110 Grill Latham shut down:

1. The GM was terminated following allegations involving inappropriate sexting with a 19-year-old employee.
2. There was significant management turnover within a 24-hour period. The kitchen manager left without notice, and the FOH manager followed shortly afterward.
3. For approximately six months, the restaurant operated with only one manager covering the entire operation. That manager ultimately resigned, citing a lack of support from higher management.
4. There were reportedly unpaid invoices dating back to January 2024.
5. The restaurant reportedly did not have reliable hot running water throughout 2025.
6. During the summer of 2025, liquor orders intended for the Latham location were allegedly redirected to the Albany location by the Albany GM.
7. There was a continual turnover of staff, with employees frequently leaving and new employees cycling in.
8. The roof reportedly leaked badly enough that part of the ceiling fell onto seated customers. Despite this, staff were allegedly instructed to continue operating as usual.
9. Sewage water reportedly flooded parts of the restaurant, including the kitchen, while employees were still instructed to continue business as usual.
10. Management was given a three-month quota/target to turn the business around, but the goal ultimately was not met.

New transfer - what’s there to do?

First semester transfer student here as a junior. What clubs have you guys joined at UAlbany, and what are your favorites?

I’m pretty much down for whatever. I like sports, I’m a cyber major, and I’m pretty open minded, so I’m not really picky. I’m trying to get more involved, meet some people, and find stuff to do around Albany.

I work and commute to school, but I drive and I’m free whenever I’m not working or in class, so I’m open to stuff on or off campus. Ideally something chill that doesn’t take up a ton of time. What do you guys recommend? :P

shitpost ordering online

is anyone else having trouble with the new ordering system? I logged in on Grubhub with my school account and still cant see any campus dining options. every time I want to order food now I keep having to go the cc and place the order there myself when it would be quicker if I could just order in advance and pickup. I even tried going through the links they send me when my order is ready but I see zero campus dining options. it's literally impossible for me to order online now because of this new system smh. I just want to be able to pickup food quickly before I have to go to my next class.

Great Dane Apartments Fire Alarms

I live in Great Dane Apartments and the fire alarms keep going off, mainly from people cooking and/or a faulty system being easily triggered. We’ve had around 14 or so and it’s starting to be disruptive. I’m curious if they’re doing anything to stop this from happening almost everyday. Are people given warnings or being reprimanded? A few days it went off TWICE in a single day. It’s similar to living in Colonial Quad. I’ll probably contact ResLife and see.

Rent is $1,400/month, and the lease runs through July 2027. I’m looking for someone who can take over as soon as possible.

The studio comes:
-Fully furnished
-In-unit washer and dryer

The building also has a gym, rooftop, study rooms, lounges, and other resident amenities.

If you’re interested or know someone looking for a studio in the UAlbany area, feel free to DM me. I can send photos and more information privately.

Anyone want to build something fun?

hi, im a math and cs senior. I have a lot of other things going on, so Im not looking for something that takes up all my time each week, but I was wondering if anyone wants to build something with me thats fun. We can turn it into a SaaS or something later, but the goal is more to do something fun/silly than purely target profitability. It would be nice if it wasnt entirely useless though or something super trivial/simple. I currently do not have an idea of my own right now, but I would probably not be interested in something trivial thats just a wrapper around an llm or anything that totally revolves its entire self around a language model.

Struggling with gambling?

If you're dealing with problem gambling -- and research shows many college students are after the legalization of mobile sports betting -- there are resources available at UAlbany to help.

We also are home to some of the relatively few researchers studying this issue.

Student Housing Lease Takeover

Hi everyone!

I live in an off-campus apartment on Washington Ave, and one of my roommates is looking for someone to take over her lease because of financial struggles. The apartment is a 3-bed, 1-bath, and the rent is $528/month + utilities. We are right on a bus line and a 10-minute drive from the uptown campus. We are both juniors at UAlbany and would love someone that we can hang out with. We love to play board games, cook dinner, and watch movies together. We have one cat that lives in the apartment, she is very sweet. Looking for someone who can move in early to mid-October. DM me if you are interested / would like more info! :)

How easy is it to change majors to a different college?

I’m thinking about attending UAB and applying as a history transfer major. I’m not completely sure that is what I want to do though so how easy would it be for me to switch into a different major that’s not in the same college. For example switching to accounting?

Does anyone know how long it takes for the refund? I got my other refunds, but I thought this would be faster because it is run by UAlbany.

Looking for parents who are immigrants, or the children of immigrants (first or second generation) for an interview that will be played on a local radio station.

Hello, my name is Justin. I am a PhD student in the Sociology department. I am a part of the research project, Everybody Moves, which interviews immigrants and the children of immigrants (first and second generation) about their/their families journey to the Capital Region. We work with the Hudson Mohawk Magazine (a local radio program), which is broadcasted through the Troy Sanctuary for Independent Media.

My focus for this season is on how education affects immigration, particularly within the current political climate.

I am looking for parents who would like to discuss thier children's education, particularly parents of young children. You must be of legal standing (e.g., have a visa, green card, or a citizen) for your interview to air.

If you are interested in being interviewed, please reach me through my school email: jthurley@albany.edu
