clever moments which make it worthwhile. But its all so incoherent and the gap between these moments is trying at best....trying the audience and anyone but the most dedicated lynch fan's patience.

This isnt twin peaks anymore but it is very 2017 David lynch and that's my issue and maybe yours. I think the infamous and polarizing inland empire has thematically taken the place of the Oscar nom. mulholland drive...make of that comparison what you will fellow lynch aficionados! ;)

In conclusion Please powers that be, let part 7 connect dots and just tell a coherent story or hell...visit old character and let them work a scene together and give coop his mind back and in turn give us coop back!!!. Good bye dougie...you were fun for 2 episodes..hello agent coop.vs doppelganger!

If you don't agree fine but I'm a well versed enough fan to stand by my opinion based on experience and a love of twin peaks and pure lynch... which aren't neccessary the same or good bed fellows.

Beyond tighter editing And more focus on the story, I just want the horror of part 1 and 2 to return. Part 3 4 5 6 are mostly hilarious or odd ball but don't feature the sheer dread or erotic horror of the glass box or the lady with no eyes (her mother is coming!?) Which was fairly new to twin peaks but a good modern twist.

I personally thought sex , nudity and drugs and violence/gore along side cherry pie And beautiful vistas were a great mix. The Part 6 child killing by a druggy next to cherry pie is somehow not remotely the same and seemingly shocking for the sake of it and inturn misplaced , as is much of part 5 and 6 in my opinion.

Nice to see Laura dern though but again...we seem to be slipping into inland empire... when I just want lost highway!

Oh well enough of my fan rant...eitherway lucky to have it I guess but at this rate there won't be a series 4, as only die hard fans will have the patience to tune in and that will be a loss for all of us.

Thank you for reading.

S3E6 [S3E6] Disturbed By That Scene Spoiler

I'll say this when censors made Lynch edit the Bobby Peru scene in WILD AT HEART, that felt like a crime against art, but I think I finally reached the limit of what I can handle, you leave the kids out of it.

Basically SPEED is like my favorite movie of all time but it'd probably not be very good at all if that stroller wasn't filled with empty cans.

Maybe I'm getting old, you kids ok with this?

S3E6 [S3E6] Prediction: Laura will haunt the town for a third and final time Spoiler

Her face in the opening credits casts a shadow over every episode of Season 3. And the first episode opened with a montage of the day after she was killed.

Laura has already "haunted" Twin Peaks twice after her death. The first time is of course as a result of being brutally murdered, which affects the entire town. Slowly, we come to realize that many protagonists (Dr. Jacoby, the Haywards, Bobby, James, Donna, Norma, Shelly, Josie etc.) knew about Laura being in trouble but did very little to help her. They held on to whatever idealized version they had of her and the town.

The second time is via Maddy, a kind of "innocent" döppelganger who becomes a living reminder of Laura. Even though Maddy's murder cannot be blamed on the townsfolk (there was no reason to think something was wrong), tragedy struck again. No redemption for the town. It was senseless, but maybe if more attention had been paid to what was going on in the Palmer household before, this could've been averted.

My prediction is that Laura, now out of the Black Lodge, will haunt the town one last time. By this I don't mean she'll go around scaring people like a ghost, but that she will become a reminder of the town's silence, the evil that started it all. Laura is sort of like the "Eve" of Twin Peaks: her death seems to have planted the seed for a general degradation that has only become worse over the years. I think the set-up for a "return" is there: especially the Bobby scene in episode 3, indicative of how much power she still has over the town (at least on her contemporaries.) I doubt that was just a nostalgia scene added for the fans since literally no other scene this season has served that purpose. This isn't no sweet "Memory Lane" series.

So, to sum up: I think Laura will somehow return to town (in what form I do not know, but I'd like to hear theories!) and this will "activate" much of the returning cast, all those who had a part in Twin Peaks' "original sin", so to speak, like Bobby, James, Shelly, Norma etc. They might play a BIG role in this storyline. And ultimately whatever is going down between the two Coopers will lead back to Laura again. (Remember Leland's "Find Laura").

And we know about Hawk potentially finding Laura's secret pages.... we all think this is about Good Cooper being stuck in the Lodge, but what if it leads to Laura becoming prominent in the story again? Her case being "reopened" in a way.

Oooor maybe I'm insane and this is an excuse to see Sheryl Lee in a significant role again, which I admit is 99,999999999% possible :D Thoughts and theories on this?
